Chapter 60 - Chapter 60

Chaos was raging on the surface, and the chaos underground was no smaller.

With the arrival of the Ultimate Green Goblin and New Goblin Harry, the balance of victory seemed to be tipping toward the Spider-Men.

"We found a genetic match, Boss!"

A bespectacled researcher operated the electronic instruments, and then the genetic data began uploading into the database. The quantum streams inside the Quantum Collider started crashing into each other, creating a massive Quantum Black Hole.

Within that Quantum Black Hole, the blurry silhouettes of a woman and a little boy appeared.

When the fat slob Kingpin saw the two figures he had longed for day and night, he was overwhelmed with emotion even though they were still indistinct.

"Hurry up and open the Quantum Black Hole completely!"

He could not wait any longer. He was about to see his wife and son again, and this time, he would not lose them.

The emergence of the Quantum Black Hole caused distortions all around it. Every Spider-Person except Peter was affected to some degree. As the black hole continued to expand, Peter could even see Spider-Man comics, signed photos of Stan Lee, and game cartridges for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales drifting through the chaos.

Who knew what world they had floated in from.

But all of it pointed to one thing.

Multiple realities were being compressed together, and quantum space was collapsing.

The same thing was happening on the surface. The distortion of quantum space combined with the movement of the earth's crust had already thrown all of New York City into violent upheaval.

Buildings collapsed, smoke filled the air, some people trembled in fear, some ran in panic, some tried to evacuate the crowds, some were struck and sent flying by cars, and some were even infecting others. The superheroes were all trying to figure out how to deal with the disaster in front of them.

Only one figure standing high above the city remained silently watching everything.

That figure wore a Spider-Man suit, though his body had also started changing under the radiation produced by the Quantum Black Hole. The suit gradually tore open, and four blue-green arms extended from his back.

He now had six arms.

"I think we need to have a little talk, web-head."

A shield flew toward that figure, but after being blocked, it ricocheted away and returned to its owner.

The owner of that shield was Captain America.

The changes in the Spider-Man before him had gone far beyond anything he imagined. He knew Peter could no longer even be considered truly alive, yet he could still sense a remnant of thought inside him. It was just that this thought had become so narrow and rigid that the body's owner could barely think for himself anymore.

"Mr... Steve..."

"You've already turned this city into hell. We know why you're doing this, but did you ever stop to think whether any of these people wanted to become monsters? Monsters whose every action is controlled by your influence!"

Captain America raised his shield in front of his chest and looked at the man who felt both unfamiliar and familiar at the same time.

"I had... no... choice..."

"I'm not... really... alive anymore... This world is going... to be destroyed... I have... to do something..."

"And then what?! This universe gets destroyed, and you get cast into other universes to infect even more people? That would turn into a multiversal catastrophe!"

Doctor Strange floated upward into the air, his expression complicated as he looked at the Ultimate Spider-Devourer in front of him.

The Ultimate Spider-Devourer said nothing.

Then he fired a strand of webbing at the two of them. With six arms and two legs, he now looked no different from a humanoid spider as he leaped between skyscrapers and continuously dodged their attacks.

...

Elsewhere, Peter had finally ripped Shocker's gauntlets off completely and, without the slightest hesitation, smashed his head apart with one punch.

Nearby, Sandman, who was still fighting the Ultimate Green Goblin and New Goblin Harry, was visibly shaken by the gruesome sight.

Peter calmly flicked the blood off his hand and said in a cold voice, "Sorry. You didn't kill me, and now you'll never get the chance."

Then he tossed the headless corpse downward.

Shocker's body slammed hard into Tombstone, while the spider girls followed up one after another with flying kicks that left the brute completely dazed.

Elsewhere, Porker and Spider-Noir's combined assault had beaten that guy called Vulture so badly he could barely fight back. There were even several bullet holes in Vulture's body, courtesy of Spider-Noir.

"I didn't expect you to be such a ruthless Spider-Man, but it does look pretty cool."

Even New Goblin Harry was stunned.

If Peter had gone at him with that same level of brutality back then, his body definitely would have been blown apart. And Peter seemed to be growing stronger and stronger. It was impossible to see through him.

Maybe all of that had something to do with whatever passive ability of absolute slaughter he had awakened.

"I'm not the kind of Spider-Man who shows mercy. I have my own principles. Sure, talking things out can work sometimes, but the real answer is to stop killing with more killing."

The other Spider-People had seen Peter kill before, so this was not their first time witnessing it.

But at the beginning, he had still shown emotion when he killed.

Now he seemed colder and colder, more bloodthirsty, more violent.

For Spider-People like them, they were always taught to restrain their strength so they would not kill others.

But Peter was the exact opposite. He did not restrain his power at all. He killed his enemies with icy detachment, without the slightest ripple in his heart.

Sometimes even Gwen wondered whether Peter had already killed someone before becoming Spider-Man.

But she quickly dismissed the thought again. They had been childhood friends for so many years that even if they were not together every single day, it was close enough. He probably would not even have had the time.

In truth, the first time Peter killed someone, he had felt sick to his stomach, and his heart had pounded wildly.

But after seeing enough of it, numbness set in.

And with the influence of the Dark Suit on top of that, it seemed like none of it mattered anymore.

The Quantum Collider was now operating at such high power that space itself had started undergoing quantum collapse.

Even a subway train hundreds of miles away had been affected by the folding of quantum space and suddenly appeared here.

Strangely enough, though, the train was completely empty. There was not even a driver.

For example, Miles and the older Spider-Man had been toying with Doctor Octopus, and when they saw her finally snap, they thought they were about to be dragged into a difficult fight.

Instead, the subway train came roaring through and smashed straight into Doctor Octopus, sending her flying completely out of sight.

As for whether she was dead or alive, that was anyone's guess.

At that moment, Peter also arrived beside the older Spider-Man, grabbed the activation key, fired out a web, and disappeared again.

"Hey, that guy..."

"Is he trying to shut the collider down?!"

"You're overthinking it. Look over there."

Following the direction the older Spider-Man pointed, Miles saw the figure of the Ultimate Green Goblin and could not help swallowing.

"That guy switched sides?!"

"Maybe he did..."
