"Yuri has been acting strange lately. She used to be head over hills for the student prez, now she's hung up on that new kid"
A male student proclaimed to a classmate of his, observing the girl known as Yuri while she sat with Hakari at one of the lunch tables.
Meanwhile, Yuri stared contently at Hakari while he silently ate his food, ignoring the obvious stares from the students in the cafeteria.
Two days ago...
"Oh. You're finally awake, good. Look at this"
Hakari proclaimed to Yuri who finally opened her eyes, still processing what was going on with a confused expression on her face.
Despite that, she absent-mindedly glanced towards the window Hakai had pointed to, noticing a red-haired boy standing on top of a pile of lifeless bodies.
"...no...it can't be.."
Yuri stammered out in fear but with more confusion, her eyes widened from the familiar individual that stood amongst the lifeless corpses.
"Yeah..that's him."
Hakai proclaimed with a tone of indifference, patiently flipping through his book while waiting for Yuri to process the entire situation.
This took about ten minutes of complete silence while she watched the red haired boy, begin writing sigils with the blood of the corpses in a ritualistic sacrifice.
"W-what is he doing?"
Yuri asked in a low, almost hushed tone barely above a whisper, disbelief still lingering in her mind as she continued to watch the ritual unfold.
"Let me tell you a little story..."
Hakai proclaimed as he closed his book, gently setting it on the table stand near him, then looking directly at Yuri.
A Century Before The Reincarnation...
"This is so boring!! We need some entertainment."
An ancient voice of masculinity proclaimed to a few others seated at a table, surrounded by a vast void of nothing.
"Hmm. I vote that we pick somebody and put them in a loop of torture. Though instead of the same thing, it's different methods every time."
Another voice of ancient femininity proclaimed in a reply to the statement of boredom.
"That's not a bad idea. Hmm, what about this kid?. Hakai Metsu, we'll grant him semi-immortality for the experiment."
The same ancient masculine voice replied to the idea given by his colleague, earning verbal confirmation from the other's that sat at the table.
"Okay! It's decided. Hakai Metsu will be our plaything. Cursed by the gods!"
The Present...
Hakai eventually finished telling the story of his life and how the seven gods cursed his very existence, who simply wanted to be entertained by the suffering he went through.
Yuri remained speechless at the life story told by Hakai, pondering if what he told was the truth.
"So... you're a person that reincarnated from another world. You are an experiment to made by these apostles of chaos with the purpose of killing the seven deities?"
Yuri asked in a summarized recap, disbelief evident in her voice at the claims of another world, though from the serious expression on Hakai face, she knew he was not lying.
"Correct. These seven gods are not as benevolent as many might think. They are cruel, sadistic, sick pieces of shit that will do anything for entertainment. Even if it meant playing with the lives of mortal's."
Hakai confirmed with a tone of hatred that far exceeded human capability. His seething rage was felt in every word he spoke despite his expressionless face.
"Anyway, I believe it's time for me to go stop him. How attached are you to this guy?"
Hakai asked while glancing out the window, observing the red haired boy finishing the preparations for the ritual of sacrifice.
"...I loved him..."
Yuri could only whisper these three words that gave Hakai the information he needed, a silent confirmation to proceed with what he was about to do to the red haired boy.
"Don't worry kid...he would've made you his next sacrifice."
Hakai proclaimed calmly with no sense of sympathy, just the harsh truth of reality that was a bitter pill to swallow.
Then Hakai stood up and guided himself to the window, sliding it open and leaping out with no more words spoken, which shocked Yuri to the point where she attempted to grab him to prevent a death.
"Just watch kid."
Hakai proclaimed loud enough for the red haired boy to hear, making him glance towards the airborne Hakai that leapt from the window.
Sword Art #2 - Dying Starlight
While falling from the high story building, Hakai held his right hand outward in a gripping gesture.
A brilliant light engulfed the area in a quick flash, then dimming in luminosity to reveal a slick katana with red cloth wrapped around the handle.
