Upon seeing Momma Bewear, Tomo happily climbed onto her back to relax. After Momma Bewear finished chatting with Delia, Tomo went over to Lara and Cassandra.
Lara looked at the perfectly comfortable Tomo with some exasperation. "Ahem... we aren't kids anymore, you know."
"It's fine, it's fine! Momma Bewear doesn't mind!"
While Tomo and the others chatted, the rest of the group did the same. Cynthia, Elesa, and Diantha were discussing the myths surrounding Arceus, even though Arceus was literally right next to them. Violet, Rin, Suzie, and Misty were recounting the funny story of how Koga had suffered from insomnia for nearly a month after receiving the Toxic Orb.
The most bewildered person of all, however, was the newly arrived Serena.
Upon realizing that almost every girl invited here—aside from Yellow, who was considered a little sister—was engaged to Ash, Serena's face turned completely red.
Could this mean Ash is going to confess to me? Have I already been defined as his Madam? What do I do?! Should I agree right away?! Should I play hard to get, or just say yes quickly?!
While Serena was lost in her blushing fantasies, Green patted her shoulder. "Lost in a daydream?"
"Ah!"
Being suddenly called out on her thoughts, Serena hurriedly covered her face and denied it. "No! Absolutely not! I have no idea you were going to propose!" It seemed she was so flustered she was speaking pure nonsense.
Seeing Serena acting so amusing, Green's face filled with a teasing smile. "My, my, a maiden in love is truly a sight. But if it's Ash, you might be disappointed."
"Huh? Why?"
Hearing Green say this, Serena forgot her embarrassment. She didn't understand what Green meant, making her nervous. Had she overthought things?
However, Green leaned in and whispered with a smile, "Ash doesn't 'propose'. He just goes straight for the 'marriage' part~"
Poof! Serena's face instantly went up in flames!
Green continued, "Sooo~ you better be prepared. The carnivore is about to make his move on you~"
"Make what move?"
Right as Green was speaking, Ash walked over. Seeing him, Serena panicked and stammered, "No, no, no! It's nothing! I didn't know you were going to propose!"
Ash froze for a moment upon hearing her words, then grabbed her hand and said, "So you already knew. In that case, I won't be shy. Let me put this on you."
Saying that, Ash pulled out a small box. Inside was a ring.
"Wait, wait, wait... wait! You even prepared a ring?!"
Serena was genuinely in a state of chaos now. She hadn't expected Ash to actually pull out a ring right after she said that!
Ash looked at her and said, "Come on, did you forget? When I visited you in Kalos before, I asked if you wanted to marry me. Didn't you say 'I do' right then? So I planned to put this ring on you when I started traveling through Kalos. But, as you can see, the chance to take a group photo with Arceus was just too rare, so I had someone pick you up. I didn't expect you to already know, though... geez, the sense of surprise is ruined..."
While complaining, Ash gently slid the ring onto Serena's finger. Serena's brain had completely blue-screened; she just stared blankly as Ash put the ring on her.
She remembered the incident Ash was talking about. It was quite recently. Ash had indeed asked if she wanted to marry him, and because she liked him, she had said yes. But she hadn't expected him to be so literal about it! So she had already been proposed to?! And she had already accepted?!
Watching Ash put the ring on the completely frozen Serena, Green asked with a sly smile, "Oh my, you prepared quite thoroughly, didn't you? So, where's mine?"
Facing Green's question, Ash replied exasperatedly, "You have the nerve to ask?! Who was it that swiped the ring off me when you were biting me earlier? You're literally wearing it right now and you're asking me?!"
Called out by Ash, Green laughed. "So you noticed right away?"
"Of course I noticed! You little thief, trying to steal from me the very first time we met..."
"Hehehe, this is our special dynamic!"
Green wasn't ashamed of Ash's words; instead, she was quite happy, since it was the start of their complicated bond.
"But speaking of which, why are you out here? I thought you'd be inside helping with the treatment the whole time?"
Hearing Green's question, Ash looked up at the sky in silent despair. "I got kicked out by the Joy family head... She said it's diagnostic time, and the surgeons need to rest up for the massive operation later. Since Lorelei understands Ice types, she stayed inside to help."
"Ahahaha! Even you can get kicked out?! Oh man, I need to laugh at this for a bit!"
Watching Green mock him, Ash shrugged helplessly. What could he do? She was his wife.
Just as Ash was thinking this, Giovanni arrived. But as soon as he stepped out of the car, he didn't even look at Ash; he charged straight toward Green.
Seeing the strange man rushing at her, Green immediately hopped onto Ash. It was a habit she hadn't quite broken yet—after living in that dangerous alternate world for days, feeling a bit paranoid was completely normal. Ash cooperatively caught her in a bridal carry, leaving Giovanni stunned in his tracks.
Green, thinking Giovanni was intimidated by Ash, quickly said, "Hah! Listen here, mister! Even though I'm pretty, don't even think about hitting on me! I have a man! And let me tell you, my man is super strong!"
After her declaration, Green planted a loud kiss on Ash's cheek, leaving Giovanni completely petrified.
Seeing Giovanni's unnatural reaction, Ash was a bit confused, but to prevent any misunderstandings, he quickly explained to Green. "Green, this isn't some creepy guy. This is my godfather. The kind who's formally met my family."
"Oh..." Hearing Ash, Green paused, looking between Ash and Giovanni. "Your godfather? One of us?"
"Yeah."
Seeing Ash nod, Green realized she had misunderstood. But then, Giovanni spoke with deadly calm. "Ash. You remember when I told you I was looking for my daughter, correct?"
"Yeah, you mentioned it. What's wrong?"
"The girl you are holding right now is my biological daughter, Green."
Except for Serena, whose brain was still rebooting, Ash and Green both froze. Ash looked at Green, then at Giovanni. "Are you sure you aren't mistaken?"
"How could I mistake my own flesh and blood? I even destroyed the organization that kidnapped her years ago. Ash, even though we're godfather and godson, I think we need to have a serious talk about you becoming my daughter's man. As men. With our fists!"
Cough!
"Godfather, calm down! We haven't done anything yet!"
