Chapter 26 - I Killed the Bear

Steel and Sply find me holding the bow in my hand. My eyes rolled to the back of my head, showing white, the only time my eyes would ever match.

My breath slight but there, the left eye bleeding bad.

Apatite was there standing beside me now as her father ran even closer.

Ready to grab me, as I drop the bow and feel myself begin to fall. Before her father can even get there.

Steel doesn't waste a beat he makes his way to my side in an instant, starting from his point to my point it would be impossible to even think that Steel would beat Apatite's father, but Steel did.

With a long blink my eyes turn back to the same place they were in.

"Hey. Hey! Lazuli! Come on my boy, wake up. Don't fall asleep."

Steel softly slaps my face to make me stay awake.

"Stop!"

Apatite gets close to my side.

"He needs rest! He doesn't have any control over Soul Energy and infused his bow with too much, he needs rest."

Steel looks at her, from her ear to her face.

"Who are you?"

She looks to her father, as if asking for permission.

Slowly her father gives a snarling look to Steel, but then he looks at me, my disheveled form, and lets off of the snarl and then, he nods his head.

She turns back to look at me as I'm wide eyed nearly unconscious, then to Steel.

"We're cliques, and we wanted to help…"

She thinks back to what Steel said: My name: Lazuli.

"… we were helping Lazuli kill the Soul Bear for him to learn how to use a bow better."

She points behind her father.

Toward the died giant Soul Bear, with a hole right through the middle of its giant head.

Its body slumped in the ground as blood is spilling out and out the ground in spurts of blood.

"Holy… my son. He did that?"

Steel says his voice filled, with admiration, and a small hint of worry.

Apatite nods.

"He learned how to infuse the Soul Energy into his bow, but I forget to teach him how to limit the power, and he ended up facing the backlash completely."

I cough.

"Hey Steel."

My voice feels strain.

"Steel, please move back, I'm going to try and heal him."

Steel moves away not asking anything, but his face is scared, his hands are on his legs as he sits next to me and Apatite his legs being used as cushions for his body.

"Lazuli. You will have to let me touch you."

I could just faintly hear her say, I nod.

That's when my vision feels blurred completely, my eyes close and darkness takes over.

'I've got a problem with not getting into trouble.'

~~~
I jump into a sitting position, my head spins as I do so.
My bow lays flat on top of me. In the same condition as when I shot the Soul Bear.
The place is unfamiliar, as my body troes its very best to stay up and not to fall right back to the pillowy embrace I was given.
"Where am I?"
My voice breaks through but it sounds muffled yet not.
I turn my head to see a window right next to me, trees blocking my view, not a place I'm familiar with.
"Where am I?"
I ask again.
This time a door opens, in front of me, in the four corners of the wooden room im in, the door opened and a woman, with what looks like anemia comes through, her ears red, like she has a fever, hair blue and I can't see her aura.
I touch my left eye and feel the eye patch just over it.
"We had a bit of a struggle against you, absorbing way more Soul Energy than possible within, a few seconds, it seemed like your heart would explode, luckily it didn't, and you passed out instead."
She smiles at me, as she comes into the room, dressed in a robe. And a blanket over her on top of that.
She coughs as she walks in.
"You were bleeding like crazy. At the time last night my daughter, or better yet, Apatite, as what she may have told you."
She walks closer, vision getting better. She pulls a stool to my side and I follow her movements with my head.
"How do you feel right now Lah-zu-Lee? That's how it is said right?"
I nod.
"Yes. And I'm feeling dizzy. My head hurts as well as my throat."
"Okay, the headaches are normal, you should be fine if I just."
She puts her hand on my head and begins to chant in a language unknown to me.
Slowly her hand gives warmth to my headache and my blurred vision diminishes.
"That should do it."
She smiles at me with her clean white smile.
"Now, if we get to your throat that's because of your need for water. And you should most definitely eat by now."
~~~

I'm in an unfamiliar kitchen as I sit in a wide area, on a square table with only me and this woman across from me as she looks at me eat with a smile.

"My daughter said that you were admirable when you told her about moving so that you could defeat a Soul Bear."

She smiles at me with a sly smile, like I didn't almost just die in that same process.

"I, guess so."

A sound of popping comes from beside us, their kitchen really close to their dining table.

She gets up and walks over to the pan that's being lit on fire by fire Soul Magic that she used.

She grabs a porcelain plate from her cupboard and places it down on the table in front of me, that my face is just barely peering over.

And she drops onto the plate what looks like, scrambled eggs and a thick slab of unidentifiable meat, but regardless it smells amazing.

She leaves putting her pan into a hole beside the stove, that lets all the steam fly off of the pan and she leaves it there.

"That's some of the Soul Bear you kill last night."

She smiles, a cough comes out as she smiles.

"Because though it might be tough."

The smell hits my nose and grabs my tastebuds through my nose.

"Thank you."

I look left and right and look for a utensils and I don't find any.

"Oh yeah, you need forks and spoons."

She then pulls open a cabinet and fishes out a fork and knife, more of a butter knife than a dangerous one.

Dips it into the water beside the stove and swipe it clean. She then gives it to me, shiny with water.

"Thank you again."

For the very second I have the physical strength to do so I cut into the bear meat and then stuff it into my mouth at the same moment of the Eva's and I dig in.

The woman sits across from me again as she watches with a smile.

Then another cough.

As I eat I look around the place and see that the place is like really small, there was only three doors in the place, no second floor only two bedrooms and one bathroom.

We came out of one of the rooms and she immediately sat me down on the chair here.

There's another door behind her, but judging by the way the house is built it's more than likely just the exit.

'I'm feeling like a serial killer trying to plan his escape…'

I look down in disbelief.

Making the woman look at me in disappointment.

"Is it not good?"

I move the food to the sides of my mouth and block it with a fist in front of my face to speak and not get crumbs everywhere.

"No it's good, I was just thinking. Where am I?"

"Oh…"

She coughs.

"You're at my house."

'Someone's not the sharpest tool in the box.'

I swallow my food then clear my throat.

"Sorry, I meant where is your house?"

She chuckles.

"Yeah, that's more of an understandable thing to ask. We're in the Warren Forest, more particularly the outskirts."

"I'm still in Warren Forest?"

I ask as I cut into the bear meat again, pausing to confirm what she has said.

She nods.

"Both my husband and my daughter didn't think that your healer Vic had the capability to give you a full heal, but instead he'd give you a good check up, or he'd give you the okay healing, small fevers, small colds, that's the only thing he can do with his own magic."

She coughed.

"So they brought you to me instead, both Steel and the other one weee in an agreement, but it looked like Steel was an angry mess when it came to the small lady."

She looks at me with her same usual smile.

"How do you know Steel, but not Sply?"

Her smiles shifted from a great big smile to a O mouth in surprise.

"Do you not know who the man raising you really is?"
