Chapter 20 - The Whisper of Betrayal

That night, the twins returned home, exhausted but triumphant. Five newly earned spirit stones lay on the table, their first real fortune. Michael cleaned his hands and set the newly forged dagger carefully beside them.

Matthew sat cross-legged, examining the batch of herbs from their farm. "We've really advanced quickly. With these resources, our cultivation can improve exponentially."

Michael grinned. "Imagine what we could do if we had unlimited resources. We could refine energy, create weapons, and even produce rare pills with perfect purity."

Then, the dragon turtle spirit's presence filled their consciousness, calm but with an unmistakable warning.

Be wary. The clan is watching more than you realize.

Matthew frowned. "Why warn us now?"

Because they fear what they do not understand. The Long Airloom Technique is dangerous in hands that cannot be controlled, and you are already walking beyond expectations.

Michael's face hardened. "Then we should prepare. They may try to interfere, but they cannot touch us unless we allow it."

Outside the courtyard, shadows shifted. Elders and other observers whispered, plotting, measuring, and calculating. The twins' rapid rise had disrupted the subtle balance within the clan.

Little did Michael and Matthew know, the first threads of betrayal had already begun to weave, slowly entangling them in the very clan that had once been their home.

The path ahead was dangerous. But one truth remained clear: to survive, they could no longer hide. Their destiny—intertwined with the Long Airloom Technique, the dragon turtle spirit, and their own untapped potential—was only beginning.

The moonlight fell across the courtyard, shining down on the twin boys who, with determination burning in their eyes, were ready to face whatever the clan and the world would throw at them next.
