Chapter 9 - THE FIRST M POINT TRIAL

The morning air in Elite Prestige Academy felt heavier than usual. Class 1-F filed into the room, whispering nervously. Today was different. Today wasn't just about teamwork or observation. Today was the first official M Points trial, and every student knew the stakes were real.

The digital board flickered to life, displaying bold letters:

"Class 1-F M Points Trial – Strategy and Survival"

A hush fell over the room. The students who had struggled in previous challenges shifted uncomfortably in their seats, while the stronger students, Kaito and Sayaka included, simply observed the reactions of their classmates.

Kaito entered last, as always, his expression calm, hands in his pockets. His eyes scanned the room, cataloging alliances, rivalries, and subtle gestures of fear. Every twitch of the shoulders, every hesitant glance — he stored them like data points.

Sayaka followed, quiet and precise, her notebook held to her chest. She didn't acknowledge anyone, didn't engage in whispered speculation. Her focus was already on the board, on the instructions flashing there.

The teacher, Ms. Delacroix, appeared briefly on the screen as a hologram. Her black skin and sharp features made her presence intimidating. "Today's trial," she began, her voice clear and controlled, "is a test of strategy, observation, and decision-making. M Points will be awarded based on your performance. Fail, and points will be deducted. Cooperation may help, but deception and cunning will also be rewarded. Begin."

Immediately, tension filled the room. Students fidgeted, whispered, and tried to form plans. Some glanced nervously at their former duo partners, while others considered new alliances.

The challenge consisted of a digital puzzle course displayed on their tablets. Each task required observation, critical thinking, and subtle manipulation of the environment. Points were tracked in real time, and students could see their progress relative to the others.

Kaito didn't rush. He leaned back, hands steepled, watching. He noticed a small group panicking, bickering over strategy, making mistakes that cost them points. He made no move, only taking note. Efficiency was revealed through observation, and the weaker students were already exposing themselves.

Sayaka moved quietly. Her eyes scanned every detail of the puzzle. When a teammate tried to interject with a rushed solution, she ignored them, solving the tasks herself with precision. Every movement, every choice was deliberate. By the end of the first stage, she had completed it flawlessly, silently leaving her partner struggling to keep up.

Other students stumbled. Some cheated, some argued, some froze under pressure. The class dynamic shifted rapidly, with fear and envy spreading like wildfire.

When the points were tallied:

Sayaka Mizuno – 200 points (perfect execution)

Kaito Maikeru – 185 points (subtle manipulation, efficient strategy)

Other students – 50–120 points

The room buzzed with murmurs of disbelief and resentment. Some students accused each other of cheating, while others stared at Kaito and Sayaka with thinly veiled awe.

Kaito leaned back in his chair, noting the reactions carefully. The true value is not in the points. It's in the fear, the envy, the way they scramble. Everything they reveal now will determine how I move next.

Sayaka packed her notebook silently, casting a brief glance at Kaito. Efficient, calm, predictable in observation. Worth noting.

By the end of the day, Class 1-F had learned an uncomfortable truth: M Points weren't just numbers. They were power, influence, and survival, and only those who could think, observe, and manipulate would rise.

Kaito stood by the door as the last students left, a small smile forming on his lips. The game has begun in earnest. And I intend to see just how far this class can be pushed — without them even realizing it.

The veil over Class 1-F had lifted further, and the true trial had begun.
