Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Stranger With His Face

Nora couldn't move.

Her heart was beating so loudly that she could hear it in her ears.

The man standing in front of her looked exactly like Daniel.

The same dark hair.

The same eyes.

The same face she had cried for every night during the last three years.

But his expression was cold… distant.

Like a stranger.

Nora slowly stepped closer, her hands shaking.

"No…" she whispered.

"This isn't possible."

The man frowned slightly, confused by her reaction.

"I'm sorry," he said calmly."But I think you made a mistake."

Her chest tightened.

A mistake?

How could this be a mistake?

She knew that face better than anyone in the world.

Tears filled her eyes as memories rushed through her mind.

The day they first met.

Their first kiss.

The promise he made to never leave her.

And the night she received the call that destroyed everything.

The accident.

The hospital.

The silence.

Her voice trembled as she spoke again.

"Daniel… it's me."

For a moment, the man stared at her without saying anything.

His eyes scanned her face as if he was searching for something.

But then he shook his head.

"I'm sorry," he repeated.

"My name isn't Daniel."

The words hit Nora like a knife.

Her legs felt weak.

She almost lost her balance.

People around them walked past without noticing the storm that was happening inside her heart.

"No…" she said again, this time louder.

"You're lying."

The man sighed and took a step back.

"I don't know who Daniel is."

"But you really have the wrong person."

Nora's hands trembled as she grabbed his jacket.

"You can't do this to me!"

Her voice broke.

"I saw your body… I cried for you…"

Suddenly the man's expression changed.

For a brief moment…

A strange emotion crossed his face.

Shock.

Fear.

Something deeper.

But it disappeared just as quickly.

He gently removed her hand from his jacket.

"You should go home," he said quietly.

"You're not well."

Then he turned around and started walking away.

Nora stood frozen under the rain.

Watching the man who looked exactly like the love she had buried three years ago.

And just before he disappeared into the darkness…

He stopped.

For a second.

He slowly turned his head.

And whispered something that Nora almost didn't hear.

"...Nora."

Her heart stopped.

Because she had never told him her name.
