Chapter 4 - The First Spellcasting

Bang bang bang~

The knocking interrupted Li De's thoughts, but the impact of looking at the other world for the first time was far from gone.

Vina walked into the room with lunch, and after a greeting, she skillfully laid it out on the Blue Heart Sycamore log table.

"Lord Li De, please enjoy."

"Thank you."

Li De sat down and, as if remembering something, asked the girl who was about to leave: "Has anything special happened in the city lately?"

Hearing Li De's question, Vina felt a slight joy. Although she was a maid, Li De rarely chatted with her.

"Lord Li De, I heard recently that the Mage Association is holding a Magic Seminar in November, and the three Archmages of the Mage Association will all attend."

"Anything else?" Li De straightened the tray; he wasn't very interested in meetings right now.

Recalling the scene he just saw through the window, he continued: "Are there always so many beggars on the streets?"

Vina quickly shook her head, "No, Lord Li De. Recently, the Orcs south of the Distant Mountain Range started another war, so there are more refugees."

She quickly added: "If you don't like it, I'll immediately send someone to drive away the beggars near the Mage Tower."

Most mages have eccentric tempers, and although Vina was unwilling to drive away those poor beggars...

...if those beggars angered Li De, she feared they might even lose their lives.

Li De shook his head. From the scene on the street just now, he could roughly judge the political, economic, and social status of the Nolan Empire or Green City.

High-and-mighty nobles, powerful slave owners, cautious Commoners, brutal mercenaries, poor beggars, and kind but conflict-averse shopkeepers.

It was not a stable world.

"No need. If there's extra bread, you can give some away as charity, but don't give too much. You may leave now."

Hearing Li De's words, Vina understood with a thought. Although her master was kind-hearted, he also understood the ways of the world.

If those beggars were given too much, they would gather in large numbers, which would be difficult to handle later.

Their Mage Tower was not the City Lord's Mansion; they didn't have the responsibility to aid beggars.

"Yes, Lord Li De."

Seeing that Li De didn't speak again, Vina pursed her lovely lips and left with her head down, her footsteps inevitably a bit dejected.

Li De was well aware of the maid's little thoughts but didn't say anything.

Giving some food to those beggars was fine, but it was impossible to help on a large scale.

His current identity was too dangerous. It was understandable for a Mage Master to occasionally show kindness by giving out food, but doing it frequently would make him an outlier.

That was the City Lord's business; there was no need for a mage like him to get involved.

He sat at the table and began to eat.

For vampires, human blood is food; this human food couldn't provide enough nutrients for the vampire... though eating it wouldn't cause any harm.

To hide his identity, the Vampire Progenitor would eat on time every day.

Li De wasn't a vampire at his core, so he naturally had a love for enjoying fine food. Thus, the Vampire Progenitor's task-like eating became a pleasure for him.

The lunch was quite lavish: a glass of milk, a large piece of magic-rich roasted meat, two large pieces of bread, plus two side dishes and a plate of dessert.

The most precious part was the roasted meat; only the meat of magical beasts could possess such rich magic.

In Green City, this piece of magical beast meat could be sold for at least fifty currency.

Meanwhile, a restaurant waiter's salary was only about 10 currency a month.

The piece of meat in his lunch was enough for a family of three's rations for a year.

In glory, the currency is divided into currency, currency and currency, with an exchange rate of 100 currency = 1 currency, 100 currency = 1 currency.

The currency is the basic unit. 1 currency can buy a piece of black bread on the street, with purchasing power roughly equivalent to 1 RMB.

But the worlds are different, so it can't be calculated that way. Although glory is a supernatural magic world, it's still set in a Western medieval background with low productivity, so its purchasing power should be even stronger.

As an elite member of the Green City Mages Association and a Baron bestowed by the Nolan Empire, Li De could receive a subsidy of 20 currency every month.

Additionally, because the area near the Scarlet Mage Tower was under his protection, he could collect an extra protection fee of about 10 currency each month.

Plus, some friendly nobles would provide him with a certain fee every month for protection, which amounted to 20 currency.

So Li De's current monthly income was around 50 currency, while maintaining the Scarlet Mage Tower cost 20 currency a month, leaving a surplus of about 30 currency.

Eating a meal of magical beast roasted meat, which seemed extravagant and expensive to ordinary people, was nothing to him.

The magic-rich roasted meat melted in his mouth, and the dense magic began to wash over every cell after entering his body.

