Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Shadows Moving Toward War

Night fell over Aurelion Elite University like a curtain of quiet darkness.

From the outside, the campus looked peaceful.

Ancient towers stood proudly beneath the moon. Soft lights glowed through dormitory windows, and the distant sound of students laughing echoed across the courtyard.

But beneath that calm surface…

Something had changed.

Predators had begun to move.

Far from the university, five figures ran silently across the rooftops of a sleeping city.

They moved like ghosts.

Faster than wolves.

Quieter than vampires.

Each one wore dark armor designed for a single purpose.

Hunting royalty.

They were the Blood Hunters.

And their destination was already visible on the horizon.

Aurelion Elite University.

The leader of the hunters stopped briefly on the edge of a tall cathedral tower.

Below them, the city stretched like a sea of golden lights.

Behind him, the other hunters landed silently.

One of them spoke.

"So the rumors were true."

The leader removed his hood slowly.

His face was pale and scarred, eyes sharp as blades.

"Selene Valkrith," he said quietly.

The name hung in the cold night air.

Another hunter laughed softly.

"The last heir of a dead dynasty."

The leader's expression didn't change.

"Don't underestimate her."

The others looked at him.

"You fought Valkrith soldiers during the purge," one said.

The leader nodded once.

"They weren't soldiers."

His voice became darker.

"They were monsters wearing crowns."

Silence fell among the hunters.

Because everyone in the supernatural world knew the stories.

The Valkrith Dynasty had ruled with terrifying strength.

Their warriors could defeat vampire armies.

Their witches controlled ancient blood magic.

And their queen had once forced three Alpha Kings to kneel.

But that was history.

Or at least…

It was supposed to be.

The leader looked toward the distant silhouette of the university.

"Move."

Five shadows vanished into the night again.

Inside Room 307 of the dormitory building…

Selene Valkrith sat quietly on the balcony.

The moonlight illuminated her silver eyes as she looked across the campus.

Most students were asleep.

But Selene wasn't.

She rarely slept deeply anymore.

Ten years of survival training had changed that.

Her senses remained alert.

Always watching.

Always listening.

The night breeze carried thousands of scents.

Wolves.

Vampires.

Magic.

And something else.

Something new.

Something dangerous.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

Behind her, Raven stepped onto the balcony with two drinks in her hands.

"You've been staring into the forest for an hour," Raven said.

She handed Selene a bottle.

"Either you're waiting for someone… or you're planning to murder the trees."

Selene accepted the bottle.

"Neither."

Raven leaned against the railing.

"So you just enjoy dramatic moonlight moments?"

Selene took a small sip.

Then she said quietly,

"They're coming."

Raven blinked.

"Who?"

Selene's gaze remained on the dark horizon.

"The hunters."

Raven's expression slowly changed.

She wasn't joking anymore.

"You can feel them?"

Selene nodded slightly.

"Five."

Raven whistled softly.

"Five Blood Hunters?"

She shook her head.

"Well… that's not great."

Selene remained calm.

Raven studied her carefully.

"You don't seem worried."

Selene looked at her.

"I've been hunted before."

Raven crossed her arms.

"By Blood Hunters?"

Selene didn't answer.

But the silence told Raven everything she needed to know.

Raven suddenly laughed.

"You're insane."

Selene raised an eyebrow.

"That's the second time someone has said that today."

Raven grinned.

"Probably because it's true."

She jumped down from the railing.

"So what's the plan?"

Selene looked at the moon again.

"There isn't one."

Raven stared at her.

"You're serious."

Selene nodded calmly.

"They're coming here."

"And?"

Selene's silver eyes gleamed faintly.

"I'll deal with them."

Across the campus, another figure stood alone in the shadows of the training arena.

Kael Draven.

The future Ruthless Alpha King.

His crimson eyes were fixed on the same dark horizon Selene had been watching.

His wolf instincts were restless.

Uneasy.

Danger was approaching.

Real danger.

And his instincts kept pointing to the same person.

Selene Valkrith.

Kael clenched his fist.

"That girl…"

His wolf growled quietly.

Because deep down…

Kael knew something terrifying.

If the hunters came for Selene Valkrith…

The university might become a battlefield.

Deep beneath the campus…

The ancient sealed chamber trembled again.

Cracks slowly spread across the stone walls.

A faint golden light leaked through the fractures.

And the whisper returned.

"Soon…"

Because the return of Selene Valkrith wasn't just awakening enemies.

It was awakening something else.

Something far older than the Crimson Council.

Something that had been waiting centuries for the Valkrith bloodline to return.

Back on the balcony…

Selene suddenly stood.

Raven looked at her.

"They're close already?"

Selene nodded once.

"Very."

Raven stretched her arms with a grin.

"Well."

She cracked her neck.

"I guess tonight just became interesting."

Selene walked toward the door.

But before entering the room, she paused.

Her silver eyes looked across the sleeping university.

Students laughed somewhere in the distance.

Unaware.

Unprepared.

Selene spoke quietly.

"They'll try to keep this quiet."

Raven smirked.

"Blood Hunters aren't exactly known for quiet."

Selene's voice remained calm.

"They will be tonight."

Raven tilted her head.

"Why?"

Selene opened the door.

Then she answered simply.

"Because if they fail…"

Her silver eyes glowed faintly in the moonlight.

"The entire supernatural world will know."

Far beyond the campus walls…

Five Blood Hunters stopped at the edge of the forest.

The leader lifted his hand.

The others froze instantly.

He slowly looked toward the distant lights of the university.

His instincts screamed something strange.

Something powerful.

Something waiting.

The hunter whispered quietly.

"So the heir can feel us already…"

A slow smile spread across his scarred face.

"Good."

He lowered his hood again.

"Let's see if the last Valkrith truly deserves her name."

Because the hunters had finally arrived.

And before sunrise…

Blood would be spilled.

But when the legendary Blood Hunters finally confront Selene Valkrith, will they discover that the last heir of the dynasty they destroyed has already become something far more dangerous than they expected?
