Chapter 13 - A Pretty Thing, Moving Things

P.E class was really fun. Basically, this class could be considered a free period, since the PE teacher was always a chill person. We only played dodgeball once, and then the class had free time for a few minutes until the bell rang for the next subject.

The girls gathered in their usual circles of friends, while some of the boys played basketball, and others changed back into their uniforms right away.

"Kai, wanna join us for basketball?"

"Oh, okay. Which team am I on?"

Kai's classmate, a boy named Kevin. He was around 6'1" and had a very athletic build for a first-year high school student. He was quite popular in class and among the girls because he was a rising star on the school's basketball club. Of course, he also had a good personality. Even so, Kevin remained number two in the class, because the figure "Kai" was the top-ranked student in their year.

Kai then played basketball for a few minutes, and his team ended up losing to Kevin's team. That was only natural. Aside from Kevin being a member of the school's basketball club, the soul inhabiting "Kai" wasn't someone used to playing basketball. "Ryan" was from the UK, so the sport he often played was football, not basketball. However, for "Ryan," Kai's body was truly amazing. "Kai" was basically born cheating with that \decent' face, a sharp mind, and a fairly athletic body.

"Looks like I won."

"Yeah, no sh*t…"

"You know… I feel like you've changed a bit."

Kai gave Kevin a small smile. He didn't know what his classmate was talking about. Maybe it referred to his behavior. Who knows. Kai didn't think too much about it, because for him, he was himself, "Kai" or "Ryan" already the same person.

"Hmm? Why do you say that?"

"You know, when you first came in, you had this aura that was… how should I put it… 'unreachable,' like you were in a different world."

"Unreachable?" Kai said, raising an eyebrow slightly. Kevin's words made him put on a fake surprised expression. Basically, Kai did that to appear natural and position himself as an observer. "You mean, I looked like an arrogant person?"

"Hahaha, maybe, your face really looked arrogant, you know, like 'Gatsby'."

"Gatsby? You mean 'The Great Gatsby'?"

"Uh-huh. Your old self was like that. I mean, the persona you gave off radiated that kind vibe."

Kai was genuinely surprised by Kevin's words. What surprised him was that a boy who could be classified as a "jock" also knew classic literary works. Apparently, his brain wasn't empty, only thinking about dribbling or how to score three-pointers in basketball.

So the "Kai" before I took over looked like a narcissistic, love-struck guy… well, it's not wrong that he was lovesick over his own little sister.

Thinking about that gave Kai slight goosebumps. Cringe was what he felt. This guy (himself) really tried too hard to be edgy. No wonder Mimi and several people in the eroge game community really, really, really liked the figure "Kai", speaking about her, he remembering Mimi's room sure always filled with posters and Kai merchandise.

Now that he himself was 'Kai' was truly ironic.

"Hmm, so I was like Gatsby, huh…"

"Hahaha, that's just an analogy." Kevin patted Kai's back quite hard, making the sound echo a little in the school gymnasium. "But honestly, I think I like your current vibe more. More relaxed and easier to approach. Want to have lunch together later with my friends?"

"Sure, if it's not a bother."

"Of course not. The more, the merrier after all."

Kevin laughed out loud, and the two of them headed to the locker room with the other boys in their class. A quick shower to get rid of sweat as usual after PE class. The boys' locker room was always chaotic. However, Kai quickly changed back into his uniform and left, walking down the school hallway with Kevin and their classmates to return to their classroom.

Going up the stairs, Kai passed by students from class 10-C who were heading down for their PE lesson. Among the group of about 18 students, he naturally saw Chloe, still with the girls who were basically leeches. Yeah, it seemed her words about willingly being a host for those leech bitches were true.

Kai and Chloe's eyes met before Chloe greeted him and skipped on her feet to approach him. Both Kai's friends and Chloe were quite surprised, remembering that yesterday after school they also walked together.

"Kai, can I have a moment of your time? It won't be long."

Chloe then turned around briefly to look at her friends, telling them to go ahead because she had a little business with this boy.

Kai also told Kevin that he had a small matter with Chloe, and of course Kevin and some of the boys in class whistled to tease Kai before they left for the classroom.

Kai and Chloe then went to a slightly quiet hallway near the cafeteria, beside the vending machine. Chloe inserted a few penny coins and bought two cold cola drinks, handing one to Kai before drinking hers.

