Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Choice of Blood and Memory

The days before the full moon felt heavy, as if time itself was slowing down. Chandrapur was quiet—too quiet. No laughter. No evening gossip. Only waiting.

Rupa sat with the diary open, staring at the words that refused to change.

Sajib spoke softly.

"If it was born from guilt… then it feeds on it."

Rupa looked up. "And guilt comes from forgetting."

That night, the shadow appeared again—but not as an attack.

It stood at the edge of the village, watching.

When Rupa stepped closer, her legs trembled, but she did not stop.

The shadow whispered, clearer than ever—

"Remember them… or replace them."

Rupa understood.

Either the village would accept the truth—fully, painfully—or new names would be taken to keep the past buried.

The diary wrote one final warning:

"The full moon demands a choice."

Rupa closed the book.

"We won't sacrifice anyone," she said firmly.

"We'll remember everyone."

But memory, she knew, would hurt more than fear.
