Something within him stirred… no… snapped.
"Get your filthy hands off her."
The word rang sharp through the air.
The men turned.
Finn jaw set, his eyes burning with a fury scarcely contained as close the distance between them.
"What do you think you are doing?" he demanded, his voice low… yet edged with something far more dangerous.
Kaira lifted her head.Her vision blurred with tears… But she saw him. "Finn… tell them I do not want to leave." she whispered, her voice breaking.
His gaze flickered to her, just for a fleeting moment, taking in the tears upon her cheeks, the dust upon her hands, the way she had been reduced to nothing.
Then it returned to the men. "How dare you?"
One of the men scoffed, unimpressed. "And who might you be?"
Finn did not answer. Instead, he stepped forward and placed himself between Kaira who is still on the floor and the men without hesitation, as though shielding her from them.
