SF Chapter 147: Private jet
A few days passed, and the calendar finally turned to the new year, 2004.
Dani's latest movie, Easy A, had already premiered during the first week of January.
After the official Los Angeles premiere, Dani and part of his family were now heading to New York for the second premiere - as usual - and, more importantly for most of them, a vacation.
Dani settled deeper into his seat and looked around with an impressed grin.
"Whoa, Dad, this is way better! We should do this more often!" he praised.
Jay had chartered a private jet for the trip to New York.
"It's a little expensive," Jay admitted before taking another sip of his whiskey. "But I think we can afford to spoil ourselves once in a while."
He and Gloria were seated across from Dani.
Next to them, Claire wore a horrified expression, while Phil had already wandered off to explore the cabin like a kid visiting an amusement park for the first time.

Dani relaxed comfortably in one of the leather seats.
"Since they went to NY last time, Mitchell and Cam decided to sit this trip out."
"My idea was to give Dad and Sis some time alone with their partners. You know... an actual vacation," he revealed.
"So Alan is staying at Claire's house, taking care of Alex, Haley, Jake, Manny, and Luke."
He paused.
"God save him," he added playing for his brother.
"Haley is supposed to help too. Since she got her car at the end of last year, she's been surprisingly helpful - she didn't even complain about not coming to New York."
"And I promised Alan a nice reward... maybe I'll grant him a new car."
"Oh," Dani finished, "Lexi couldn't come - she's with her family. So only Prudence came... and Amanda - she's the lead and needs to attend the premiere anyway."

"Thank you for inviting me, Mr. Pritchett," Amanda Seyfried said, grateful for the ride. She was still amazed by the luxury.
Jay simply dismissed it with a wave of his hand.
"You don't seem that impressed, Prudence," Gloria said, striking up a conversation, curious about her reaction. The girl was acting like this was completely normal to her.
"Oh, my dad has one of this," Prudence replied nonchalantly.
Almost everyone's eyes widened, and Dani snapped his head in her direction.
"Your dad has a plane?!" he gasped. "You never told me you were THAT rich."
She looked at him and shrugged. "I didn't think it would change anything."
"Wouldn't change anything?" he mocked. "Hey, why am I working so hard? I could just marry you and be a trophy husband." Dani struck a proud pose.
Claire slowly turned to him, clearly disapproving of his idea of marriage, while Jay's eyes twitched at his claim of 'working hard'.
"Not a bad idea," Prudence chuckled.
"Dani-bro, there is definitely something wrong with your luck," Amanda joked. Not only the girl was ridiculous beautiful, she is even very rich.
She had been very surprised when she first saw Prudence at the premiere.
Seeing Gloria looking sleepy, Jay stood up and gently pulled her along. "We're going to take a nap for a while."
"Put a tie on the door, just in case," Dani warned, earning a smack on the back of the head from his father.
They went to sleep in the cabin with a bed that the plane had.
"Sis," Dani said, taking her hand. "Come on, there are things way more terrifying than flying."
Claire, who had a fear of flying, just narrowed her eyes at her brother.
"Imagine Haley. She's just turned sixteen. With only Alan as supervision..." he hypothesized. "We could come back and you'd already be a future grandma."
Claire stopped and thought for a moment. "What have I done?" she muttered, now horrified for a completely different reason, before getting up and heading toward her husband.
Amanda mocked, "You really are a menace, little brother, Dani."
But before he could reply, the flight attendant arrived with drinks and snacks.
"And here you go, for your girlfriend," she said, serving Amanda.
The blonde shook her head. "Dani is not my boyfriend."
"Unfortunately, not mine either," Prudence added, noticing the attendant's gaze shift toward her.
"Too bad," the young attendant said, shooting Dani a look as she casually brushed her hair back.
After she left, Prudence remarked, "Wow, she totally gave you the 'bedroom eyes', Dani."
"What are the 'bedroom eyes'?" Amanda asked.
"Some girls give you the 'bedroom eyes' when they want to sleep with you, while others just naturally have them," Dani replied. "By the way, I call them 'fuck me' eyes."
Amanda stared at him. "Do I have 'bedroom eyes'?"
"No," Dani denied. "You have 'give me the ring, my precious' eyes."
Prudence laughed out loud, while Amanda took a moment longer to understand.
"Did you just call me Gollum?" she made a face and started playfully slapping him.
Soon, they were all laughing.
"That was mean," Amanda pouted. "But you can use it in the interview we're doing with David Letterman next week."
"I'll think about it," Dani said dismissively.
"What else should we talk about in the interview?" she asked.
He waved his hands in refusal. "I don't like planning it out. I prefer it to be spontaneous."
"Ohh," He exclaimed, remembering something. "There's a high chance I'll flirt with you during the interview. If you don't like it, just make a gesture, or we can ask them to cut it from the final edit."
"Whoa," the blonde exclaimed. "So you don't have more restrictions?"
"Nope. The movie's already done," Dani replied. "So you'd better watch it if you're going to keep sending me provocative messages."
Amanda narrowed her eyes at him, then turned to Prudence. "You're okay with that?"
Prudence just stared at her intensely.
"Did she just give me-" Amanda turned back to Dani to ask, but he gave her the same kind of look as Prudence.
Amanda looked at one, then the other, and finally nodded slowly, a bit ironically. "Okay… now I think I get the whole 'bedroom eyes' thing…"
Dani and Prudence laughed.
-----------
Author's note: The "fuck me eyes" line is a joke from Ted 2, with Amanda herself. (Spoiler: this is also one of the movies I want Dani to make. But he would do it in collaboration with MacFarlane and Howard - with the more offensive jokes being blamed on those two.)
