She was speechless. She had no words to describe what she felt, "Rune we have a lot to talk about. Let's go home together first and then we'll find more out."
She had no other option than to believe him of course.
They walked out of the building till they reached a black car, he opened the door for her. She sat in it, he drove them off till they reached a diner.
Apparently, she had a lot of questions and tried her possible best to contain herself till after dinner.
After she ate a while, she asked, "What are we? I mean our titles and why did I come back after three days?"
"I am eating, young lady. Eating. What is wrong? You need to calm down a little before you run me off." He gulped down his drink before he replied again, "We are gatekeepers."
She asked, "What's a gate keeper? A watcher kinda?"
"You see I knew you were gonna get curious about it. Okay, wait let me get things through to you better." He put his hands in a bag, he brought out a book, two books.
He moved the plates to the side and opened the books. "Look here, read it and know it."
She replied, "Ethan could your explain things to me without me reading a freaking book?"
He paused and said, "Rune, this is the book of gatekeepers and watchers. It is strictly for gatekeepers, it can only be wielded by a gatekeeper or watcher. You are both, just like me."
"What's the job about? What do we do?" She asked.
He poured a little honey on his chicken, he said, "We guard, we wield and we protect. We are portals to other realms. We are gates."
Her eyebrows furrowed. "Gates? What gates?"
Ethan said, "The astral gates, the bloodline gates, the gates of hell."
She sat back, resting her back on the chair again. "Ethan, I'm a Christian at least and what you just said is way more than contrary to my beliefs." Even though she barely practiced, she boasted.
"Contrary is not a safe term in the aspects of the spiritual. Contrary is used in terms of warfare, courtfare and more. In matters of opposition of power. In this case we are not opposing the religions."
"What are you doing then?" She asked.
"I'm trying to explain to you that both the light and the dark work hand in hand to accomplish the destiny of a man. I'm saying that spirituality is not religion."
She stopped for a moment to think, "Wait, Ethan you are confusing me. If I'm a gatekeeper or watcher, what gave me the right?"
He answered, "Some say it's Jesus Christ, some say it's the Holy Spirit and for others, they say from the depths of hell itself."
"Why is hell mentioned here? This is just out of proportion now. I need insights, do you have another book on this?"
"Yes I do. They are hidden in the car. I think we need to leave now. It's already getting late, we need to get to my house as soon as possible."
"Okay, I'll wait." She drank her glass of juice down to the bottom, he got up on his feet.
He attempted to walk away but he stopped in his tracks, he turned back to her, "Oh and Rune? You should ignore the voices you hear around your head and in your head until I get back. They can be tricky."
She wondered again, what voices. Before he got to the counter, the voices started speaking to her quietly. They were multiple and divided, some were quiet, angry, happy.
She managed to stay calm trying to avoid a reply escaping her mouth. Ethan watched her struggle deeply as he tried to make payments for their food.
He returned back to the seat, he helped her stand up on her feet. "Come on, we need to leave now."
"Okay." They walked out of the diner calmly, She asked, "Ethan? Where are we? What realm? Is this a dream?"
"First of all we are not anywhere near a dream. Okay? Secondly, this is not a realm, at least fully."
"If it's not a dream or a realm, then it's either heaven or hell. So which is it?"
"Hell." Ethan replied.
She didn't understand that word. She walked till they reached the car in silence.
She sat calmly, he asked, "Are you surprised? This is hell. And no it's not what you expected it to be right? Exactly. It's not what they told us it would be."
"Ethan you don't get it. It's not about that, my question is how? How did I get here after the crash? I know I lived but if I didn't live then I died. If I did die then this means I in coma, and if I'm in coma then I have a chance to get back to earth. How do I do it?"
Ethan asked, "Rune, it's you I need to ask. How did you get here? As a matter of fact, the proper question is what intentions did you have in your heart before you got here?"
Her mind traced itself back. She remembered she wanted to commit suicide earlier, the energy of the heart matters. She said, "But Ethan, I was a Christian."
He said, "Rune, you were a witch. You had witchcraft tendencies, you practised coven magic, blood magic, rune magic, you even used your period blood to lure demons to do your bidding. You used the elements of the earth to manifest most of your daily achievements. You forgot about your Bible and it's words. You were a Christian by title and not by heart."
Rune replied, "Ethan I had no tattoos or piercings on my body. I didn't drink or have sex with multiple people."
"Rune you drew witchcraft symbols on your body periodically. You barely prayed, did you even pray? You lived the life of a layman, and this is the first part of hell. I'll take you to your new home here in three days."
Rune asked, "You are saying I have three days? Three days left to do what? I can go back?"
He parked the car by the road side, "Rune, you have three days to redeem yourself before the people on earth give you their final goodbye. You are currently on oxygen at the hospital, in a coma. You have a chance to get back but the road is not easy at all."
"What road can I take? Ethan show me the way." She asked.
He turned to her, he bit his lower lip. "Rune you have two options. You'll have to meet with either the devil of one of the princes of hell first, or someone from your family, friends or hospital circle could pray and fast for you to get back. Someone with some sort of spiritual authority."
She held her wishes in her chest.
