Chapter 10 - UNSEEN MOVES

The next morning, Class 1-F felt different. The air was thick with tension, and whispers of yesterday's M Points trial still echoed through the classroom. Students who had stumbled were already plotting, while the stronger ones silently measured their peers. Kaito Maikeru entered last, hands in his pockets, eyes scanning the room like a hawk tracking prey.

Sayaka Mizuno followed, calm and detached, her notebook tucked under her arm. She didn't glance at anyone; her focus was already on the subtle patterns forming in the classroom. Some students dared to whisper about her flawless performance, but no one approached. Fear and awe kept them silent.

The digital board flickered to life, displaying the next assignment:

"Stage Two: Observation and Deception Challenge – Individual or Paired. Points will be awarded based on deduction, strategy, and hidden performance."

The announcement caused immediate murmurs. Everyone knew the stakes were higher this time. Mistakes would cost points, while clever manipulation could yield enormous rewards.

Students paired up quickly, some reluctantly, some with obvious intentions to dominate weaker partners. The classroom became a labyrinth of whispered strategies, subtle manipulations, and hidden calculations.

Kaito moved with quiet precision. He was paired with Akihiko Hoshino again, the timid student from the first duo challenge. Kaito didn't rush; instead, he guided Akihiko with subtle cues, allowing the boy to feel useful while Kaito controlled the outcome. Every glance, every hesitation from other duos was noted. He was not just solving the challenge — he was mapping the class's social and strategic weaknesses.

Sayaka, meanwhile, was paired with Reina Fujimoto, the overconfident girl from the previous challenge. Reina tried to assert herself, barking out instructions, but Sayaka remained unbothered. She worked quietly, efficiently, letting Reina flounder. Each success Sayaka achieved only highlighted Reina's weaknesses. By the end, Sayaka's calm dominance had left the entire class watching in silent astonishment.

The other students struggled. Some failed to communicate, others froze under pressure, and a few resorted to outright cheating, only to have their attempts fail under the system's rules.

When the points were revealed:

Sayaka Mizuno – 250 points (perfect execution, silent control)

Kaito Maikeru – 230 points (subtle guidance, flawless strategy)

Other students – 60–150 points

Gasps and murmurs filled the room. Some students were furious, blaming partners or systems. Others stared, awed by the clear superiority of Kaito and Sayaka.

Kaito leaned back, observing the reactions carefully. The more they panic, the more predictable they are. And predictable prey is easy to control.

Sayaka packed her notebook silently, casting a fleeting glance at Kaito. Efficient, observant, controlled… Interesting.

By the end of the day, the class had changed again. Hierarchies had begun forming more clearly: the weak were scrambling, the mediocre forming unstable alliances, and the strong subtly asserting control. The veil over Class 1-F was lifting further, revealing both potential and vulnerability.

Outside the classroom, Kaito whispered to himself, This is just the beginning. Let them scramble, let them bicker. The pieces are moving exactly where I want them.

The game had escalated. The rules were simple: observe, manipulate, survive. Only those who truly understood the currents of ambition would rise.

And in Class 1-F, the currents were just beginning to shift.
