Ariana spent the entire morning cleaning the mansion.
The house was so large that she felt tired after only a few hours. Still, she didn't complain. This job meant she could finally support herself without relying on her father.
While she was cleaning the hallway upstairs, she suddenly heard footsteps behind her.
"Ariana."
The deep voice made her freeze.
She slowly turned around.
Jayden was standing there, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
His sharp blue eyes were staring at her.
"What are you doing here?" he asked coldly.
"I was cleaning," Ariana replied nervously.
Jayden walked closer, studying her carefully.
For some strange reason, something about Ariana felt different to him.
Her scent… her presence… it felt unfamiliar yet strangely calming.
Jayden frowned.
"Why do you smell different?" he suddenly asked.
Ariana blinked in confusion.
"What?"
Jayden shook his head quickly, annoyed with himself.
"Forget it," he muttered.
Just then, another voice echoed from the staircase.
"Well well… what do we have here?"
Both of them turned.
Kayden was standing at the top of the stairs with a playful smile.
"Ariana!" he said happily. "Looks like fate really likes bringing us together."
Ariana looked surprised. "Kayden? What are you doing here?"
Jayden's expression darkened immediately.
"He's my brother," Jayden said coldly.
Kayden walked down the stairs and stood beside Ariana.
"So you're the new maid, huh?" he said teasingly. "That's interesting."
Jayden glared at him.
"Stop bothering her."
Kayden smirked.
"Oh relax, brother. I'm just being friendly."
Then he looked at Ariana again.
"But seriously… something about you feels strange."
Ariana felt nervous under their intense gazes.
Two powerful men staring at her like they were trying to figure out a secret.
Jayden suddenly turned away.
"Stay out of trouble," he said before walking off.
Kayden watched him leave and chuckled.
"Looks like things are going to get interesting," he whispered.
And Ariana had no idea that both brothers were slowly realizing the same thing…
