[Prepare for appraisal...]
Lec was bored...painfully so. He was currently in a strange space, a waiting room of sorts. Or that's what he assumed it was. All he knew was that it was boring. Sure, all the strings of light and stuff were cool when he first got here, but it was quickly getting old. He had just gotten back from space after all.
But at the same time, he was somewhat infatuated by the interconnected silver strings, because he knew this was the inner workings of the spell itself. Of course, that just made him want to get out of this place faster; he had no interest in looking inside of the damn thing...'That came out wrong.'
Trying his best to occupy his mind with anything else, the Onyx-haired boy decided that it was probably time to reflect on everything that had happened. To which he could only say, "What the fuck."
Sure, during the nightmare, and especially during the G.U.N raid, he didn't really have the time to think about all the crazy shit he had seen or achieved. I mean, it's not every day that a dormant human can brag about turning into a literal golden god and single-handedly slaying a corrupted devil.
"And don't even get me started on the fact that I was in fucking space!"
Lec had never, in his 13 years of living, heard of a nightmare that took place in space, better yet, one that took place on a damn space colony. Shaking his head, Lec could only smile to himself. 'Heh, and past me thought I was for sure gonna die. I should have known that I was way past cool for that.'
But before he could continue his gloating, the spell rang out, although it wasn't for his appraisal.
[You have received a Memory: Air Shoes]
Perking up, a grin appeared on his face. 'YES! Oh my god, I thought I lost you.'
Lec was convinced that he'd lose the Air Shoes given to him by his father figure forever, but it seemed like the spell was nice enough to reward him with them for defeating the Biolizard. Which sort of felt like an unfair trade, but whatever.
If they had been turned into a memory given by a corrupted devil of all things, then they HAD to have been buffed. There's no way they weren't. He was practically gushing at the concept of it; the regular Air Shoes were enough to increase his speed by a rather large amount already.
Although that was only part of the reason he wanted them back, they did hold sentimental value for him. Also, they looked sick as fuck!
He oh-so-desperately wanted to take a look at it, but it seemed the spell was done with its appraisal. And boy was it loud, he could almost hear its voice ringing in his eardrums.
[Aspirant! Your trial is over.]
[A boy with nothing ascended to the stars. Both soldiers and monsters fell by his hand. Determined, he'd harness the power of chaos and ascend even further, finding the stars within his reach. Eventually, he'd make the ultimate sacrifice to save the world at the mere wish of a dying girl. ]
[You have defeated a dormant human, name unknown.]
[You have slain a corrupted devil: Biolizard.]
[You have awakened the power of chaos.]
[You have achieved the impossible!]
[Final appraisal: Glorious. Your sentimentality truly knows no bounds.]
"Yeah, yeah, I know that I'm awesome, what's next?" Despite his tone coming off as cocky, his face was anything but. He was currently blushing at the praise as the spell recounted his achievements during the nightmare.
'Damnit, hearing someone else praise me for the things I've done feels way different!' But it was true, wasn't it? How many other Aspirants could boast about using gems of limitless power? 'Not many, I tell ya!'
This just made Lec even more confident of his evolved Aspect being of the Ascended rank, maybe even higher. At that, Lec giggled mischievously to himself. 'I'll be so famous...'
[Dreamer Lec, receive your boon!]
Smirking, he almost let himself say something corny before shutting up.
[You have been bestowed a True Name: Black Wind.]
And the rich get richer.
Lec's eyes were currently the size of saucers; shock, awe, and pure joy were all emotions on his face. Yeah, sure, he had expected some pretty good stuff, but a true name after the very first nightmare? 'Last I'd heard, only one other person in history had gotten a true name after their first nightmare! W-what was her name again?'
Shaking his head, Lec decided that it didn't currently matter. What did matter was the fact that he now definitely had a sure-fire way out of the outskirts for good. Not like he planned to stay in that dump after waking up anyway, the only thing that a true name made sure of was that he'd definitely have a smooth sailing life from here on out.
[Your Aspect is ready to evolve. Evolve Aspect?]
A wide grin instantly spread across his face. 'The hell kinda question is that? No shit, yes!'
[Dormant Aspect Chaos Vessel is evolving…]
[New Aspect acquired.]
[Aspect Rank: Divine.]
'Huh?'
[Aspect Name: The Ultimate Lifeform.]
***
'CALM DOWN, CALM DOWN, I SAID CALM DOWN DAMMIT!'
.
'Okay, I am calm now.'
Lec had a myriad of questions that he oh so desperately needed to ask, but unfortunately for him, there was absolutely no one around. 'Ugh, I miss the old man already.'
Of course, he had been expecting a high rank, an Ascended or maybe even a Transcendent rank Aspect. Not, this... He definitely wasn't complaining, but he had never heard of a Divine rank Aspect before. To be honest, it sounded like it came straight out of a webtoon.
Confused, Lec summoned the runes and found the lines describing his aspect.
Aspect: [The Ultimate Lifeform].
Aspect Rank: Divine.
Aspect Description: [Born from the union of science and chaos, your existence defies the natural order. You are not merely a wielder of chaos energy, but a being engineered to stand at the apex of all living things. Your body is a perfect vessel, your will the only limit to the power that flows through you. To face you is to face chaos itself.]
Innate Ability: [Chaos Sense].
Ability Description: [As a being of chaos yourself, you are intrinsically aware of any traces of chaos energy around you. Being able to pinpoint its location, traces of it, and even the user's emotional state.]
'Well, I guess I can finally sense chaos energy...would have been useful back at the Ark.'
The more Lec thought about it, the more it made sense for his Aspect to be of the divine rank if you looked at the abilities. He himself had seen firsthand what chaos energy was capable of, and he was pretty much a complete novice at using it. Granted, he was using the emeralds to accomplish most of what he did, but nobody had to know that.
Anything with the "divine" prefix was so hard to find that it mostly lived in the realm of myths and legends. After all, the human race had not reached that high yet; it was only slightly more than a decade since humans managed to finally conquer the Third Nightmare and receive the ability to evolve their cores to Transcendent rank.
Yet, Lec had just gotten exactly that. It was a strange thing to think about, but Lec kind of doubted him being the first person to ever receive a divine aspect, although he'd like to be.
'Imagine how much money I'd get, heheh...Maybe I'm the youngest?'
Although before he could go deeper into thoughts of being the first at something, the spell began to speak again.
[The First Seal is broken.]
[Awakening dormant powers…]
