Toxic. This was one of Ash's absolute favorite moves. As the ultimate skill to disgust and wear down enemies, Ash made practically every one of his Pokémon that could learn it, learn it.
Arbok, being Ash's Poison-type Pokémon with the most potent venom, possessed the most terrifying toxin of all. Ash had never imagined a day would come where his Arbok's venom could actually be used against a Legendary Pokémon. Though he didn't know the exact effect yet, upon seeing Ho-Oh's pained expression, Ash knew his plan was a success.
The Masked Man was genuinely surprised to see Ho-Oh actually get poisoned. Because of this, he finally got serious. "Delibird, use Blizzard!"
"Deli!"
The terrifying Blizzard manifested once again from Delibird's attack. But right at that moment, Ash's Mega Charizard X suddenly charged forward, slamming a Fire Punch directly into Delibird. Simultaneously, Mega Beedrill, who had appeared beside Delibird out of nowhere, pierced Delibird with its venom-filled stinger.
"Since when?"
The Masked Man hadn't expected Charizard and Beedrill to suddenly appear and attack his Delibird. Their materialization had been completely without warning.
In truth, Charizard and Beedrill's sudden appearance was entirely thanks to the two Psychic masters, Sabrina and Gardevoir. With the combined psychic power of human and Pokémon, Beedrill and Charizard had been teleported directly next to Delibird. This was exactly why they attacked Delibird—because their target had been Delibird from the very beginning.
Back on Ash's side, Sabrina and Gardevoir both felt slightly dizzy after ending their psychic exertion. Ash was quick on his feet, immediately catching both Sabrina and Gardevoir.
Sabrina looked at Ash and said, "Sorry, this is the best we could do. There's a strange barrier around that Masked Man... Teleporting them just now was our absolute limit."
"Garde..." (Sorry, darling...)
"It's fine, you've done more than enough."
After comforting Sabrina and Gardevoir, Ash looked at the falling Delibird and commanded Nidoking, Nidoqueen, and Aggron beside him, "Dual Precipice Blades! Aggron, Heavy Slam!"
"ROAR!!!"
With three roars, Nidoking and Nidoqueen smashed their fists into the ground together, while Aggron launched a headlong charge.
Huge stone swords erupted from the ground. Delibird took massive damage. Although it was a Ground-type move, Delibird currently had absolutely zero ability to dodge. Therefore, Delibird took the husband-and-wife combo Precipice Blades head-on. And right after eating that devastating attack, Aggron roared, charged forward, and slammed heavily into Delibird.
And so, finished off by Aggron's Heavy Slam, the Masked Man's Delibird—already crippled by poison—was finally utterly defeated.
Up in the sky, the poisoned Ho-Oh wasn't having a good time either. Meowth seized the opportunity to relentlessly attack Ho-Oh with Fury Swipes. As for the fact that Ho-Oh was a Legendary Pokémon? In Meowth's eyes, no matter what you were, as long as the Boss wanted to beat you, he would beat you!
Using the openings created by Meowth's continuous attacks, Arbok relentlessly pumped its venom into Ho-Oh's body, ensuring Ho-Oh would remain severely poisoned.
The most thrilled person to see Arbok successfully poison Ho-Oh was none other than Koga. After all, he had just received a Toxic Orb from Ash earlier. "To actually poison a Legendary Pokémon... what incredibly potent venom."
While Koga was marveling, Ash's Pikachu had already readied himself. Leaping high into the air, Pikachu unleashed his most powerful control skill: Bao Zakeruga!
As a massive lightning dragon formed from Pikachu's electricity, the thunder beast opened its jaws and clamped down viciously onto Ho-Oh. By this time, Meowth and Arbok had already hopped onto Aerodactyl and retreated high into the sky.
"SCREECH!!!"
The terrifying lightning continuously ravaged Ho-Oh's body, but even so, Ho-Oh was still capable of moving. Pikachu knew it was only a matter of time before Ho-Oh broke free from Bao's bite, but his mission was already accomplished. Now, it was time for the others to put on a show.
"Now! Go, my vicious hounds! Bite that god to pieces!"
The time Pikachu bought was enough. More than enough. Absol, Houndoom, and Mightyena were already prepared. They had once again transformed into their Hellhound states, their eyes locked dead onto Ho-Oh in the sky. And Ash finally spoke the words they had been waiting for.
"Cerberus Trio Evolution: The Sky-Swallowing Giant Wolf, Fenrir!"
"Awooooo!!!"
Accompanied by a wolf howl that seemed to echo from antiquity, the three hellhounds transformed into black aura and fused together. They then materialized into a titanic wolf. Upon seeing Ho-Oh in the sky, a savage, violent light flashed in the energy wolf's eyes. Then, it finally bared its fangs.
"ROAR!!!"
As Mega Absol, Mega Houndoom, and Mightyena leapt into the air together, the black giant wolf phantom leapt with them, lunging straight at Ho-Oh.
CRUNCH!BOOM!!!
Accompanied by the god-slaying giant wolf sinking its teeth into Ho-Oh, a massive explosion erupted in the sky. Meanwhile, a series of ice walls materialized in front of the Masked Man. Then, a Swinub slowly crawled out from under his cloak, staring at Ash and his group.
When Ash saw that Swinub, he couldn't help but freeze. That Swinub gave Ash an unprecedented feeling of danger. It wasn't a joke. It was genuine, raw danger—a sense of peril so overwhelming that Ash didn't even pay attention to Ho-Oh anymore.
"Zigzagoon, keep your eyes glued to that Swinub."
Ash was more serious than he had ever been. Zigzagoon obediently hopped onto Ash's shoulder, locking its gaze on the Swinub.
Apart from the Masked Man, Sabrina, and Green, no one else noticed Ash's tension. Because they had just witnessed a scene that defied all description.
God-Slaying. That's right, God-Slaying. Ho-Oh had been defeated. Under the attack known as Fenrir, it had been utterly vanquished.
Watching Ho-Oh plummet from the sky, everyone was left speechless. They realized that the man calling himself Sebastian had actually done it. He used Darkness to slay a god; he proved the sheer might of Dark-type Pokémon. Even though this god-slaying was paved by the groundwork of countless other Pokémon, they had still truly done it. At this point, people were no longer just surprised; they were so profoundly shocked they had lost the ability to speak.
At the same time, they finally began to reflect: is Darkness truly evil? They couldn't say. Because right now, they suddenly realized they didn't understand Dark-type Pokémon at all. A Houndoom that could charge forward without hesitation to block Sacred Fire for Sebastian in a critical moment... was a Pokémon like that really as terrifying as everyone believed?
