Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Iron Man Eagerly Seeks Cooperation!

Despite her findings, Natasha did not report this discrepancy to Nick Fury. Instead, she decided to conduct a private investigation. She had always enjoyed unearthing secrets that were meant to stay buried, and since she was currently between missions, she figured she might as well find some "entertainment" for herself.

...

Meanwhile, Nick Fury returned to his office. Suddenly, his brow furrowed. While he maintained a stoic exterior, his heart was racing with suspicion as he sat at his desk.

He realized his office had been burgled. Specifically, a legacy item left behind by Howard Stark—something he had kept in this office for years—was missing.

A murderous glint flashed in Fury's eye. Scanning the room, he saw no signs of forced entry. This suggested the perpetrator was exceptionally skilled. Sure enough, when he checked the secret internal surveillance, the footage showed absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. The item had simply vanished as if it had never existed.

The sheer eeriness of the situation made his skin crawl.

"Damn it! Who did this? And what is their objective?!" Fury muttered, his gaze cold. After a moment of deliberation, he decided not to make the theft public. He would act as if nothing had happened.

...

Lin Feng was blissfully unaware of the chaos brewing in the intelligence world. His first "check-in" at a famous scene had successfully pushed Obadiah Stane over the edge, securing his system rewards. He had slept quite soundly that night.

The Black Rhino Armor, the Shadow Mask, and the Snake Talisman!

These three mystical items gave him the capital to establish himself and begin "snowballing" his power. With the Shadow Khan Legion already dispatched across New York, Lin Feng was eagerly looking forward to his next check-in.

The night passed without incident. The next morning, Lin Feng woke up early and prepared breakfast for himself and Jessica. He enjoyed cooking; it was a habit from his previous life as a loner.

"Good morning, Jessica," Lin Feng greeted her with a smile as she emerged from her room. "Breakfast is ready. Go wash up quickly, you have school soon!"

"Thank you," Jessica replied. Her voice was flat and her expression vacant. She still hadn't emerged from the gloom of her trauma. The death of her parents had been a devastating blow, leading to a period of suicidal ideation and lingering emotional disorders. Had she not possessed superpowers, an average person might have completely buckled under such psychological weight.

"Haha, don't mention it. I should be the one thanking you for letting me stay here," Lin Feng said, unbothered by her coldness.

After a quick wash, the two ate in silence. Lin Feng handled the cleanup while Jessica left for school. Currently, she was a graduating senior at Midtown High.

Lin Feng found this particular detail very interesting. Among Jessica's classmates were the famous Peter Parker and the renowned female lead, Gwen Stacy. Of course, as the future "Jewel," Jessica herself was a protagonist in her own right. All of them were high-priority targets for Lin Feng!

The system's "famous scenes" were naturally tied to these plot-relevant characters, and the rewards were cumulative. Checking in at scenes involving core characters like Tony Stark yielded incredibly lavish rewards.

"What should I do next?" After finishing the dishes, Lin Feng found himself with nothing to do. He was, after all, currently unemployed.

After some thought, he prepared to enter the Shadow Realm, summon the Black Rhino Armor, and practice his combat maneuvers. But just then, a sudden knock came at the door.

"Is a Mr. Lin at home?"

"Hmm?" Lin Feng's eyes narrowed, a cold light flickering within them. He didn't have any friends here. For someone to know his location and his surname suggested they hadn't come with good intentions.

But with his system rewards in hand, he wasn't afraid of being targeted. He walked to the door and pulled it open. To his surprise, the man standing there was a very familiar face.

"You must be Mr. Lin?" Happy Hogan said, looking somewhat apologetic. "I'm sorry to disturb you so early, Mr. Lin. It's quite improper. However, Mr. Stark asked me to deliver a gift to you. He hopes you will accept it."

With that, he held out a bulky envelope.

