Chapter 4 - Deceit

 "A pastor?" She asked.

"Rune, an intercessor. It'll take just one man to stand in the gap for you to survive. Either a watcher or an armour bearer. Did you have any friends like that?" Ethan asked.

"I barely had any friends. I didn't have any at all, I just had a little around me. Not friends, just a few associates."

"Well at least you are not at the heaven of regrets. That's way too sad."

She remembered a sermon with that topic. She held herself way too high for a sermon to even pass her ears.

Ethan snapped her out of her mind trance. "Hey, we are here."

"Ethan? How did you get here? How did you earn this house and this cars here in hell?"

Ethan smiled and said, "You see Rune, unlike you. I had a reason to do what I did. A reason to let my soul go, a reason to baptize myself in human blood and virgin breast, a reason to eat flesh and to consume liquor. I was born into it. So I lived in it. You had more options compared to me."

Rune could feel the ounce of pain he felt come out of his mouth. "I'm sorry Ethan. I didn't mean for you to bring all of that up."

Ethan smiled, "Rune, the surprising thing is I'm still in my coma myself. My case had a bullet stuck in my chest, they don't know that."

"Wait, you have just that? Then you have your way back there too."

Ethan opened the door saying, "Rune no. It's been a whole month and a year since that happened. I noticed they kept my body at the laboratory for experiments now. I'm a science lab rat to them."

"Science lab rat? Where is it?"

He turned to her, "You know your faith moves me a little. It makes me believe there's a chance, just a slight means of a possible escape route out of here."

"Answer me, where is it?" She insisted.

"Well it's frozen in ice at the laboratory test unit or section. Different people, students and all always come around to take a glance of my body to know what a man looks like. Who would want to go back to that?"

"Ethan you would. Don't you miss it there?"

Ethan said, "No. Nothing is worth being missed there." He sounded more serious this time, so she stopped talking.

He opened the door leading to the room. She smiled at his approach to be a gentle man, "Ethan I'm sorry for bringing back the memories."

He exhaled, "No, it's not your fault. I had nothing left there, the only left was the calling I had. You know to ministry."

"Oh to be a pastor." She said.

He replied, "No to be a prophet."

She was puzzled. "A prophet? That's a strong one."

"Well, what happened to you? I'm sure you had a calling, maybe the calling of the intercessor." He said.

She thought back to the moment someone told her to join the work force and she said no. "Yeah, maybe."

He threw the clothes to the side, "Rune you are staying here with me. Get some rest, you can shower there if you want."

She sat on the bed, "Maybe tomorrow."

He pulled her away from the bed, "Miss you just got back from the dead. You should be friends with the soap and fresh water right now."

She laughed, "Ethan don't be silly. It's just three days. What's wrong?"

"Oh wait, do you go farther than that? No wonder you got yourself in hell. Just imagine." He said.

"Ethan, what are you? I'm being serious this time. Besides being the gatekeeper and all that. What do you have to teach me and how can you get me out of here?" She asked.

"Rune. I'm your guardian here. And as for that, you'll have to learn about the books before you try to attempt anything."

He smiled calmly, he walked out of the room.

She walked straight to the bathroom, she poured the water into the bowl. She turned the shower on, she let the water touch every ounce of her skin. She felt the burn escape through her pores.

She looked into the mirror, she looked the same. She had her crystal necklace resting on her chest, she took it off. She felt like it wasn't too late to repent.

Rune walked out to the room, she noticed the new set of night wear on the bed. She wore them, she also still on the bed thinking of the last life she had.

Ethan walked into the room, "Rune, we need to talk. It's about the options. I forgot to mention, you can actually come back as a reincarantion if you want."

She sat up, "Ethan I want to come back as me. I want to come back as the same person with the same purpose, at the same timeline. That's all."

"Rune, it's your choice. This is the end of the first day already. You have two more days to find your way back."

Shocked at his words, she asked. "Me? Aren't you helping me? You know this place more than I do. What is the way?"

He exhaled, "You'll have to go through the gates of hell. You'll have to properly pass through the princes of hell then you'll get a seal from the devil and afterwards you'll wait for the spiritual courts to get into session. After that you'll wait for the courts conclusion then you'll proceed to becoming either a reincarnation or a resurrected."

"If that's the way, then I guess I'll have to give it a try. I can't say no now." Rune said.

"Yes you can, you can by allowing an intercessor just pray over your body. The sacrifice is worth it." He uttered.

"Court cases? What do you mean? Hell and court cases? What do they have in common?" Rune asked.

"Clearly there's a lot you need to know. Buckle up."
