Chapter 2 - Chapter 2:The thread between them

After that day in the library, Ariana and Jeremiah became inseparable.

It started with small things.

Morning coffee together before class. Long walks across campus under the shade of old trees. Late-night conversations that stretched until the stars faded into dawn.

With Jeremiah, Ariana felt seen in a way she never had before.

He noticed the little things about her—the way she tucked her hair behind her ear when she was nervous, the way her eyes lit up when she talked about her dreams of becoming a writer.

"You're going to write something amazing one day," he told her once.

Ariana laughed. "You say that like you're sure."

"I am," he replied. "Because when you talk about stories, your whole world changes."

Jeremiah had dreams too. Big ones.

He wanted to travel, start his own company, and make something meaningful out of his life.

But beneath his confident smile, Ariana could sense a quiet pressure he rarely spoke about.

One evening, they sat together on a hill overlooking the city lights. The wind moved gently through the grass, and the world felt peaceful.

Jeremiah took her hand.

"Ariana," he said softly.

"Yes?"

"If life ever tried to separate us… would you still remember this moment?"

She frowned. "Why would you ask that?"

"Just promise me," he said.

She squeezed his hand tighter.

"I promise."

Jeremiah looked out at the glowing city below them, his expression suddenly distant.

What Ariana didn't know was that his family had already made plans for his future—plans that didn't include her.

Soon, he would be forced to leave the city and follow a path he never truly chose.

And the love growing between them would be tested in ways neither of them were prepared for.

Because sometimes, even when two hearts are deeply connected…

Life still finds a way to pull them apart.