"Tony Stark sent you?" Lin Feng asked curiously, making no move to take the envelope. His tone was indifferent. "I don't accept rewards for work I haven't done. Tell me, what else did Tony Stark ask you to do?"

"Uh..." Happy was stunned to be rejected so flatly. His boss, Tony Stark, was a billionaire and one of the most famous figures in New York—if not the entire country. Very few people received such personal attention from him, let alone another man.

While wondering about Lin Feng's identity, Happy was shocked that anyone could so easily ignore the name "Tony Stark."

"Ahem, well," Happy said, recalling his boss's instructions. "Mr. Stark wanted me to tell you that he has no ulterior motives. He simply doesn't want to cause you any trouble. The items in the envelope are a token of his gratitude. To be honest, Mr. Lin, I don't even know what's inside myself."

"..." Lin Feng remained noncommittal. After a brief silence, he took the envelope and nodded. "Tell Tony Stark I've received his thanks. If there's an opportunity for cooperation in the future, I'll give him priority consideration."

"Cooperation? Priority consideration?"He was confident that with Tony Stark's influence, even if someone decided to dig into him, they would never find out he was actually an undocumented immigrant.

"Tony Stark certainly knows how to play the game. There might be an opportunity for cooperation in the future," Lin Feng mused, a slight smirk playing on his lips as he began to calculate.

The rewards from the system would only increase in the future. For items he didn't strictly need—especially those involving the field of technology—Tony Stark was indeed an excellent partner to have. At the very least, he had to live out the rest of his life in this world.

Of course, his version of "cooperation" wasn't exactly about mutual benefit.

So what if it was Tony Stark? What could be more satisfying than having the legendary Iron Man work for you and then turn around to thank you for the privilege?

With that thought, Lin Feng curiously picked up the bank card. He wanted to know how much Tony Stark considered a "small token." He estimated it would be a few million at least.

Beep, beep!

Soon, his phone received a text reply from the bank. Lin Feng glanced casually at the figure displayed.

"Oh? Ten million? Tony Stark really is deep-pocketed! Wait... ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten-thousands, hundred-thousands... a hundred million?!"

Lin Feng, who hadn't taken it seriously at first, couldn't help but click his tongue. Were all capitalists this extravagant? Giving away a hundred million just like that—wasn't Tony afraid he'd just take the money and run without giving him any face?

But after a moment's thought, he relaxed. The potential value of the Black Rhino Armor was worth far more than a hundred million; you could add several more zeros and it would still be a bargain. Tony Stark was clearly trying to "buy" his goodwill with cash.

Unfortunately, the billionaire was destined for disappointment.

"Then again, to Tony Stark, this amount really is nothing. Especially since... Obadiah Stane's shares have likely fallen into his hands now."

Lin Feng shook his head, not dwelling on the hundred million. If it were his old self, he would have been ecstatic. but now that he had the system and rewards like the Black Rhino Armor, what did this little bit of money matter? If he wanted to, he could build a corporation that rivaled Stark Industries with ease.

"Who says Tony Stark is cold and distant? He's practically overflowing with hospitality! But whether we can cooperate depends on whether Tony Stark still has any utility value."

Lin Feng put the items away, ignoring these minor details. Technically, he had saved Tony's life. This little bit of benefit wasn't enough to make him feel moved, let alone cause him to hand over the Black Rhino Armor for research.

It was like a man showing off his wealth to impress a woman; it was about the display of power, not the act of giving. Otherwise, what was the difference between him and a simp?

Hum—hum—hum!

Just then, the shadows in the corner of the room rippled. Several Shadow Ninjas emerged. They were shrouded in black tactical gear and bowed their heads expressionlessly. One of the ninjas held out a videotape with both hands.

"So, this is the 'Key to the Future'?"

Lin Feng took it, feeling a sense of nostalgia. Howard Stark had been a true genius. To be able to discover a new element in an era as technologically backward as seventy years ago was a testament to his brilliance.

But now, this so-called "Future" had fallen into his hands! Wouldn't Tony Stark be at his beck and call?

