Sairis's POV
The other father was Loreen Cavill.
Sairis had no doubt about that. There had been nobody else. Not after that night at the inn.
He had told Loreen himself that after their first night together he had not been able to open himself up to anyone else, and that was the truth. Which meant the child growing inside him right now had only one possible father and that father was the future king of Eryndor.
He sat with that for a moment and let it settle into every corner of his mind.
He had never imagined himself in a position like this.
Sairis had made choices and taken measures specifically so that a position like this would never arrive. He had been careful. He had always been careful, but it had not been enough.
And now here he was, seven weeks along, sitting in the royal infirmary of the very palace that belonged to the alpha whose child he was carrying, trying to work out what came next.
