Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 — Awakening Powers

By the age of five, Aseel's powers began to manifest fully. It started small—a flicker of flame that danced along his fingertips, a miniature whirl of wind stirring the curtains of his nursery. Water followed his gestures, forming intricate spirals in midair, and the earth beneath his feet shifted subtly as he walked. Even light and shadow responded to his attention, bending slightly to emphasize his every movement.

One afternoon, a sudden storm threatened the village near the Daryon estate. The wind tore at roofs, rain battered the fields, and lightning sparked across the sky. Most children would have cowered; most adults would have scrambled for cover. But Aseel stood calmly on the veranda, hands raised.

He guided the wind to divert the storm clouds, parted rain with streams of water to protect the crops, and reinforced weak buildings with earth barriers. When fire ignited from lightning strikes, he extinguished it instantly, creating a harmless steam that dissipated into the air. Villagers emerged from hiding, mouths agape, whispering, "It is him… the child… the one the legends speak of."

Tutors were summoned, their expressions ranging from astonishment to disbelief. "Impossible," one muttered. "No human, no child, could command so many elements at once."

Aseel, sitting cross-legged in the mud of the fields, did not respond. In his mind, he analyzed every motion, every reaction, every potential improvement. Mastery was not just strength; it was precision, calculation, and understanding.

His small heart pulsed with determination. I will not be betrayed again. I will grow stronger than anyone has ever imagined… and when the time comes, Kingsland will see my power once more.

The storm passed as quietly as it had arrived. Children played in puddles, villagers tended to their farms, and the world seemed calm. But within the eyes of one small boy burned the spark of a king reborn—a spark that would one day engulf the world in both awe and fear.
