Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The Day Before the Butterfly

Rain tapped softly against the window of the small Tokyo apartment.

Not the heavy rain of a storm.

Just a quiet drizzle — the kind that made the city feel strangely distant.

Haruki Akizawa opened his eyes.

For a moment, he didn't move.

Something felt wrong.

No… not wrong.

Different.

The ceiling above him was unfamiliar. Plain white. Slightly cracked near the corner.

He slowly sat up.

The room was small. A single desk. A cheap bookshelf. A narrow bed. A half-open suitcase on the floor.

Haruki frowned.

"This isn't my room."

He stood up.

Memories flooded his mind — but they didn't align.

Two sets.

One from a normal life… somewhere far away.

And another belonging to Haruki Akizawa, a university student living alone in Beika City, Tokyo.

The second set of memories felt freshly inserted.

He walked toward the mirror.

The face staring back was unfamiliar but calm.

Black hair. Sharp eyes. Thin glasses resting on the bridge of his nose.

A composed face.

Too composed.

Haruki studied his reflection quietly.

"So… this is me now."

His mind worked rapidly.

Two memories.

Two lives.

One conclusion.

He had transmigrated.

But the most shocking realization came a moment later.

He looked at the calendar on the wall.

April 4th.

His eyes narrowed.

"That date…"

If his memories of the anime were correct…

Tomorrow was the day Shinichi Kudo would go to Tropical Land with Ran Mori.

The day everything began.

The day Shinichi would encounter Gin and Vodka.

The day APTX-4869 would change his life.

Haruki exhaled slowly.

"So I'm inside the Detective Conan world."

Silence filled the apartment.

A strange calm settled in his chest.

Most people would panic.

Haruki did not.

He simply sat at the desk and began thinking.

Fast.

Precise.

Systematic.

If the timeline was correct…

Then tomorrow night, Shinichi Kudo would shrink into Conan Edogawa.

One of the most famous stories in manga and anime history would begin.

Haruki tapped the desk lightly.

"Do I interfere?"

If he prevented the poisoning…

The entire timeline would collapse.

But if he didn't…

The Black Organization would remain hidden.

And Shinichi would become Conan.

Haruki leaned back in his chair.

"Changing the story blindly is dangerous."

The future in this world was not guaranteed to follow the anime exactly.

Once he interfered…

Everything could change.

Unpredictably.

That's when it happened.

A faint mechanical sound echoed inside his mind.

DING

A translucent blue screen appeared before his eyes.

Haruki didn't react outwardly.

But internally, his attention sharpened instantly.

[ SYSTEM INITIALIZING ]

Strategic Deduction System activated.

Synchronization complete.

Host confirmed: Haruki Akizawa

Haruki stared at the floating interface.

"Of course."

A transmigration without a system would be too boring.

Another notification appeared.

Haruki's eyes reflected quiet interest.

"So the system wants the timeline preserved… for now."

That aligned with his own thoughts.

Good.

Another screen appeared.

Haruki analyzed the numbers.

"High… but not extraordinary."

Shinichi Kudo's deductive ability was probably much higher.

Which meant…

He would need to grow.

Slowly.

Strategically.

The rain outside stopped.

Morning light slipped through the window.

Haruki stood and grabbed a jacket.

There was something he wanted to confirm.

Twenty minutes later.

He stood outside a familiar building.

A simple detective agency.

A sign hung above the door.

Mouri Detective Agency

Haruki adjusted his glasses slightly.

"So it really is this world."

He looked across the street.

A young girl with long brown hair walked beside a tall teenage boy.

They were laughing.

Ran Mori.

And Shinichi Kudo.

Haruki observed silently.

Not approaching.

Not interfering.

Just watching.

The boy was exactly how he remembered.

Confident.

Sharp.

Annoyingly observant.

Shinichi suddenly stopped walking.

His eyes scanned the street briefly.

Then they passed over Haruki.

For a second…

Their gazes met.

Two analytical minds instinctively measuring each other.

Shinichi looked away first.

Haruki remained still.

"His awareness is impressive."

Interesting.

Very interesting.

Ran tugged Shinichi's sleeve.

"Come on! We'll be late for school!"

Shinichi sighed.

"Relax, Ran. School isn't going anywhere."

They walked off.

Haruki watched them disappear into the street crowd.

Tomorrow.

Everything would change.

He turned and began walking back toward his apartment.

But before he reached the corner—

DING

Another system notification appeared.

Haruki stopped walking.

His expression remained calm.

But his thoughts sharpened.

"Survive proximity?"

That meant one thing.

Tomorrow…

He might get closer to Gin than expected.

Haruki slowly looked toward the distant Tokyo skyline.

His lips curved slightly.

Not a smile.

Just anticipation.

"This world is going to be interesting."