"So… what did you want to talk about?"

"Gulp… ahh~ it's hit the spot~" Chloe said, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. She leaned against the wall and swayed the can in her hand. "Yesterday I contacted my part-time job boss about my friend wanting to work, and he said to submit the application letter next Monday. So this Monday, you're coming with me."

"Ohh." Kai opened his drink can and took a sip for a moment before leaning back as well, following Chloe's lead. "Yeah, no problem. Is that all you wanted to say?"

"Umm, actually there's something else, about the student council you mentioned yesterday…"

"I still haven't told Mrs. Maryn in the teachers' office. Maybe I'll tell her this Thursday. She's still busy right now."

"Hmm… I see. Are there any other candidates applying besides you?"

Kai thought back to fragments from his previous life's memories. The game started when the male lead, Ren, first entered this school. That was in the second academic year, and "Kai" was already chairman with his vice chair "Iris."

But now he wanted to register with Chloe as his vice. This no longer followed the original storyline. Besides, ever since he fixed his relationship with Risa, he had already messed up a lot which meant there was a possibility he could lose. but again, he probably wouldn't lose the vote, because he had another guarantee: Chloe.

"Umm… I don't think there are any. Even if there were, I'd definitely become the chairman because I have you."

"You have me, huh~"

Kai noticed Chloe's face, that face is slightly red on her cheeks and nose. Don't tell him this girl was blushing just from a simple statement like that.

"Hey, you two. It's still class time, why are you both here?"

A soft voice startled Kai and Chloe. The voice came from the cafeteria lady. A young woman with braids twintail and round glasses that were really cute.

"Ahh… Big Sis Reva. We were just chatting for a bit."

Reva chuckled, seeing the boy who yesterday said he had no friends now chatting with a pretty girl.

"You know, yesterday you said you had no friends, Kai. But look at you now, tsk tsk tsk… your girlfriend?"

"No. She's… my mutual friend?"

"Mutual friend? Oh, your FWB," Reva said teasingly, prompting Kai to confirm her words.

"No, dummy. I'm still a virgin. My cherry still hasn't been popped… yet."

Reva laughed out loud, hearing Kai's casual remark. Chloe just looked back and forth between Kai and this cafeteria lady. She was quite surprised that Kai was fairly close to one of the cafeteria staff at their school.

Feeling watched by Chloe, Reva bent down to get closer to Chloe's face, making Chloe pull her face back slightly.

"Hmm~ you're very pretty. Why would you want to be friends with such a… boring boy like him?"

"Mmm… I don't know. But I don't think he's bad…" Chloe answered Reva's question a bit awkwardly.

Reva pulled her face away from Chloe's, giving her some space. "You know Kai is a siscon. He really loves his own little sister~"

"In a family way," Kai interjected so Chloe wouldn't misunderstand this woman's words. He elbowed Reva waist softly so she wouldn't say anything weird again. "Anyway, I guess we should head back, right Chloe?"

"Uhm… Yeah, I think my P.E class is about to start too."

Reva pouted a little while reaching into her apron pocket, and she took something she held in her palm.

"These are for you, Kai, and one more for Chloe~"

Flower brooches again? A Kalanchoe flower?

Kai received the brooch Reva gave him. He didn't understand why this woman always gave out pins. Well, he didn't always refuse. He already had two flower shoe pins and one shoe pin.

The first shoe pin he got when he was with Risa. If he remembered correctly, it was a chrysanthemum flower. And now this was a Kalanchoe flower. Strange.

"Alright, I'm going ahead. You two get back to class quickly." Reva then left Kai and Chloe, who were still holding the brooches she had given them.

"I didn't know you were so close to that cafeteria lady."

"Yeah… I didn't expect it either." Kai put the pin in his pocket. "Well, I'm heading off then."

"Umm, yeah. Bye~ We'll talk later during break or after school."

The two of them parted ways in the hallway. Kai continued up the stairs to his classroom, where Kevin and the other boys would probably ask if he was dating Chloe or not.

However, among all that, one thing he was thinking besides his current focus on the plan to register as student council chairman was who exactly Reva was.

A reincarnated person like him? Or was it just a coincidence that she always appeared at the right place and right time? He don't know but She is not ill person for now.
