Chapter 301 - Chapter 301: The Erupting Power

"Alright, let's talk about something else." Seeing the silent atmosphere, Fujino gave a dry laugh.

"Miss Kaltsit, you haven't mentioned your purpose for coming to Umbrella yet."

Kaltsit looked at Fujino, staring into her eyes, trying to see something, but it was as if she were standing before an abyss.

Kaltsit's breathing unknowingly became much heavier.

"Miss Kaltsit, I should still warn you: it's better not to pry into certain things casually," Fujino said, looking at Kaltsit meaningfully. "One mistake and you'll die. I don't think you have the powerful recovery abilities of that little fellow in your shadow."

Hearing this, Kaltsit's heart grew even heavier, but she adjusted her mindset and said deeply, "We came to Umbrella this time simply hoping for an explanation."

"Oh? An explanation? I wonder what kind of explanation Miss Kaltsit wants from us at Umbrella for Rhodes Island?" Fujino smiled faintly.

What purpose could Kaltsit have? It was nothing more than the fact that she had discovered little Fujino entering Rhodes Island last time, and Kaltsit wanted to use that as leverage to gain benefits from Umbrella or probe for information.

"I believe this little girl belongs to Umbrella, since she looks so much like you, Miss Fujino." Kaltsit placed a photo in the center of the table. "We've come this time because we need an explanation for why someone from Umbrella would secretly infiltrate Rhodes Island."

"Infiltration? I think you must have misunderstood something, Miss Kaltsit."

"To call it an infiltration based on a single photo is simply ridiculous. As for the girl in the photo, I admit she is my younger sister, but claiming she infiltrated Rhodes Island based on this is laughable. Perhaps you hired Penguin Logistics and used some method to take this photo."

"Rhodes Island would never do such a thing!" Before Kaltsit could speak, Amiya spoke up first, the ears on her head twitching.

"And would Umbrella do such a thing then?" Fujino shifted the concept, looking at the two in front of her with a smile. "What exactly does Rhodes Island have that's worth us coveting?"

"Or are you saying that a mere pharmaceutical company like yours has the nerve to go to war with Umbrella!"

An invisible force was released. For a moment, the breathing of both Kaltsit and Amiya faltered. The surrounding air seemed to be sucked dry in an instant, or rather, in that moment, they were even stripped of their ability to breathe.

Crack, crack.

At the sound of fine cracking, Kaltsit's expression changed, and she quickly looked at Amiya. Several small cracks had actually appeared on the rings Amiya was wearing.

"Amiya!"

Kaltsit shouted urgently. She had already seen a faint red light emerging in Amiya's black eyes.

"Quiet!" Fujino snorted coldly. An invisible power surged, directly suppressing the force about to erupt within Amiya's body.

Thump!

The color instantly drained from Amiya's eyes, and the red light vanished. She fell straight backward, but before hitting the ground, she was caught by Kaltsit.

Kaltsit quickly checked Amiya's condition and then breathed a slight sigh of relief. Amiya had only fainted and was not in any serious danger.

However, Kaltsit's heart was filled with complex emotions. The power inside Amiya had been just a hair's breadth away from completely breaking the seal, but now it was firmly suppressed by a strange and incomprehensible power. The seal was so thorough that Kaltsit estimated Amiya wouldn't even need her rings to suppress it for the next month. However, the Originium concentration in Amiya's body was abnormal and chaotic; she couldn't tell if it was good or bad. Kaltsit had never seen such a situation before, and without equipment, she couldn't determine what was happening. She would have to return to Rhodes Island and have the Doctor take a look.

"Miss Kaltsit, do you have anything else to say?" Fujino maintained her smile, showing no awareness of having knocked Amiya unconscious.

Although Amiya was the protagonist in the game, Fujino was perfectly capable of distinguishing between game and reality. Moreover, she hadn't used Amiya much in the game and didn't have much affection for her. The reason she had knocked her out was simply to prevent the power inside her from erupting and making a mess of the company.

While the power inside Amiya was weak to Fujino, it was a different story for her company. Having to fix things herself would be a hassle.

"I think you should give this girl a check-up. We can lend you Umbrella's equipment," Fujino smiled, knowing Kaltsit wouldn't refuse.

"Then I shall trouble you," Kaltsit said deeply. It would still take a significant amount of time to return to Rhodes Island, and Amiya's condition was complex. Who knew what might happen on the way? Using Umbrella's equipment was undoubtedly both the best and worst choice right now.

"I hope to conduct the child's examination alone," Kaltsit requested. Although she knew there was a high chance of refusal given the circumstances, she decided to take the risk. If possible, she never wanted Amiya's physical data to be exposed. If not for the fear of unpredictable events during the journey, she would never have borrowed Umbrella's equipment.

"No problem."

Fujino's agreement exceeded Kaltsit's expectations. She was silent for a moment before whispering, "Thank you."

"I'll have someone take you there."

Outside the infirmary, Fujino kept her promise and let Kaltsit and Amiya stay inside, using Umbrella's equipment to examine Amiya.

In truth, Kaltsit's worries were unnecessary; Fujino didn't care for Amiya's data at all.

Although Amiya's ability to absorb others' emotions was quite good, it was useless to Fujino.

"What exactly was that power that flashed within that child?" Saria, who was waiting outside with Fujino, asked curiously.

Saria had also noticed the outburst inside Amiya earlier. Although it was only for a split second, Saria had definitely felt it. However, because Fujino had intervened, Saria only felt that the fleeting power was incredibly strong and nothing more.

"It's somewhat similar to the power that child Ifrit possesses."
