Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Peak

"Now… what the fuck do I do?"

A boy with beautiful tan skin muttered with a sigh as his purple hair swayed in the humid, misty wind.

He took a deep breath and stood up on the black cube.

"Fuck, my leg!"

Let's analyse what just happened… the river disappeared when I first saw it..

The river had disappeared when he first saw it. Why would it disappear? If the river were a kind of Requim beast, then it could be a defence mechanism, but there is also one more possibility.

It would be so funny if this were a false treasury of a crazed priest!

He had heard many stories of combat warriors becoming absolutely unhinged after the ritual; some even say that to become a priest, one has to eat other combat warriors. Stories of priests becoming mad after the ritual and torturing men were as common as the folktales of the faceless boy.

Elias also considered the mind attack of the river and the mist as he sat on the cube, his toes barely grazing the water.

If this is a false treasury of a priest, then I can rebuild my tribe; the resources gained would also help me become stronger!

False treasuries were essentially man-made copies of true treasury or treasuries, true treasuries or treasuries were not made by Chinenkind, some called them gifts from gods, while some argued that they were treasuries of a long-lost civilization.

Treasuries introduced Chinenkind to Requim and mystical lights, while false treasuries were of Chinen priests who wanted to pass off their inheritances.

An immense wave washed over Elias; his covering was washed away long before when he was swimming earlier so he didn't mind.

it feels nice though; if not for this fuckass cut along my leg it would have been almost relaxing... wait

"What?"

His wound did not get wet at all!

Elias eyebrows furrowed as he bended over after hesitating for a bit. He scooped some water and threw it on his injured thigh.

"It got absorbed?"

The water from the river disappeared on his wound, seemingly absorbed by it; Elias thought for a moment and bit his tongue.

He tried to bleed a little from his tongue, but he couldn't, disappointed he looked at the river and laughed, "River boy… I am going to swallow you whole, bitch"

He lowered himself into the river as he gripped the black cube. His chiseled body dipped into the river and adjusted to the flow.

I don't feel hunger or thirst; this river is probably feeding me or something

His lean body had a thin layer of fat — essential for keeping him warm and helping him survive, but that layer did not hide his muscles. His upper body glistened brightly as he worked hard to keep himself from flowing away with the current.

Sweat rolled onto his tan skin as his third eye widened.

"I knew it! It is a damned false treasury"

Words written with the same mystic as the pond's glow were finally visible to Elias now that he was not exhausted and on the verge of collapsing!

Elias read them intently, his eyes widening with surprise as he felt something touch his submerged leg.

"This is a Requim creation technique? Blood tributary?"

A purple haired boy with tan skin was hanging from a pure black cube. His lower body was submerged in water as his eyes kept widening.

After reading for a few seconds, he sighed deeply and looked down at his chiseled body and the flow of the river. He then looked forward towards the mist and sighed.

He loosened his grip and dropped into the river, his lips curling into a wide smile.

This is really a false treasury of a crazed priest. How amusing?

He did not dodge any rocks, allowing himself to feel harrowing pain and get wounds all around his body. He laughed maniacally as was drowning in agony making him tremble.

A final test for the inheritor, huh… All I have to do is … what

Elias felt something touch his leg. It was soft and small like a vine rather than a rock.; it had a small hard part in it which touched Elias when the soft covering squished.

That was weird

Elias chuckled as he continued his train of thoughts

Basically, all I have to do is fight a -what the

Something hairy just touched his stomach. It was like a round rock with fur - at least that's how it felt to Elias.

There should be no Requim beasts here… anyway I have to complete the Requim creation by -what the fuck

Elias felt a… hand? Just touch him. It grazed his chest as he was swimming, and then he saw something terrifying.

A mountain of corpses was in front of him, towering a staggering 200 metres. The bodies were stacked on top of each other.

Elias inspected a corpse; it was that of a young woman with tan skin and long black hair. She was taller than Elias himself and did not have a hint of fat where it should not be. She was not rotting — no dead body in the mountain was.

However, her eyes were missing, and she did not have any skin. Her muscles and fat were visible due to the lack of any blood in her body. There was a patch of skin still left on her though. Her head still had skin, though it was scrunched up similar to when milk dries on a wrinkled animal skin patch.

Well, she was also covered in vomit, but that was Elias's fault.

Elias inspected her muscles and found that her muscles around her sides were mangled and her bones near shoulders were crushed.

Elias laughed at the body, thinking of her life.

She might have been a famous beauty in her tribe or an enchanting combat warrior… life is so funny sometimes

Elias laughed but calmed down almost immediately. He looked at the corpse and whispered.

"I hope that you had something good to think of before dying."

Elias checked other bodies around, daring not to go near the center of the mountain. While the reason was partly disgust and empathy for these poor souls, the real reason was much more dire.

He felt an intense murderous pressure near the peak of the mountain — and he had to defeat whatever was at the peak to escape.
