The magic circle flared beneath her feet.
The Golden runes around it spun violently. Before she could even scream, the ground opened like a hungry mouth and she fell through darkness.
She landed hard on cold stone.
The first thing she noticed was the feeling of emptiness that washed over her...the hall was vast ... so vast it felt like standing at the bottom of an endless abyss. Everything was dark as hell. Pitch black. No windows, no torches, no source of light except for five pairs of glowing eyes high above her, floating in the void like distant, merciless stars.
The eyes were different. She could tell them apart by color and intensity even in the suffocating darkness because they shone so brightly that they could be mistaken for torch lights but even with the glow they still didn't illuminate the hall.
- One pair burned with a fiery, passionate red.
- Another glowed with sharp, golden amber.
- A third pair was cold green.
- The fourth held a deep, oceanic blue.
