Chapter 30 - Ch-30 The Future Unwritten

Morning light slowly crept across the ancient towers of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The castle looked peaceful.

Owls returned to their nests.

Students crossed the courtyard, laughing and complaining about homework.

Everything looked normal.

But for Albus Potter, normal no longer felt the same.

---

He stood alone near the edge of the courtyard.

The Black Lake shimmered in the distance.

Behind him the enormous castle walls rose like guardians of history.

So much had happened.

Time travel.

Broken timelines.

A future where darkness had almost won.

And somehow…

They had survived it.

---

Footsteps approached.

Scorpius Malfoy appeared beside him.

Holding two butterbeers.

"One for the hero," Scorpius said.

Albus smiled.

"I thought we agreed we weren't heroes."

Scorpius shrugged.

"Fine."

"One for the guy who accidentally broke time."

Albus laughed.

"That's more accurate."

---

They sat on the stone steps.

For a moment they simply watched the lake.

Scorpius finally spoke.

"You ever think about the other timelines?"

Albus nodded slowly.

"Yes."

"The ones we erased."

Scorpius looked thoughtful.

"In one of them…"

"You were probably the most famous wizard in history."

Albus shook his head.

"I didn't like that version."

"Why not?"

Albus answered honestly.

"Because I wasn't me."

---

Scorpius understood.

They had both seen versions of themselves that didn't feel real.

Versions shaped by different choices.

Different histories.

And different fears.

Scorpius said quietly,

"You know something?"

"What?"

"For the first time in my life…"

"I'm actually glad things turned out the way they did."

Albus smiled.

"Even the library punishment?"

Scorpius sighed dramatically.

"Okay, maybe not that part."

---

At that moment a familiar voice called out.

"Albus."

He turned.

Harry Potter walked across the courtyard.

The sunlight reflected faintly off his glasses.

Scorpius stood up immediately.

"I should probably go."

Harry smiled.

"Actually…"

"I wanted to talk to both of you."

Scorpius froze.

"Oh."

"That's slightly more terrifying."

Harry laughed softly.

---

They walked together along the stone path beside the lake.

For a while Harry didn't say anything.

Then he stopped.

"You both showed something rare."

Scorpius looked confused.

"Questionable decision-making?"

Harry smiled.

"Courage."

Albus looked down.

"Sometimes courage looks a lot like stupidity."

Harry nodded.

"That's often true."

---

Harry looked out over the lake.

"When I was your age…"

"I made choices that changed the entire wizarding world."

Albus said quietly,

"I know."

Harry turned toward him.

"But I never had to face something as strange as time itself."

Scorpius added,

"To be fair, we didn't plan that either."

Harry laughed.

"I figured."

---

Then Harry's expression became serious.

"But there's something important you need to understand."

Both boys listened carefully.

"History isn't something we control."

"It's something we learn from."

Albus nodded slowly.

"And the future?"

Harry smiled slightly.

"The future is different."

He placed a hand on Albus's shoulder.

"The future is unwritten."

---

A breeze moved across the lake.

For a moment the three of them simply stood there.

Looking out at the endless water.

At the towering castle behind them.

At the world waiting ahead.

Scorpius finally broke the silence.

"So…"

"What now?"

Harry smiled.

"Now you two finish school."

Scorpius groaned.

"Worst ending ever."

---

But Harry added one more thing.

"And someday…"

"You'll help shape the wizarding world."

Albus felt something shift inside him.

For the first time in his life…

The future didn't feel like a burden.

It felt like an adventure.

---

Later that evening the Great Hall glowed with candlelight.

Students filled the long tables.

Laughter echoed beneath the enchanted ceiling.

Albus sat beside Scorpius.

Looking around the hall.

This place had seen centuries of magic.

Wars.

Heroes.

Legends.

And now…

A new generation.

Scorpius leaned closer.

"You know what I realized?"

"What?"

"No matter how many timelines we change…"

"Hogwarts always stays Hogwarts."

Albus smiled.

"Yeah."

"It does."

---

Outside the castle…

The stars slowly appeared in the sky.

Somewhere far away…

In a prison cell surrounded by powerful magical wards…

Delphi stared through the bars of her window.

She whispered softly to herself.

"Time is patient."

And she smiled.

---

Back at Hogwarts…

Albus Potter laughed with his best friend.

Unaware that the future was already beginning to move.

Because time…

Never truly stops.
