Chapter 11 - Registration

The moment I stepped further into the city, I realized something important.

(…This place is pretty chill.)

Metal clanking somewhere to my left. A merchant yelling about fresh vegetables to my right. Laughter from what sounded like a tavern barely holding itself together.

"Raaah!"

"—Huuuh—No."

Too late.

He dashed forward like a guided missile with absolutely no guidance system.

—CHOMP—

"…That's a basket."

A poor merchant froze mid-sale, staring down at the tiny dinosaur currently assaulting his merchandise like it had personally offended his lineage.

"HEY—!"

I stepped forward calmly, grabbed Rex by the back of the neck, and lifted him mid-chew.

"Drop it."

He paused.

Thought about it.

Then swallowed.

(…Progress?)

"I'm paying for that."

The merchant squinted at me, then at Rex.

Then at Exe, floating quietly behind me.

His expression shifted.

"…You an adventurer right ?"

A little surprised to that question, I still answered him.

"—Well I'm still working on it, but you can say that one of my projects."

He stared a second longer—probably weighing profit against survival—then sighed.

"Just… keep the little demon away from my stall."

"He's more of a developing problem."

Rex wriggled in my grip.

"Raa!"

I set him down.

He immediately tried to bite one of my fingers.

"…We'll have to fix that."

——LINE BREAK——

After that I calmed the little Rex, I asked at the first person for directions to the adventurers' guild.

"Excuse me miss... would you know where the adventurers' guild actually is?"

But the woman's eyes made me hesitate for a brief moment.

No, I wasn't hypnotized by some cheesy novel thing about a jade-skinned beauty.

She just had a surprisingly piercing gaze that would naturally make anyone hesitate.

(Image)

"If it's asked so politely, you must..."

She gave me the "safest" route, according to her. I admit, it's a bit strange as a description of a path leading just a few streets away.

I thanked her politely to show my understanding, but I froze slightly.

My curiosity about her was stronger than my priority of going to the adventurers' guild.

You should know that I asked for directions from the first person within reach.

However, there were others besides this woman.

I was attracted not only because of her appearance, which is incredible from an earthly point of view, given my low cortisol level.

But also because of her... character design or unusual clothing compared to her surroundings.

Personally, I'm in a similar situation with my clothes.

(Image)

"Do you have another problem?" She raised an eyebrow while looking me straight in the eyes, which is an intimidating action with her reading glasses.

Especially since she's surprisingly tall... or did I shrink?

"Excuse me, if I'm being a bit presumptuous... but could I have your name?"

No, I'm not a shy guy.

It's just that this woman naturally emanates something distant.

After my words, she had a funny reaction.

Her eyes were hidden by her bangs and her skin had a slightly... red tint?

And she mumbled a name too familiar to my ears because of her actions in the Konosuba anime at a low voice.

"S... Sena"

(Ahhhh— I see right now.)

Yes, this woman is the individual who almost ended Kazuma adventure in the original story.

She's a royal prosecutor who is stationed in Axel town and also the president of "The Association to Protect Women's Chances of Marriage".

Which is quite pitiful when I think of it, considering that she only had 20 years.

"Sena? That's a pretty name, my name is Noah Alexendrie, but if it sounds weird you can just call me Noah."

"N... no, the name Noah isn't strange."

She stops me awkwardly.

I would have thought she wasn't comfortable with me without my knowledge of the anime.

This woman is literally in a similar situation to the adventurers' guild receptionist.

In short, a businesswoman who succeeded but passed the "normal" marriage age of her world.

(Really a shame, if one of my readers was there, she would already be at her third pregnancy.)

Thus, Sena in the Konosuba universe is a woman confident about her work and she's also efficient.

However, she struggles with her personal life and any subject related closely or remotely to men except BL novels.

"I'm relieved to hear that, I hope to benefit from your kindness again."

I gave a slight incline of my head—something between polite and just a bit theatrical—then quickly take her hand and a quick kiss is placed on it.

I left the awkward woman with these words before walking through Axel's streets toward the adventurers' guild.

Rex shifted beside me, letting out a low sound as if approving the plan.

