Adeline's POV
Warm water streamed gently around me as I stood in the pool-like stone tub.
The water should have been calm, but it was not.
I stretched out both my hands as two maids worked on each one of them, their touch gentle as a feather as though I might break if they added any more pressure.
But my mind was far from here.
I still could not fully tell what happened back at the cave.
One moment I was being choked by prince Nathan. I could still feel the tightness of his grip on my neck yesterday.
And the next I was on my bed this morning with absolutely no memory on how I got back.
I had woken up in my bed with absolutely no harm, as though none of it had happened.
The strangest of it all I could not quite get my hands on.
Why did it feel like I saw my mother?
To make everything worse I was in my night gown and not longer in the gown I wore before.
My brows drew together. Something was deeply wrong.