It felt like his body was taking a massage bath; every cell was cheering and leaping with joy.

"This is a pure 'Great Treasure Sword' experience."

Li De looked comfortable. No wonder the price of magical beasts was hyped so high.

After eating the magical beast roasted meat, other food seemed a bit bland. He finished the food on the table in a few bites.

After resting for a while, Li De looked at the magic skills on the status panel, eager to try them.

As a person from Earth, his curiosity about these supernatural abilities was beyond doubt.

Especially after transmigrating, that curiosity became even more intense.

Magic—the magic of these two words was more attractive than gold coins.

Although he had no spellcasting experience, after receiving the Vampire Progenitor's memories, Li De was incredibly familiar with these skills and spells.

It was as if he had learned them by practicing tens of thousands of times.

There was no sense of unfamiliarity at all.

This made him breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Glory World was not a peaceful world; it was full of various evil races.

Without some strength, it was truly uncertain if one could survive well.

He was now in the game as the Vampire Progenitor and might not be able to resurrect infinitely like players.

If he really died and couldn't resurrect, then he would be truly finished.

Magic.

Li De shifted his focus to his skills.

For a modern person, only this kind of ability beyond reality would pique his interest more.

It began.

The magic practiced countless times in the original body's memory formed a line-point diagram in the mental sea.

magic model.

A familiar yet strange name.

If a mage wants to cast a spell, they must activate the magic model.

A magic model consists of two parts: magic nodes and magic circuits.

magic nodes are fixed points, and the paths connecting them are called magic circuits.

Magic power starts from the first magic node and is input into the second magic node through a fixed magic circuit, and so on.

Once the last magic node is activated by magic power, the magic model is formed, and the spell can be released immediately.

The principle of magic is not difficult to understand, but understanding and using it are two completely different things.

A mage must carve the model of the spell into their mental sea to cast it.

The dozen or so spells the Vampire Progenitor learned were all successfully carved magic models.

Now, to cast a spell, he only needed to input magic power according to the original magic model.

After recalling the spellcasting process several times, Li De suppressed his inner excitement and slowly regained his calm.

It's best to be mentally calm when casting spells; excessive emotional fluctuations will affect the casting effect. This is common knowledge for mages.

Only after his heart calmed down did Li De begin to mobilize magic power and slowly send it into the magic model.

Magic Missile.

The simplest introductory spell for a mage, a first-circle magic.

A first-circle magic connects no more than a hundred magic nodes, and Magic Missile only has fifty magic nodes.

If the original body were to cast it, this first-circle magic could be successfully cast with a snap of the fingers.

But Li De was a rookie after all, and he was still a bit nervous.

He held out his left hand, mimicking the release posture in his memory, and began to silently call upon his magic power.

Five seconds later.

Whoosh~

An apple-sized orange-red fireball floated in the air above his hand.

The scorching fireball caused the temperature in the study to suddenly rise by several degrees.

Li De was full of surprise.

Success!!

The first spellcasting was actually successful!!

He was intoxicated; those who haven't experienced it can hardly imagine the pleasure of summoning a fireball from their hand.

This was magic far beyond reality.

Li De could clearly feel that he could control the fireball in his hand at will.

With only mental power to guide it, this fireball could fly towards an enemy at a speed of dozens of meters per second.

Its power was no less than a gas tank explosion.

If he wanted to continue increasing the power, he could continue to input magic power into the Small Fireball to strengthen it.

Looking around at the storage shelves in the magic laboratory, he shook his head and extinguished the idea.

Guided by his mind, the Small Fireball danced in front of him like a tethered balloon.

The blazing flames emitted an amazing temperature, and the temperature in the room continued to rise because of the presence of this Small Fireball.

The orange-red fireball was like the most beautiful flower, dangerous and mysterious.

The hot, bursting Small Fireball flew up, down, left, and right, spinning on his fingertips, bouncing under his feet, and floating before his eyes.

Li De's mind was completely immersed in the magic.

It wasn't until half a sun hour later that he slowly stopped sending magic power into the Small Fireball.

Without the support of magic power, the Small Fireball began to shrink slowly, the orange-red scorching light also gradually dimmed, and after a few minutes, it vanished into nothingness.

This is magic.

Li De's interest in magic immediately rose to the extreme after casting the Magic Missile.

He loved the feeling of controlling magic power too much; he swore the feeling of a fireball dancing on his fingertips was far more rewarding than anything else.
