Chapter 15 - Far too Long

Flying through the air in a chopper with S.T.A.R.S written on its side.

Rika and Tajima made their way to their destination.

"You know I'm not the best with languages, especially English. Can you go through our mission one more time for me?" Tajima asked Rika.

"Fine, you're lucky I'm a patient woman," Rika said.

Rika recounted the brief meeting with the members of S.T.A.R.S they had before speaking to Tajima.

Even though they came in two choppers, only three actual members of S.T.A.R.S were on board those choppers.

She recounted the brief explanation the man named Chris gave them before their mission.

A company by the name of Umbrella was most likely the reason behind this whole outbreak.

Now the S.T.A.R.S members are here in Japan, apparently trying to gather more information at some secret Umbrella facilities here in Japan.

Rika finally spoke to Tajima.

"Our mission is pretty simple, we split up into two teams of three and search two Umbrella facilities hidden in Japan for more information on Umbrella."

Rika then glanced at the man sitting across from them.

"This is our third party member, Barry Burton," Rika said.

Tajima looked at Barry, who gave him a nod before he returned the nod back.

Barry spoke to the two before they could continue speaking.

"She's exactly right. We three are heading towards an abandoned industrial complex near the outskirts of Tokyo," Barry said. "According to the documents Jill found, it's one of Umbrella's facilities. While we search this industrial complex, the other two are searching another Umbrella facility in Chiba."

The talking stopped for a brief moment before the pilot spoke up.

"We'll be at our destination in less than a minute."

Barry nodded at the pilot before looking at Rika and Tajima.

"Get ready," Barry said.

They both nodded at his words, steadily preparing themselves for what was to come.

The chopper, arriving at its destination, slowly descended. Looking out the window, Rika saw the enormous abandoned industrial complex.

As they approached the landing zone, Rika caught something in the corner of her eye just for a second.

She gripped the pistol in her hand.

They likely weren't alone.

.....

Back in Rika's Home.

"On three," Kohta said. "One...two...three!"

Kohta and Takashi both pushed the crowbar with enough force to pry open the locked safe door in the master bedroom.

"About time this thing opened," Takashi said.

"So, what did we get?" Ryuji asked.

From behind them, the door to the room opened, and Ren walked in.

He stared at them for a moment before looking at Kohta drooling from his mouth.

Ren watched from the back as the three guys were laying out multiple Assault rifles and Shotguns on the floor next to a bunch of Ammo boxes.

Ren finally walked up to the pile of guns as Kohta was going through some orgasm trying to explain each and every single gun to them.

A certain weapon caught his eye, as he reached out for it and hgeld it in his hands.

Kohta's eyes widened at the weapon Ren was holding.

"That's a Desert Eagle, this isn't a 'spray and pray' weapon. If you use it, you'd better not miss," Kohta said.

"I won't," Ren said.

Some time passed inside the house.

Inside, the guys were filling each mag with bullets according to their self proclaimed weapon expert, Kohta Hirano.

Inside the room, the T.V was also turned on.

The screen displayed some sort of riot happening on a bridge.

As it turned out, they weren't far from the bridge.

Outside on the balcony, Ren stood next to Takashi. Takashi held out the binoculars to Ren.

Ren could see some glimpses of people on the bridge, but they were still too far to get a good look at them.

Ren put the binoculars down as he spoke to Takashi.

"With the amount of noise that bridge is making, it's only a matter of time before the bridge gets overrun," Ren said. "And even though I don't want to admit it, all that noise is going to attract the dead closer to our location as well."

"I agree with you," Takashi said. "I say we should move as fast as possible."

Ren didn't say anything back to Takashi, he just left the balcony and walked back into the room.

"Can you two help instead of just standing there doing nothing?" Ryuji said.

Ren ignored him, instead he turned his gaze to Kohta.

"Kohta," Ren said.

Kohta looked up at Ren when his name was called.

Ren continued, "Before we leave this house, I need you to help teach everyone how to use these guns."

"It doesn't matter if it's only one or every single one of these rifles, before we leave, I need everyone to be able to protect themselves," Ren said.

"Leave it to me!" Kohta said with an enthusiastic tone.

Kohta loved anything to do with the military, including its weapons. He was pretty confident in his knowledge and confident in his ability to teach everyone how to properly use them.

