Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 The Eyes That Watch in the Dark

Night returned to Aurelion Elite University like a slow-moving shadow.

The campus lights glowed softly across the ancient buildings, illuminating pathways where students walked, laughed, and argued about the events of the day.

But beneath the ordinary noise of university life…

Something deeper was moving.

Rumors.

Whispers.

Questions.

All circling around one name.

Selene Valkrith.

Inside Room 307, Raven kicked the door shut behind them.

She tossed her jacket onto the chair and immediately turned toward Selene.

Her golden eyes burned with curiosity.

"Alright."

Selene calmly placed her bag beside the bed.

"Alright what?"

Raven crossed her arms.

"We're having a conversation."

Selene sat down and began removing her boots.

"About?"

Raven stared at her like she had just asked the dumbest question in the world.

"About the fact that the most mysterious girl in the entire university just turned out to have the same name as a dead supernatural dynasty."

Selene looked up calmly.

"Coincidences exist."

Raven groaned loudly.

"Oh come on."

She dropped onto her bed.

"You froze Kael Draven."

Selene corrected her.

"I slowed him."

Raven pointed at her.

"Exactly."

Then she leaned forward.

"And you did it without casting a real spell."

Selene remained silent.

Raven narrowed her eyes.

"You know what I think?"

Selene tilted her head slightly.

"What?"

Raven smirked.

"I think you're lying about something."

Selene stood and walked toward the balcony.

"Everyone lies about something."

Raven watched her carefully.

That answer wasn't a denial.

And that made it even more suspicious.

Outside, the night air was cool.

Selene stepped onto the balcony and looked across the university campus.

Her silver eyes quietly scanned the shadows between buildings.

There.

Three watchers.

Hidden well.

But not well enough.

Her senses caught the faint heartbeats.

Vampires.

Old ones.

Not students.

Selene's expression remained calm.

But inside…

Her mind sharpened instantly.

So it had already started.

Behind her, Raven stepped onto the balcony too.

She leaned against the railing.

"You know something?"

Selene didn't look at her.

"What?"

Raven smiled slightly.

"When people hide secrets this well…"

Her golden eyes flicked toward Selene.

"It usually means the truth is terrifying."

Selene finally glanced at her.

"Does that scare you?"

Raven laughed softly.

"No."

Her smile widened.

"It makes things interesting."

Across campus, inside the tallest tower of the university…

Headmaster Lucien stood beside a massive window overlooking the grounds.

Moonlight reflected in his golden eyes.

A vampire servant approached quietly.

"Headmaster."

Lucien didn't turn.

"You felt it too."

The servant nodded nervously.

"Yes."

Lucien finally spoke.

"Find out everything about the new student."

He paused.

"Selene Valkrith."

The servant hesitated.

"Headmaster… that name—"

Lucien's voice became colder.

"I know exactly what that name means."

Silence filled the room.

Then Lucien smiled slowly.

"And if the Valkrith heir truly survived…"

His golden eyes gleamed with centuries of calculation.

"This university just became the center of the most dangerous game in the supernatural world."

Meanwhile…

Deep beneath the university.

Far below the ley line.

The ancient sealed chamber trembled again.

Cracks spread across the stone door like spiderwebs.

Golden light pulsed from within.

A presence slept behind that door.

Something ancient.

Something powerful.

Something that had waited centuries.

And for the first time…

It was waking up.

Because the blood of Valkrith had returned.

Back in Room 307.

Raven eventually stretched and fell onto her bed.

"Alright mysterious roommate."

She yawned.

"I'm sleeping."

Selene remained on the balcony.

"Goodnight."

Raven closed her eyes.

But just before sleep took her, she muttered one last sentence.

"You know…"

Selene glanced back.

Raven's voice was half-asleep.

"If someone really destroyed your family…"

Her golden eyes opened slightly.

"I hope they pray you're not actually a Valkrith."

Selene said nothing.

But once Raven fell asleep…

Selene's silver eyes slowly darkened.

Because Raven had unknowingly spoken the truth.

Selene stepped fully onto the balcony railing.

Then she jumped.

Her body dropped silently from the third floor.

She landed softly in the shadows below.

No sound.

No witnesses.

The night swallowed her presence instantly.

Across the campus forest path…

Three hidden vampires waited silently among the trees.

Watching the dormitory building.

One of them spoke quietly.

"Are you sure it's her?"

Another nodded.

"The name matches."

The third vampire narrowed his eyes.

"Orders are simple."

His voice became cold.

"If Selene Valkrith is alive…"

"She dies tonight."

A quiet voice spoke behind them.

"I wouldn't recommend that."

All three vampires spun around instantly.

Shock filled their faces.

Selene Valkrith stood behind them.

Completely silent.

As if she had appeared from the darkness itself.

One vampire hissed.

"How did you—"

Selene tilted her head slightly.

"You were watching my room."

Her silver eyes were calm.

"But you forgot something important."

The forest suddenly felt colder.

"What?" the vampire asked.

Selene took one slow step forward.

"When hunters watch their prey…"

Her voice remained soft.

"They should make sure the prey isn't watching them back."

The three vampires attacked at once.

Fast.

Deadly.

Coordinated.

But none of them even touched her.

Selene moved like a shadow between them.

Effortless.

Precise.

Terrifying.

Within seconds—

All three vampires collapsed onto the forest ground.

Alive.

But completely unable to move.

Selene stood over them calmly.

"Who sent you?"

None of them answered.

One tried to bite down on a poison capsule hidden in his tooth.

But Selene stopped him instantly.

Her hand caught his jaw.

Her silver eyes darkened slightly.

"You don't get to die yet."

For the first time…

The vampires looked afraid.

Because the quiet girl standing above them suddenly felt like something far worse than a simple supernatural heir.

She felt like a ruler.

Selene knelt down beside them.

Her voice remained calm.

"But don't worry."

Her silver eyes gleamed faintly.

"I'm very patient."

Back at the dormitory balcony…

Raven slowly opened one eye.

She had heard something.

Her hybrid instincts stirred.

She glanced toward Selene's empty bed.

Then toward the open balcony door.

Raven smirked slightly.

"I knew it."

She rolled onto her side.

"This semester is going to be fun."

But as Selene questioned the mysterious vampires in the forest, one terrifying thought remained unanswered.

If someone had already sent assassins to kill her…

How many more enemies were still hiding in the shadows waiting for the last heir of the Valkrith Dynasty to reveal herself?