Exe remained where it was, quiet as ever—but I could feel that same faint awareness from it, like it had already taken interest in this "guild" without needing to see it.

Thanks to my quick steps, I quickly reached the adventurers' guild.

The Guild was housed in a fairly large building, and the smell of food drifted from within.

There was a rough lot inside, no doubt. People who might not think twice about jumping some newcomers.

"You encountered a huge golem on your quest!?"

"This new waitress isn't bad."

"We'd need one more member in our party."

Despite the hour, the guild was still very active and lively.

I steeled myself for conflict as I entered…

…and was greeted by a waitress with short red hair, who said sweetly,

"Oh, welcome miss, If you're looking for work, go to the counter inside. If you're here for a meal, please take any open seat."

The dim interior looked to be home to a tavern.

People in armor wandered here and there, but no one seemed especially out to cause trouble.

We did seem to be getting a lot of attention, though.

At first I thought maybe they didn't get many newcomers here.

But seeing everyone was checking more one Rex and Exe than to me actually make me think otherwise.

And it made sense that there would attract attention.

I decided to ignore the stares and pursue my original objective, and waited for some time for a receptionist to become available.

(It seems there are many adventurers returning from their quests at this hour.)

In the meantime I tell at Exe to To keep an eye on Rex, even though he only have one.

Finally it was my turn.

"Hello, how can I help you today?"

The blonde receptionist (Luna) with surprisingly sinful curves

"I want to become an adventurer, and if possible... be thorough in the explanations, I want to know all I need to know."

It is for a very good reason that I have specified everything you need to know, in view of the current situation in the world.

I surely do not want to be surprised or caught off guard because of lack of information.

"Ah... okay, then I'll take a lot of your time.. and also, a registration fee is required. Will that be all right?"

"No problem with that." I handed her the one thousand eris.

(—Still around 3500 eris, not really much left.)

"Now, you've said you want to become adventurers, so I assume you have some idea of what's involved. But just in case, please allow me to explain. First of all, adventurers are those who fight the monsters—that is, creatures who do harm to people—outside town and explore the dungeons around the world. However, they are also jacks-of-all-trades. Adventurer is simply a generic term for those who have accepted this life as their vocation. Each one also has an mostly a occupation."

At the current specific work 'mostly' my attention was picked, and I couldn't help asking a question.

" What do you mean by "mostly" a occupation, is that all the adventures don't start with a class ?"

At my question, she looked kind of surprised but answer me any way.

" Well, you're are half right about that, but let's me explain, there are three ways to be a adventurers."

"First—the most unpopular method. You register through the guild, undergo an evaluation, and receive a rank based one your abilities. From there… your growth is entirely up to you."

I didn't react outwardly at the information—

But Internally—

(That sounds like a terrible idea.)

"People who choose that path tend to struggle," she added, adjusting a document on the counter. "Or remain at the lower ranks for most of their careers."

"…And the second?"

She paused—just a fraction.

"…The most common method."

She set a card in front of me.

It was about the size of a driver's license—presumably some kind of identification.

"You see the line marked 'Level'? As you may know, every creature in this world possesses a soul. Whenever we eat, kill, or otherwise end the life of another being, we absorb a portion of its memories."

Memories.

(…That's one way to describe it.)

"These are commonly referred to as experience points. Normally, they cannot be perceived directly. However…"

She pointed to the surface of the card.

"…this allows you to track them. Your accumulated experience, your level, and by extension—your overall strength."

"A rise in level results in a significant increase in your abilities. Many describe it as reaching a new plateau. Additionally, each level grants points that can be allocated toward skills or other enhancements."

(…So exactly the same as in the anime.)

"…In short," she concluded, "it is the easiest and most reliable way for someone to become stronger."

I looked at the card in silence.

"Also according to your initial statistics, it would be possible for you to choose from several classes, which is another factor why this choice is so popular."

( Well, I'm pretty much sure that the most optimal choice for anyone who really to make wants money from being a adventurer.)

"And the last one."

She didn't answer immediately.

For the first time since this conversation started—

She hesitated.

"…The third method," she said slowly, "is not something the guild provides and we rarely get to see that case her, but—"

"—It is… a divine blessing."