Before anyone else could speak, a pair of slender arms wrapped around Ren's shoulders from behind as soft lips pressed against his cheek.

"I finally found you...," Shizuka said with her voice slightly slurred.

Ren felt a pair of soft breasts press against his upper back.

A soft chuckle escaped his mouth, "You found me," Ren said.

Ren turned and held Shizuka. He looked down and saw a towel wrapped around her naked body, barely holding on from sheer willpower.

Ren looked at her flushed face before speaking, "Shizuka, you're drunk. Where did you even find alcohol?"

She didn't answer his question, instead she reached for another kiss on his cheek.

"This is your reward for all the times you've saved me," Shizuka said.

Ren didn't move. He just let Shizuka kiss his cheek.

"Well, what kinda man would I be if I refused a beautiful girl's gift?" Ren said.

Shizuka smiled faintly at his words, her eyes still unfocused but warm.

"Mmm…you always say the nicest things," she murmured.

She leaned into him again. Ren adjusted his grip without thinking, steadying her before she could tip forward.

"Yeah, well," he said, glancing down for a brief second before forcing his gaze back up, "Someone's gotta keep you from falling over."

Ren decided to do something before things got too dangerous.

He shifted slightly, keeping his left hand firm at her side so the towel wouldn't betray her at the worst possible moment. With his right hand, he swept both her legs up and carried Shizuka in a princess carry.

Shizuka let out a small surprised sound as her arms instinctively wrapped around Rens neck.

"Let's get you somewhere where you can rest," Ren said.

Ren glanced behind his shoulder, looking at the rest of the guys.

Kohta was completely frozen as some small amount of blood fell from his nose.

While Ryuji and Takashi stared in silence.

Ren looked at Takashi before speaking to him. "Looks like we're not leaving anytime soon."

Those were his departing words as he left the room, leaving the others behind to load the mags.

Walking towards the spiral staircase, he adjusted Shizuka in his arms so she was more comfortable in his arms.

"You're strong..." Shizuka mummured.

Ren let out a small chuckle before something caught his attention.

Rei was sitting on the staircase, with tears slightly running down.

He stopped a few steps away from her.

"Takashi! Need your help over here!" Ren shouted behind him.

Rei looked up at Rens shout. He didn't stop to ask what was wrong or comfort her, he just steadily walked down the stairs.

Footsteps came from behind them. "What happened?" Takashi asked worriedly.

Takashi saw Ren walking down the stairs before his gaze turned to the hunched, crying Rei.

Ren heard some of the conversation as he continued walking.

Walking into the living room, he saw Hina, Miyu, and Saya all lying asleep on the couches.

He put Shizuka down on an empty couch and wrapped a blanket over her naked body.

He stood and watched them for a second.

It had been a crazy couple of days that he had forgotten how breathtaking these girls are.

He didn't stay for too long, turned away and walked into the kitchen.

Standing in the kitchen was Saeko, she was wearing nothing but a white cooking apron.

Saeko turned her head slightly towards him.

"Ren, the midnight snack is almost ready," Saeko said.

He looked at the cooking pot on the stove before looking back at her. "Smells good," Ren said.

In an instant, Ren tilted his head to the side as Saeko's hand clung to his shoulder.

He was a bit shocked at the amount of strength she was putting in her hand.

Saeko's head hung low before looking up and giving Ren a good look at her face.

Her cheeks were flushed red, and she was slightly wobbly. Saeko had most likely also had a sip of alcohol like Shizuka.

Without another word, Saeko pulled Ren closer down to her level before speaking.

"Let's spar," Saeko said.

Ren stared at her flushed face for a second. There was something deeper in her words, not just the alcohol talking.

Before he could respond, a loud gunshot noise was heard from the room where Kohta and Ryuji were loading mags.

In two quick steps, Ren was out of the kitchen and already making his way up the staircase.

He burst through the door and saw Kohta, Takashi, and Ryuji standing outside on the balcony.

"What happened?" Ren asked as he rushed towards them.

Ren got his answer quick. The roads were flooded with zombies, he even a few of the running ones.

Ryuji pointed towards one of the houses next door and spoke.

