(Ruby's POV)
The morning after the tunnel feels different.
The sun is out. The sky is blue. For the first time since I arrived at Sterling Manor, the world doesn't look gray. It looks like something worth fighting for.
I'm in the conservatory, watering the few orchids that survived the storm. They're still weak, still pale, but they're alive. That's something.
Nicholas finds me there an hour later. He's holding a thick folder in his hands, and his face is pale.
"What is it?" I ask, setting down the watering can.
"Anya sent me something. From the facility on Skye." He opens the folder, spreading papers across the potting bench. "Forensic reports. Lab analyses. Evidence that's been buried for over a decade."
I look at the papers. The language is technical, full of words I don't understand. But one phrase jumps out at me.