(…Of course.)

"Some gods grant power to individuals. Those chosen receive a mark—a falna—that records their growth."

"And unlike the card, this one evolves based on the individual's actions, experiences… and sometimes even their emotions."

"Their abilities can develop in ways that are… unpredictable. Skills may manifest suddenly. Stats can rise at abnormal rates."

"However," she continued, voice steady again, "their status must be updated directly by the god who granted the blessing. Without that intervention, their growth stagnates."

(…And there it is, still exactly the same.)

"So while their potential is far greater than ordinary adventurers…"

She let the sentence hang for half a second.

"…they are bound to their patron."

I stayed silent.

"…So," I said calmly, "most people choose the card."

"Yes."

I think for half a second and simply decided to take the card option.

Because, why would anybody go to a hardcore mode willingly when you can just play with a good generic rpg setting.

( Through, what might be the choice of Kazuma.)

"I'm glad you took that choice, I'd like you both to fill out this form. Please give your race, height, weight, age, and distinctive physical features."

( Why would they need that anyway?)

Still I began to write on the form she handed me.

———

Name:

Noah ALEXANDRIE

Sex:

Male

Affiliation :

None

Race :

Dark Elf

Age :

16 years old

Height :

167 cm (5'6")

Weight :

59 kg (120 lbs)

—————

I take a look at the form before handing her it.

She takes before reading it

The receptionist's eyes moved across the form slowly.

Once.

Twice.

Then a third time—slower than necessary.

She finally spoke again, strangely careful now.

"…Could you confirm something for me?"

"Yes?" I answered.

( I know exactly what is the problem but—)

No way that she exposes me now.

"… your physical registration details are correct?"

"Mostly for sure, although I don't clearly recall the weight part clearly, it should be a problem right ?"

A second silence.

Then she sighed through her nose, the kind of sigh reserved for paperwork that refuses to behave.

"All right. Now, please touch these cards. This will show your stats so you can pick a class that matches your abilities. Based on that class, you may also be able to learn specialized skills at higher levels, so consider that when deciding on your occupation."

(If I recall correctly, was my class already filled?)

I touched the card with a mixture of trepidation and excitement.

"…All right, thank you. Miss—Mr.… Noah Alexandrie, is that right? Let's see… Strength and Vitality…are a little bit less than average. Your Luck is on the high side… Huh? Your Intelligence, Magic, Agility…are just extremely high!!??."

The building filled with excited murmurs.

"—Wait another one?"

"—A month not even have passed and yet another supper rookie!???"

"And even better she kinda cute!!"

I ignored the noise behind me and quickly adjusted my gaze on Luna.

"So, how good am really are ?"

"A-amazing doesn't begin to cover it! Well recently a new adventurer have statistics on this calibre, but you're stats are much more balanced, so it quite the surprise."

(Well, Aqua is a goodness, and be categorised as the same calibre tell me how much the professor invested on me—)

—But more importantly.

"For the class?"

"Ah yes, you can't pick the most Offensive class, which requires high strength, but…you can be anything else at all! You could be a Wizard—a Priest famed for impenetrable defense—

"—and strangely enough you can select a Sword Master, with unparalleled attack power! You can start in some of the most advanced occupations available!"

And with a incredulous expression she kindly mustered, only if it was to herself.

"—You could be a Dragon Knight."

That made me glance toward the so-called "dragon."

He was currently jumping left and right, attempting—with remarkable dedication and zero success—to bite Exe mid-air.

…Yeah.

A truly majestic partner.

(Definitely peak material.)

"Well for the class, there maybe be a Tamer or a Trainer right?"

She looked confused at my request but still take a look.

"Hummm, there nothing like that in our panel, in fact the tamers class you search are simply a job, a profession unrelated with a person's class, that they can practice instead or at the time as their profession as adventurer."

So no Pokemon Tamers class, well it should do for something helpful.

I finally decided to just go for a good class—

—When suddenly, the card to emit a light blue flash.

All the guilds stay silent at the sudden development.

The blue glow on the card dimmed to a steady shimmer, but the words remained—clean, undeniable, engraved deeper than the rest.

