Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Attack of the wolves

The moon hung high in the sky, bathing the world in its iridescent glow. It was quite beautiful, far more beautiful than the modern world that Rimuru and Blake came from. They were standing just outside the gate, teetering on the edge of the barrier that would serve as protection. From the horizon they could see the pack of direwolves making their way over to the puny settlement.

"Are you ready?" asked Blake as he looked up on his friend Rimuru who was standing there as calm as a bird. "I feel ready, though I am nervous" said Rimuru. "Its normal to be nervous in things like these, I would think you might have something wrong if you weren't" chuckled Blake as he surveyed the encroaching hoard. "I think its time" said Blake as he and Rimuru stood there as the pack and its alpha were in distance of them.

"Though, you can give them the option to surrender if it makes yourself feel better" suggested Blake as Rimuru seemingly took his suggestion in consideration, he was already planning on doing at this point, just to ease his former human heart. "Here me now! I am the protector of this village, and I will give you a choice, surrender to my authority...or die " said Rimuru. The wolves stopped in their tracks as they seemingly locked eyes with each other, using though communication to talk to each other mentally.

"Boss, this was the slime I told you about earlier" said one wolf and the Alpha of the pack seemed incredulous of his claim. "A slime? With an aura that could scare you? A runt is what you are, for no slime could even intimidate us" said the Alpha as the one he called a runt cowered in fear of retribution. "You will be dealt with later" the Alpha talked as he reared his head towards Rimuru and Blake. "We will not surrender to you weaklings, for we will take the village and all the meat we can think!" screamed the Alpha, whose voice was infused with intimidation and the skill [coercion].

The Goblins were cowering in fear from the skill infused roar, but they steeled themselves in the aura of their gaurdian deities. "Well, we tried" said Blake as Rimuru nodded. "We did try" said Rimuru as he faced forward as he activated the unique skill [Disaster Flames]. A ball of condesned heat, a sphere of lava manifesting into the world. "Well, here goes the test" said Rimuru as he shot the phere of lava at an unsuspecting wolf who seemingly melted instantly beneath the magma.

"Damn, that is one ability. Did you get anything else from Jogo?" asked Blake as Rimuru nodded. "Yeah, a few abilities like something called Domain expansion, but it is still being analysed for right now though it wont be long I think" said Rimuru. "Nice, well lets see how the direwolves react" said Blake as the wolves look at their decimated comrade and felt fury. "You bastards!" the wolves growled as many charged towards the gate, but their own little fillaments. Blood began to gush from their cut off heads and limbs, and their lives did not last much longer.

Their pack who didn't charge forward, now seemed fearful of what was ahead. The Alpha, despite the insistence of his son, seemingly began to charge forward in fury. "You bastards!" he roared, and he charged forward with speed that would seem out of place for normal wolves, but even he seemingly missed things in anger. His body became entangled in sticky steel thread and Blake was just there, walking up to the Alpha who snapped his jaws at Blake, a seemingly normal human.

"Well, goodbye sir" said Blake as magic formed in his hand and is formed a water blade. He slashed at the base of the neck of the direwolf alpha, and his head fell to the ground. "Rimuru, that's your qeue" said Blake as he stepped back as Rimuru slinked his way up towards the Alpha and consumed his with [Predator] and his body was no more. "Whew, that was...something" said Rimuru. "Of course, it was quite something to experience" said Blake. "Well, now its time for you to make them submit" said Blake as he stepped back, and conjured a thing of popcorn to eat, much to rimurus jealousy.

He took the form of the Alpha direwolf and infused his voice with [coercion] and after a minute or two, the wolves submitted without question. Might makes right, an absolute law of the world. Blake stood up and walked towards Rimuru and in his doggy form he gave him a good pet. "Hey dude, can you not?" asked Rimuru. "Of course bud" Blake raised his hand in surrender and decided to survey the battlefield. Blake then spotted a wolf who seemed smaller than the rest, but there was power within him that he could sense. "Hey Rimuru, can I have that one?" Blake asked Rimuru. "We both contributed, so technically wouldn't we both be their masters?" asked Rimuru, and the wolves nodded vigorously. "Nice" Blake said as he gave a thumbs up and approached the runt of the litter it seemed.

"Hello pup, you look cute" said Blake as he petted the Wolfs head, and though he looked indignant at his touch, but the fact his body instinctually leaned into his touch, seemed to disprove it. "How about this, I name you...Fenrir."
