Chapter 15 - Even In Love, There are Sad Flavors

⌈Better mind your own business⌋

⌈This is a personal matter⌋

⌈Who are you, you're a stranger⌋

All those words are always uttered by people who have problems, whether it's problems with themselves or problems they cause to others. Sometimes people forget one thing.

All of us, humans, have a limit of tolerance. If that limit is exceeded, it will surely mess up the mind and only one feeling will emerge as a result hate will come exchanging the feelings of love we have before.

Kai watched Daisy being pulled around rather roughly by Caleb. Honestly, the sight made him a bit disgusted. How could there be a guy like that, possessive and a little insane to begin with.

The feeling that had grown since they were kids was truly unhealthy because it had turned into a wild fantasy as if all rational things were simply ignored.

"Chloe... I have a request. I'll repay you later."

The plan shifted a bit. Kai, who initially thought he'd handle "Daisy" later after securing a good relationship with Chloe, might have to start one step earlier to "befriend" Daisy.

Looking at Chloe who looked a bit confused by his out-of-the-blue words, Kai reached for Chloe's hand and brought his face close to hers, which made Chloe's breath hitch. A red blush began spreading across her cheeks.

"E-ehh... w-what?"

"I want to ask for a favor this time, and I'll repay you."

"T-too close... can you move your face back... please..."

Kai raised an eyebrow after realizing he was too close. Casually and taking his bearing with a little cough, he pulled his face back. Chloe let out a sigh of relief while making a fanning gesture on her face, trying to return the reddened skin on her cheeks back to normal.

"Ahem... Can I ask for a favor." Kai said, glancing again toward Daisy and Caleb before he looked into Chloe's eyes. "Can you help that girl?"

Chloe was a bit surprised by Kai's request. Helping a girl she didn't even know, and why did Kai look as if he wanted to help that girl. Dozens of questions quickly entered Chloe's mind. But there was one important thing Chloe thought about.

She didn't like Kai like this.

Chloe blushed again. They were just friends, no way she could be jealous. Moreover, they had only been friends for two days. Come on, Chloe... do you like Kai?

"Chloe? Hey, are you listening?"

"Ah, yes yes I'm listening?!" Chloe shook her head while slapping her cheeks, trying to get rid of her strange thoughts. "But I don't know that girl, and besides, why are you asking me for help for that girl? Do you know that... girl?"

"Don't know her actually."

"Then why are you asking me to help that girl if you even don't know her... just leave it alone, right? Besides, it's none of our business and it's rude to suddenly barge into other people's affairs."

Kai sighed. He thought about how to get Chloe be agree to his request to help Daisy without making himself look suspicious, even though his answer to Chloe about not knowing Daisy did raise a little suspicion that was worth asking about.

"You know, isn't it a little pitiful seeing that girl looking so distressed?"

Chloe looked at the commotion still going on. Seeing Chloe, Kai hoped she would step in.

"Okay, okay, I'll help." Chloe grinned at Kai before she leaned close to the side of his head, whispering to his ear, "But this isn't for free."

"Yeah, I know. I always keep my word."

Chloe stepped back from Kai and walked toward the two childhood friends who were bickering—more precisely, one person bickering and the other like a victim. Chloe approached them and grabbed Daisy's hand. She looped Daisy's arm with hers, while using a chopping motion with her right hand to slice off the grip that was holding Daisy.

"Hey, I've been waiting for you, you know."

"E-eh?!"

Kai, watching that, covered his face and bit his lower lip trying to hold back laughter. He didn't expect that silly girl would just jump right in. He completely forgot that Chloe was that kind of person. In his mind, Kai thought Chloe would just yank or raise her voice to make Caleb realize his actions were being seen by many other students.

Silly girl. Don't just barge in like that, idiot.

Kai lowered his hand from his face to see how this stupid "heroine" would take action to save the other "heroine".

"Who am I? You don't know me?! I'm Chloe Kalani, the prettiest girl in this school!" Chloe said to Caleb, who tried to grab Daisy's hand again but was immediately swatted away by Chloe. "You know, she's not a little kid anymore, so you don't need to walk holding hands and report everything to you. Are you two dating? No, right? So—"

"Then what's your problem." Caleb stopped Chloe's yapping. His facial expression clearly showed that this guy was really pissed off at this wannabe-pretty girl who suddenly barged in uninvited. "Daisy... do you know this girl?"

Daisy looked back and forth between the girl who suddenly showed up and Caleb. Daisy certainly didn't know that girl, and hearing Caleb's question, she was afraid that if she answered "I don't know," Caleb would get even angrier.

Then Daisy felt the girl trace her back with an index finger. C.H.L.O.E, Chloe. She didn't understand what she wrote, but it might be this girl's name. Daisy looked into the girl's eyes, and the girl winked at her. That girl's name was Chloe.

"Umm... she's... Chloe..."

"Yep, that's my name. We're friends, umm..." Chloe looked at Daisy, signaling her to continue the conversation. "HMMM!"

"Ah, yes, Chloe is friend I meet at library a week's ago. Remember the one I, Daisy, once told you about? That I had a childhood friend named Caleb."

"Ah, yes of course I remember. You said that, right, Daisy? Isn't that right, Daisy my bestie?"

Caleb stared sharply at Daisy and Chloe, but quickly Chloe started yapping again as a distraction and pulled Daisy to follow her. Even though Caleb tried to stop her, Chloe certainly couldn't be stopped as she dragged Daisy away with swift motion.

Kai, seeing that Chloe had succeeded in bringing Daisy and was walking toward him, started walking again, keeping a distance of a few meters so as not to look too suspicious.

Meanwhile, Chloe grumbled because Kai was walking quite fast, leaving her and Daisy behind. "Geez, that stupid boy won't wait for me."

"Umm... thank you, Chloe."

"No problem." Chloe let go of Daisy's hand after they were far enough away. Smiling at Daisy, Chloe was very confused as to why Kai suddenly told her to help this cute girl. "Umm... actually it was that guy who told me to help you. Sorry for suddenly barging in between you and your childhood friend... are you sure he won't be angry later?"

"Mmm" Daisy shook her head. "It's okay, Caleb is a good person, it's just that he... well, you saw it earlier."

Daisy looked at the back of the guy who told Chloe to help her, Kai. Of course she knew him. Every student at school certainly knew Kai, the top rank in the semester exams.

"Do you know him, Daisy?"

"Just know of his name... Umm, About Kai... why did he tell you to help me?"

"I don't know... but you two don't know each other, right... because when Kai asked for help... I thought..."

Daisy blushed at Chloe's words. She knew what Chloe meant, for response she shaking her head that made her long brown hair sway. With a slightly panicked tone, she denied the accusation of what Chloe implied.

"Hmm, so not that... meaning it's purely Kai's personal reason."

Chloe spoke softly to herself. Staring at Kai's back as he kept moving, Chloe was curious about what Kai was thinking as they walk.

Oh yeah, I forgot. He said he'd do anything. What should I ask from him as a reward for helping Daisy? Hehe. This time, what should I ask for?
