She nodded. She knew the miss well enough to understand that arguing would do her no favour. "Certainly," She said. Anne hesitated, her gaze lingering upon Penelope's face before adding, "Are you feeling quite well?"
Penelope let out a small sigh. "I am beginning to regret that question has become so popular today."
Anne blinked.
Penelope realized her mistake.
Then, to her credit, the woman managed a small smile. "I only meant—"
"I know what you meant." She cut in softly. Penelope softened her tone. "Thank you, Anne. I am simply tired."
The woman gestured towards the seating area. "Then please sit down while I fetch him,"
Penelope smiled. "I should rather stand."
"Miss Anderson—"
"Anne, I have not come all this way to sit in the entrance hall."
The maid pressed her lips together, clearly unconvinced.
Penelope looked toward the corridor. "Is he in his study?"
"Yes, miss."
"Then kindly tell him I have arrived."