"There's a little girl still alive trapped in the yard of the next house over. She was seconds away from getting torn apart, but Kohta took the shot and saved her," Ryuji explained.

Kohta adjusted his grip on his rifle, still looking downrange.

"I only bought her time," he said. "If were going to do something to save her, then we'd better do it now."

Ren tracked the direction Ryuji pointed towards. He finally spotted her, a little girl with red hair, was huddling in a corner.

With multiple zombies quickly filling the yard, Kohta took another shot and dropped another zombie.

Ren made a decision in that moment, he wasn't going to let any little kid die.

"Alright," he said, voice cutting clean through the tension. "We're not letting her die."

He turned slightly.

"Kohta, cover the street. Pick off anything that gets too close."

Kohta nodded without looking away. "On it."

He turned his gaze towards Ryuji. "I don't know how much you know about these rifles, but get a quick tutorial from Kohta, you're also gonna cover us," Ren said.

Ren didn't give Ryuji time to respond as he turned to Takashi. "You're with me."

Takashi nodded at his words.

"Lets go," Ren said.

.....

Back at the Abandoned Industrial Complex

In front of them stood a large steel wall.

Barry took a step towards it and ran his hand along the surface of the wall.

"This has to be it," Barry said.

Rika narrowed her eyes. "Hidden entrance?" she asked.

Barry didn't answer. He just reached into his vest and pulled out a small device.

He pressed the device to the wall before a faint beep came from it.

A low mechanical hum echoed from within the wall, before the metal surface split clean down the middle.

They all three stepped back as the two sections of the wall slid open.

A long, bright white hallway stretched forward.

"No way," Tajima muttered to himself.

Barry stepped forward first. "This is definitely an Umbrella facility," Barry said.

They moved inside before the doors shut behind them.

As soon as they walked further down the hall, an artificial voice echoed through the hallway.

"Welcome."

Rika tightened her hold on her pistol. She had never witnessed such advanced technology before.

"Facility systems online," the voice continued. "Unauthorized presence detected."

"Stay Sharp," Barry said as he continued forward.

At the end of the hallway sat a door with an Umbrella symbol painted on it.

They advanced slowly through the door, and upon opening they witnessed a bloodbath.

Multiple bodies in white lab coats lay'd across the new room. Each corpse had its own pool of blood.

Tajima lowered his voice.

"What the hell happened here?"

Barry didn't waste any time. "Search around for anything you can find," Barry said.

They moved at his words, searching through documents and files along the desks and tables.

As she was searching, Rika came across another door leading into a small room.

Inside that room was another dead body with some sort of note being held in its hand.

Rika slowly moved towards the body before picking up the note and reading it.

To any survivors.

Consider this a gift for anyone still unfortunate to still be alive. Keep your eyes peeled for those creepy fucks that look like they were skinned alive. "Lickers" we call 'em.

They're as blind as bats, but their hearing more than makes up for that. Either way, make like my grandma and creep as slow as possible around 'em, yeah?

The note cut off there, before Rika had any time to process the note, multiple gunshots came from the previous room that Tajima and Barry were in.

She shoved the note in her vest and rushed out into the other room.

As soon as she stepped into the room, chaos erupted.

White lab coats dragged across the floor as the corpses staggered upright.

Neither Tajima or Barry hesitated.

They aimed for their heads as gunfire thundered through the room.

Blood splattered across the white walls, painting them red as bullets tore through the zombies skull.

A vicious, inhuman shriek cut through the gunfire, stopping everyone in their tracks.

They all turned their heads towards the noise.

There it was, clinging to the ceiling.

Its brain was exposed and expanded, with large claws that it used to cling to the ceiling.

But what caught their attention the most was its lack of skin. It had no skin but pure pink muscle.

Another loud, inhuman shriek escaped from its jaw. Sliding out from its open jaw was a far too long tongue.

Rika felt her stomach twist at the sight of that thing.

Beside her, Tajima stared in disbelief.

"What the hell is that?"

.....

End of Chapter 15

Yo, wassup y'all, I apologize for the late chapter. I have been very busy these past few days, and I literally didn't even start writing this chapter until last night.

I'll try my best to get these chapters out as soon as I can.

I would also like to say that I appreciate the power stones the story has been receiving, even on the days that I didn't upload anything.
