Chapter 21 - The First Origin Qi Breakthrough

The courtyard was bathed in the soft glow of dawn. Michael stretched, his body humming with residual energy from the previous day's work in the forge. Matthew sat cross-legged beside the pile of herbs, focusing his mind on the subtle flow of Qi.

"You feel it too, right?" Michael asked, his voice low.

Matthew nodded slowly. "It's… stronger. The energy inside us is consolidating faster than before."

The dragon turtle spirit stirred within their consciousness, its voice deep and resonant.

It is time.

Matthew's eyes widened. "Time for what?"

Your first Origin Qi breakthrough.

The words reverberated in their minds. Both twins felt a sudden surge of energy, unlike anything they had experienced. Their bodies tensed, their breath catching as the Long Airloom Technique activated on a deeper level.

Michael gritted his teeth. "It feels… painful."

Matthew's voice was steady, though his fingers trembled. "Control it. Follow the flow."

Streams of Qi, normally invisible, became visible in their perception. Golden and dark currents intertwined, circling around their meridians. It was chaotic, overwhelming, yet beautiful in its complexity.

"Michael… focus!" Matthew shouted. His voice carried both urgency and command, as though channeling his twin's instinctive cooperation.

Michael clenched his fists, channeling his energy into the proper conduits. A sharp pain surged through his chest, spreading into his arms and legs. Sweat poured down their faces as the Qi sought to consolidate.

The courtyard seemed to bend around them. The wind picked up, rustling the plum blossoms violently, though the surrounding walls remained untouched. Their Qi interacted with the environment, a subtle hum filling the air.

Suddenly, a blinding flash of light erupted. The twins' bodies glowed, their Yin-Yang balance amplifying the energy in a perfect storm. A wave of pressure emanated outward, shaking the very ground.

When the light subsided, Michael collapsed to his knees, gasping for breath. Matthew lay on the ground beside him, sweat streaming down his face, yet his eyes shone with triumph.

"We… we did it," Matthew whispered. "We broke through the first Origin Qi stage."

Michael nodded, barely able to speak. "And it's… stronger than anything I imagined."

Inside their minds, the dragon turtle spirit spoke, its tone calm but full of pride.

You have done well. But do not forget… every breakthrough comes with a cost. The Long Airloom Technique demands balance, discipline, and sacrifice.

The twins exchanged a look. Pain, exhaustion, and exhilaration mingled in their expressions. They had just taken the first step toward a destiny that few could ever imagine.
