Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Terror Wolf

Carter was deciding the character for System Ghost.

'A man with no face. A man with no name. A man with no past. No one knows what he actually is. Except that he is Ghost.

Yes. That's a fitting background for this character.'

Establishing a relationship with Nina now would be more beneficial. But keeping his character real was more important.

So instead of introducing himself, Carter left. He left with no explanation, just like a Ghost.

Nina watched as he lifted up the garage door and disappeared. Then she reacted.

"Wait!"

Nina followed Carter but was too slow. The garage door had already slammed back down. She also tried to lift it up.

"Why is this thing so heavy?!" Nina grunted.

She was a Mortal. But her body already had signs of awakening. She was much stronger than the average human.

When she got out of the garage, the mysterious man had already disappeared.

Nina froze in place. Her hand touched the smooth skin on her belly, where it was bloody just a moment ago.

For the first time ever, someone saved her without asking for something back.

[Synchronization +5.1%]

[Current Synchronization]: 12.3%

System Ghost had Free-Running skill. When Carter got out of the garage, he immediately vaulted over the wall and disappeared through the roof.

He saw the new window popped up.

'Synchronization increased… But why? Was it because I saved Nina or was it because I left?'

Carter had to experiment more in the future to know. He found a good balcony on a nearby house and sat down.

From there, he could see the garage and Nina freezing in place.

'Tch. Tch. Tch. Go inside, you fool. You can't survive out there.'

And as if Nina heard him, she went back into the garage to hide.

Carter rubbed his chin in deep thoughts. 'This world is dangerous… Most of the Cyber Slaves are probably going to die. Unless they hide. But if they hide, Cyber Runner would not be kind to them. What would you do for the next 30 days?'

Carter summoned the Infinite Skim System with his thoughts.

On the main interface, there was a red hammer icon. It was similar to the blue pulsating hammer icon that had appeared when he collected Skin Shards.

Carter had enough Skin Shards to make a new skin.

'Let's see what you'll give me. Fuse Ten Minor Terror Skin Shards (Mortal)!'

[-10 Minor Terror Skin Shards (Awaken)]

[Fusion in process…]

The red hammer spurred into life. Ten skin shards shot out from the storage and danced on the anvil as the red hammer smacked them into one.

All the skin shards quickly fused.

[Terror Wolf acquired]

'Terror Wolf?' Carter raised an eyebrow. All the Terrors he killed were human. But somehow the hammer forged a dog.

[Terror Wolf]

[Rank]: Awaken

[Star Level]: 3

[Ability]: Terror Form (Awaken); Possession (Awaken).

- Terror Form (Awaken): Living beings are naturally afraid of you. You can transform into a shadow and crawl through tiniest cracks. You will die if you touch sunlight.

- Possession (Awaken): You can possess and take control of a body of the same species as you. You will not die because of sunlight if you're inside a possessed host.

[Skill]: Level 3 Perception (Awaken); Level 2 Bite (Awaken), Level 1 Dog Fight (Awaken)

[Item]: None

'Hmmm?' Carter frowned. There was one single detail of the Terror Wolf that attracted his attention. 'Die if you touch sunlight… Are every other Terrors the same?'

Carter spotted a familiar face in the far distance. It was another Cyber Slave. He was one of Alan's boys.

Carter did not have any intention to leave any of them alive. He did not like to leave loose ends.

The faceless man climbed down from the balcony. He vaulted like a wind and before he landed, Carter switched skins.

[TERROR WOLF EQUIPPED]

A large wolf with dark red fur landed on the ground. Its snout was unusually long and it had six eyes like a spider.

Two eyes on the front. Two eyes on the sides. And two eyes on the back.

'So this is an Awaken Perception. I can see all around me…'

Carter gained 360 degrees vision. The red dog lifted its head up and howled.

The Primer was sneaking around in the alley, making sure he was not seen or heard by any Terrors. The sudden howl made his skin crawl.

"What the hell?" The Primer mumbled.

He immediately covered his mouth. He realized his big mistake.

The Primer heard something rushing at him. He snapped his head back to see a large red wolf charging him.

"No! No! No!"

The Primer ran as fast as he could. But he was simply Mortal. He couldn't outrun an Awaken Terror.

Carter jumped at his back and bit at his neck. The wolf's large jaw crushed the neck bone of the Primer and tore out a large piece of meat.

The Primer stumbled for a few more steps before tumbling down like an old tree.

This Synchronization was easy for Carter to decipher. He was a creature of hell. To become the wolf, he must kill more humans.

Carter approached the Primer, who was now covered in a bloody mess.

The red wolf lifted its head up and howled again.

[+1 Minor Cyber Slave Skin Shard (Mortal)]

'The night is my playground…'

The red wolf dashed away. When it went over a dark alley, it came back out as a swordsman in a white robe.

'At night, I can kill as many Terrors as I want for Eldritch Knight…'

Carter grinned widely.

'And as many humans as I want for Terror Wolf!'

Carter spotted a Terror not far from there. A man in black clothing laying in the middle of the street. His head twisted sideways while his elbows and knees bent backwards.

As Carter approached, the Terror bolted at him.

"Come, you ugly creature!"

Carter grabbed the Prisoner.

'Who is he?' Another Primer was also in the area. He hid inside a trash can and observed the white knight through the crack of the lid.

Suddenly, a woman's head descended from above. Her long black hair flowed down and a sinister crazed smile stuck on her lips.
