Chapter 170 - Chapter 170: The Castle Has Burned

The news shook the entire world. A group of unknown assailants broke into Ray Evans's house and brutally killed everyone inside — even the children were not spared. Because of the family's good reputation, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets, demanding the killers be found.

Upon learning that help hadn't come due to an uprising within the "Devils" ranks, which resulted in many deaths, Yuno rushed to the main headquarters, while Deya seemed to lose herself and remained under Jill's care.

After those events, the girl completely lost herself and started drinking. Any attempts by Frank and Jill to help her were fruitless.

This went on for several months. After she returned home, Rocky, who had been watching his friend sink to the bottom, couldn't bear it anymore. Meeting her at the entrance, he took the bottle from her.

"I know there was a strict ban on alcohol in your family. Do you think your brother would be happy to see you like this?"

"He's dead; it doesn't matter to him anymore. So give me back the bottle."

"Stop burying yourself. I know it hurts, but you have to fight."

Barely finishing his words, Rocky felt pain in his stomach. Looking down, he saw a knife protruding from him.

Ignoring him, Deya calmly took the bottle and left the house.

She went to the cemetery. There was a time when her brother spent nights here — now they were all together, and she was here alone.

Deya was surprised to see that someone had already been at her family's graves.

A girl with long black hair and mismatched eyes stood there. She was smoking, a dog beside her.

"My brother didn't like people smoking in his presence," Deya said. She had never met this girl in person, but she knew who she was.

Looking at the bottle in Deya's hands, the girl smirked and said:

"Then I think he'd spank both of us."

"I didn't think I'd see you here," Deya remarked. "Your brother and I needed to talk a long time ago, but I never found the right words. Even now, I don't have them."

"Little one, I know what you're feeling. You need to find a reason to move forward. I was able to because I promised my sister I'd become a good doctor."

"I love drawing, but not enough to make me move forward after such shocks."

"Look after their graves. I think I'll be locked up soon, and I won't be able to do it for the next few years."

"What did you do?"

"An acquaintance tried to take my bottle, and I stabbed him," the girl explained calmly, taking a sip.

"Little one, you really need help," Violet noted.

"Yeah, but I don't think there's anyone in this world who can help me."

"Brother often talked about you. I know he was proud of you. He had a friend, a bookstore owner. Do you know what happened to him?"

"He found himself a young wife and left a few years ago. I found out he died. They managed to have a child. The old man lived a good life. When I was little, I really loved your brother's voice. Shame he lost it."

Violet began sharing stories from her childhood, hoping it would help her companion pull herself together.

Suddenly, a clearly worried Tyler got out of a car parked nearby. Hugging Deya, he said:

"Jill called me. Rocky is fine; they said they won't press charges, but you need to start treatment and work with psychologists. I'll pay for your treatment, so don't worry."

"Handsome's right; that's what you need."

"An unexpected meeting. Do you still remember Ray telling you that you can't trust handsome men?" Tyler remarked with a smirk.

"Life showed he was right."

Deya hesitated but eventually nodded and added:

"Maybe you're right, and I really do need it."