In my case it was not only the sudden auto-fill of the class, but rather the system table with which I had not interacted for a while that seems to have been updated.

{System Update}

{Requirement Completed:

-Initial World Integration

-Companion Bond Established

-Class Path Selection Confirmed}

{Selected Class Applied}

{Class: Pokemon Trainer}

{Description: Ahybrid class combining taming and training. Pokémon Trainers grow alongside their Pokemon through trust, discipline, and shared experience rather than control.

A portion of experience gained is shared between Trainer and bonded companions, allowing both to develop together.

The class affects both Beast/Monsters, but are less likely to develop.}

After reading it—

…I paused.

(So that's the angle.)

I glanced at Rex who was already watching me like he was expecting something.

Meanwhile Luna snapped out of it.

"W-What works!? What is that class!? I've never—there's no such entry in the system! The guild card shouldn't be able to assign something that doesn't exist!"

She hurriedly reached for a side crystal—something meant for deeper analysis. The moment she brought it close—

—flicker.

The crystal dimmed.

Then cracked.

A thin, sharp line running across its surface.

Luna froze.

"…It rejected the scan."

(Oh!)

She looked at me a bit dumbfounded.

"…Euhhh… Miss—Mr. Noah… can I borrow your card for a more profound examination?"

(…Well, I don't think that it's that important right now.)

"…No."

Flat.

Immediate.

She blinked.

"I—just for a second! I need to—"

"Just let it slide for the moment, and can you please continue the explaining please."

Luna hesitated, still visibly unsettled by the cracked analysis crystal, but eventually gave a small nod and steadied herself behind the counter.

"…Well?" she asked. "What does it say at least?"

I hesitated for half a second.

Then answered simply—

"It's a support-type class for monsters."

"…I see," she said quietly. There was a hint of disappointment in her expression, though she quickly buried it. "Then… let's continue."

She straightened, adopting a more official tone.

" Well, now that you know the details related to your job as an adventurer, it's time to talk about classes and other details related to the guild card..."

The atmosphere in the guild slowly settled again.

Luna began explaining the details related to the guild card and experience points.

Experience points are a piece of a creature's soul defeated by the guild card holder.

The card has the particularity of absorbing soul fragments and transforming them into experience points, which, once sufficiently accumulated, cause a phenomenon called "level up."

Thanks to the "level up" phenomenon, adventurers gain skill points.

"Through leveling up, adventurers obtain skill points. These can be used to acquire skills directly through the guild card—but only within the limits of the chosen class."

"I hope you understood, Mr. Noah."

I nodded, but I carefully asked a question that's been bugging me since the beginning of the explanations.

"One question."

She blinked.

"…Yes?"

"Is there any way to gain stat points directly?"

Confusion crossed her face, then slowly shifted into understanding.

"Of course, you can still raise your stats through training or consuming rare elixirs, but it's definitely hard to alter."

" I see."

Well, if the natives could control this aspect, they would become incredibly strong very quickly.

(…Except maybe that Aqua is maxed out in everything.)

Even thoughts she can't never gain intelligence, she remains a powerful and beautiful goddess... nature just balanced things out.

"Now that everything is settled, Welcome to the Adventurers Guild, honored Noah! I and the entire staff look forward to your future exploits!"

A bunch of adventurer clapped.

Then—

The system interface pulsed once more.

{Achievement Reward : The Adventure Begin.}

Choose between the two options.

Below it—

*Blessed Random Box: Obtain an item the Trainer wants.

*Cursed Random Box: Obtain an item the Trainer needs.

"…"

Really?

—END—

Well guy it just says hi, and I have a little question about this fic.

Someone I deeply trust tells me that I take my fic a bit too seriously like I was trying to make a proper novel.

Which is also why it's doesn't really make the viewer.

And strangely enough I really think that way sometimes, so for the few next chapter I will try to change that and you'll give me yours review about it.

Meanwhile, next Pokemon, the type with the more comments will be pull and with the Pokemon wanted. And please no Legendary except…. what the future and ancient Lizard ( because canonically they are not Legendary) and Cosmos.