Buzz—

Suddenly, a series of images from the Shadow Khan Legion flowed into Lin Feng's mind. This was one of the innate abilities granted by the Shadow Mask.

"Hell's Kitchen? Daredevil and Kingpin? Interesting... looks like there's some entertainment to watch tonight."

Once the synchronization was complete, Lin Feng whispered, "I hope the rewards for this check-in don't disappoint me!"

...

Meanwhile, in Hell's Kitchen.

This was the most chaotic part of New York, a place where gangs were rampant and the authorities were reluctant to intervene. Although it was technically part of New York, the gangs held the real power in Hell's Kitchen.

Among the many factions, one man's name carried a terrifying weight: Kingpin.

In the eyes of most thugs, Kingpin was the uncrowned king of Hell's Kitchen. But wherever there is darkness, there are those brave enough to challenge it. Thus, the legendary Daredevil was born.

Daredevil's interference had disrupted many gang transactions, making him a thorn in Kingpin's side. To eliminate this threat once and for all, Kingpin had already woven a massive web.

In a towering skyscraper in Hell's Kitchen, Kingpin stood before a massive floor-to-ceiling window. He looked down at the tiny crowds below, his eyes burning with intensity though his face remained a cold mask. As the king of the underworld, he had long ago mastered the art of hiding his emotions.

But currently, a cold, murderous intent was surging within him.

Chapter 6: Theft at S.H.I.E.L.D.? The Black Braised Egg is Stunned!

"???"

Happy Hogan was utterly dumbfounded. He wasn't even sure how he managed to turn around and leave that apartment. He simply couldn't believe what he had just heard.

His boss, Tony Stark, had actively sought out someone for cooperation—a move already rare for the prideful billionaire. But Lin Feng's response? He didn't even seem particularly interested, merely stating politely that he would "consider" it.

Good grief, Happy thought, I must be dreaming. Is there actually someone in New York who treats a request from Tony Stark as a 'maybe'?

Inside the apartment, Lin Feng was blissfully unaware of Happy's existential crisis. He sat down and tore open the heavy envelope.

A bank card. An ID card. And a note:

"Mr. Lin, I know this may be presumptuous, but a proper identity is important when traveling. I hope this helps. The bank card contains a 'small' token of my appreciation—no password required!"

Lin Feng smiled thinly. He knew that with Tony's influence, this ID was as "real" as it could get. Even if the authorities looked into him, they would find a perfectly legitimate paper trail.

"Tony certainly knows how to be a gracious host," Lin Feng mused. "Perhaps a future cooperation isn't such a bad idea."

He picked up the bank card. He was curious about what a billionaire considered "a small token." He expected a few million at most.

Beep!

A notification from the bank flashed on his phone. Lin Feng glanced at the number and did a double-take.

"Wait... ten million? No... ones, tens, hundreds, thousands... a hundred million?!"

Even as a transmigrator with a system, Lin Feng couldn't help but click his tongue. Capitalists really were a different breed. To throw around a hundred million dollars just to buy some goodwill? Tony clearly recognized that the potential value of the Black Rhino Armor was worth far more than any dollar amount.

"Well, to Stark, this is pocket change, especially now that he likely has Obadiah's shares in his pocket."

He tossed the card aside. Money was good, but with the Sign-in System, he could build an empire of his own whenever he wished.

Hum—

The shadows in the corner of his room rippled, and several Shadow Ninjas emerged. One of them knelt and presented a small, old videotape with both hands.

"The Key to the Future..." Lin Feng murmured as he took it. This was Howard Stark's legacy—the secret to the new element that would save Tony's life later. Thanks to his Shadow Khan, it was now in his possession rather than sitting in Fury's office.

Suddenly, a mental image flashed into his mind—a psychic link from a ninja stationed elsewhere.

"Hell's Kitchen? Daredevil and Kingpin? It seems the fun is just beginning."
