Chapter 13
GEORGIA'S POV
I walked out of Jaime's house after he'd finished his power trip and ducked into a nearby café. I sat there, nursing a coffee, completely at a loss.
Maybe moving in was the only choice. I couldn't bring myself to crawl back and beg for mercy; my pride simply wouldn't allow it. What made it worse was the location—the main family estate. If it were just his private house, I could have avoided everyone. I could have worked my hours and then vanished into a corner he never visited. But the main building? That was going to be... not necessarily "chaotic" in the traditional sense, but overwhelming for someone like me who valued living alone.
I watched the other customers—people laughing and living their lives without a care in the world—and felt a pang of envy. Then I caught myself.
