"Ahem, ahem!"
The referee cleared his throat forcefully and glared fiercely at Makino Juro.
Juro immediately responded with an innocent expression that clearly said, I didn't do anything.
He shrugged and casually slipped back beyond the three-point line.
The game resumed.
Shohoku had possession.
Makino Juro calmly dribbled outside the arc, facing Minami Tsuyoshi.
Minami lowered his center of gravity.
A vicious glint flashed through his eyes.
This kid is far too arrogant.
I'm going to make sure he leaves the court lying down today!
Once he made up his mind, every muscle in Minami's body tensed.
Bounce.
Bounce.
Makino Juro began dribbling.
The basketball transformed into a blur beneath his legs.
The next second, he suddenly pushed off with tremendous force.
Like a cheetah pouncing on its prey, he forcefully drove to the right!
Minami immediately slid across to cut him off.
At the same time, he subtly extended his right foot forward.
It was an extremely dirty tripping trap.
And that was not all.
His left elbow was also raised discreetly, like a sharp blade aimed directly at Juro's vulnerable ribs!
This combination was vicious beyond words.
An ordinary person would be completely crippled after taking even one of those attacks.
However, Makino Juro not only failed to dodge.
He actually laughed.
You want to play dirty with me?
Instead of retreating, he accelerated.
Then he slammed straight into Minami!
Just as the two were about to collide, Juro's body twisted at an extremely strange angle, moving like a fish gliding through water.
Tai Chi, Redirecting Force!
Minami felt as though his elbow had struck a mass of empty cotton.
All the force he had built up was completely dispersed.
Before he could react, Makino Juro's shoulder suddenly sank.
The blood and energy throughout his body surged violently.
Killing Move!
Iron Mountain Lean!
An utterly terrifying burst of power erupted from Makino Juro's shoulder and back like a volcano exploding!
BOOM!!
An explosive impact rang out, ten times louder than the sound of Miyagi crashing into the wall earlier!
Minami felt as though he had been hit head-on by a speeding dump truck.
His sternum seemed ready to split apart.
Both his feet left the ground.
His entire body was sent flying backward uncontrollably, tracing a miserable arc through the air.
He flew more than three meters!
Thud!
Minami slammed heavily onto the floor.
His body even slid another half-meter across the polished hardwood.
The entire arena fell silent.
Everyone was completely dumbfounded.
They had even forgotten to breathe.
The referee was horrified.
He hurriedly stuffed the whistle into his mouth, preparing to call Makino Juro for charging.
But before he could take a full breath, Juro suddenly let out a miserable scream.
"AAAHHH!"
Makino Juro clutched his chest and staggered backward twice.
Then he pointed at Minami, who was lying on the floor and questioning everything about his life.
His face was filled with grievance as he shouted.
"Referee! He's acting!"
"Trying to draw a foul! This is pure flopping!"
"He flew that far! What do you take me for, a Kamen Rider?!"
"He deserves an Oscar! Someone give this man a little golden statue!"
Juro loudly accused Minami of faking the fall.
The referee froze in place.
The whistle in his mouth never made a sound.
He looked at Makino Juro's utterly innocent face.
Then he looked at Minami, who was lying more than three meters away like a beaten stray dog.
That distance really was absurd.
How could a high school student possibly send someone flying that far?
Even Newton's coffin could barely contain itself!
This was absolutely an exaggerated flop!
The referee quickly reached his conclusion.
He immediately ran over to Minami and made an extremely stern warning gesture.
"Watch your movements!"
"Don't try to deceive the referee and fish for fouls on my court!"
The Toyotama players became furious the moment they saw what was happening.
All of them rushed over in a great wave.
"You're blind, referee!" Kishimoto roared angrily.
"You didn't see him attack someone?!"
Itakura also joined in, shouting furiously.
"What do you mean?!"
"He faked the fall, and now he's still being treated like the victim?!"
The Shohoku players immediately surged forward as well.
The situation instantly spiraled out of control.
It looked as though the game was about to turn into a full-scale brawl.
Outside the chaotic crowd, however, Makino Juro watched coldly like an outsider.
He casually rubbed his shoulder and wandered over to the furious Kishimoto.
His tone was filled with utter contempt.
"That's it?"
"You can't handle even this?"
He looked down at the Toyotama players around him.
A demonic smile curled across his lips.
"Everyone, this is only the beginning."
…
WHEEET!
The head referee blew his whistle forcefully.
The sharp sound cut through the uproar of the Hiroshima Sports Arena.
The first half officially ended.
The red numbers on the scoreboard were especially glaring.
Shohoku 47 — Toyotama 36.
The point difference remained firmly in the double digits.
Whispers broke out throughout the stands.
Toyotama's supporters wildly waved their inflatable cheering sticks while loudly cursing the Shohoku players.
Harsh insults filled the entire arena.
The Shohoku players formed a line and walked toward the players' tunnel with expressionless faces.
Makino Juro walked at the very back.
He casually grabbed a white towel and draped it around his neck.
The towel covered most of his shoulders.
His eyes were as cold as frozen ice.
Ahead of them, the Toyotama players were also heading toward the tunnel.
The two teams unexpectedly met at the narrow entrance.
Kishimoto Minori deliberately slowed his steps.
Then he turned around and glared viciously at Miyagi Ryota.
"Shorty, I'll make you crawl out of here in the second half."
Miyagi stopped walking.
His gaze met Kishimoto's without the slightest hint of retreat.
"Try it."
Miyagi's voice turned cold.
"I'll shake your ankles until they snap."
Kishimoto was so furious that he laughed.
He suddenly stepped forward.
His tall body pressed directly toward Miyagi.
"You're asking to die!"
Just as he raised his fist, a hand firmly seized his wrist.
The hand did not look particularly thick or powerful.
Yet it remained completely unmoving, like an iron clamp.
Kishimoto froze.
Then he turned and met Makino Juro's bottomless eyes.
"Want to fight?" Makino Juro asked softly. "There's no need for that."
Every word, however, carried a bone-chilling coldness.
"I don't mind sending you to the orthopedic ward right now."
Makino Juro suddenly tightened his fingers.
Kishimoto immediately let out a miserable scream.
He felt as though the bones in his wrist were about to be crushed.
"Let go!"
Kishimoto's forehead was instantly covered in cold sweat from the pain.
The other Toyotama players immediately surrounded them.
"What are you trying to do?!" Itakura Daijiro shouted.
Akagi Takenori stepped in front of Makino Juro like an iron tower and roared.
"All of you, back off!"
The atmosphere inside the tunnel dropped to freezing point.
Both sides were on the verge of fighting.
Several security guards hurried over and shouted warnings.
"Separate! Everyone, separate!"
Makino Juro let out a mocking laugh and casually released Kishimoto's wrist.
Kishimoto stumbled backward two steps before crashing awkwardly into the wall.
"In the second half, you'll experience true hell."
Juro dropped the words and walked into the locker room without looking back.
In the stands, the Hainan team's section had fallen completely silent.
Coach Takato's folding fan had stopped moving.
He stared fixedly at the tunnel where Makino Juro had disappeared.
"That elbow from Minami certainly managed to anger that monster."
Coach Takato's voice was heavy.
Maki Shinichi stood with his arms folded across his chest, his brows tightly furrowed.
The scene from earlier kept replaying in his mind.
The way Makino Juro had sent Minami flying was simply too strange.
Maki suddenly spoke.
"Was that… martial arts?"
