His racing heartbeat finally began to settle.
Gage turned toward the hospital room behind him.
He had only just returned after another fruitless search across the city. Before leaving, he had entrusted Mr. Lowe to the doctors, making sure the man received proper treatment. The examination had shown nothing life-threatening, only superficial injuries and a minor concussion. Since Gage had been the one who brought him there, he couldn't simply abandon that responsibility.
The entire time he had been back, however, he had been restless, itching to rush out and continue searching for Ashley.
