Adeline's POV
I still could not get his words out of my head.
What did he mean by that?
It made no sense… yet it refused to leave me.
And to make it worse, I had not seen any of the maidens since morning.
I had not gone to the royal dining hall either, so I could not tell if they were even fine. At the very least, I would have asked.
But thanks to that pain in the neck, I could not.
And he still had the audacity to leave me restless.
I had been walking through the hallway for a while now, taking turn after turn, hoping one of them would lead me back to my chamber. But it did not.
I slowed down, looking around me properly this time.
Nothing looked familiar. Then I realized, I had gotten lost.
A groan left me as I ran a hand through my hair in frustration.
The palace was too big. Too confusing. I could not believe, if anyone ask me if I am familiar with the palace I would say yes with pride.