In mere seconds, Hakai had vanished from his airborne position just to appear directly above the red haired boy.
Though Hakai was undoubtedly fast, the red haired boy managed to evade the downward slash delivered by Hakai, albeit narrowly.
"Quick. But not quick enough"
Hakai proclaimed with a tone of indifference just as the blade of his katana split through the piles of corpses as if it were butter.
Then a thin crimson line materialized on the pile of corpses in a vertical line, indicating the point of impact.
On the other hand, the red haired boy had leapt away a few seconds early to narrowly avoid the slashing attack, landing on the asphalt ground with practiced grace.
Unfortunately for the red haired target, Hakai was already in front of him with the sword swinging forward horizontally.
The sheer speed of the swing and sharpness from the blade generated a subtle wizzing when it sliced through the air, alerting the red haired boy of the critical danger.
War Breaker Art - Aversion Field
At the last second before the blade could tear through the red haired boy throat, the trajectory of the sword had shifted diagonally just as the red haired adversary threw his body backward, narrowly avoiding instant death.
However, the red haired opponent did not account for Hakai's previous slice to the pile of body and could only watch with wide eyes, as the thin crimson line violently exploded and sent the red haired boy reeling backwards.
"Karui Namu. Today mark's your execution."
Hakai proclaimed from the thick cloud of smoke that rose onto the sky, his footsteps deliberately slow as to instill a sense of unease to the apostle.
Though what made the apostle narrow his eyes with weariness, were not the words but the potent mana essence exuding from Hakai.
"It's on par with a B-class Dragon"
Karui proclaimed with astonishment, clearly ignoring the threatening words from Hakai as if he were used to such declarations.
Then just as Hakai stepped from out the rising smoke that slowly faded with the flow of the wind, he propelled himself toward Karui at break neck speed.
This made Karui raise his arms in a guarding gesture due to the lack of weapons, but when Hakai stepped within the striking range and lifted his sword, he vanished in thin air.
This startled Karui and forced him to start guessing where Hakai would appear next, then he suddenly turned around with a swift jab which was met with nothing but air.
Hakai was right behind him.
Karui whipped his body back around with an attempted back fist, but was too late as Hakai had already swung his sword in a diagonal motion, piercing through Karui's right shoulder blade down to his left ribcage.
Blood spewed from Karui mouth as his attempted counterattack fell short, allowing for Hakai to follow through with a kick to the wounded area that sent Karui reeling back once again.
This time Karui could not land on his feet and met the ground with a thud, his body bouncing against the asphalt multiple times from the strength of the kick, before finally skidding to a stop.
"I thought the apostle of war would be stronger-"
Hakari proclaimed with a harsh tone that ridiculed Karui with mocking intent, until his sentence was cut short by a sharp pain around his chest.
Hakai eyes widened in surprise when he realized Karui has recovered far quicker than anticipated, delivering a horizontal slash with a combat knife.
"You only got lucky. Don't get arrogant"
Karui proclaimed with a tone of disdain while flicking the blood from the combat knife onto the ground, a sadistic smile dawning on his face as he observed Hakai stagger backwards.
"You're right. I won't make the same mistake."
Hakai uttered in a whisper while pressing his free hand against his chest, glancing down at his own blood that covered the entirety of his palm.
"Oh?-"
Karui began but was silenced in shock, witnessing Hakai wound rapidly stitch itself back together, generating steam that rose from the gaping cut.
Hakai ocean blue eyes darted forward and stared directly into Karui's own crimson colored eyes. Then before Karui could even register the potent healing, Hakai had appeared directly in front of the student council president while driving the blade straight through his chest.
"You'll see your master one day. I'll personally make sure of it."
Hakai proclaimed with a more cold and harsh tone while ripping the sword from out of Karui's chest, then delivering a horizontal slash to his neck.
[Congratulations. You've successfully defeated 'the apostle of war', you have been granted the title of 'Enemy Of Gods']
A sudden robotic voice rung through Hakai mind, forcing him to clutch his head in pain at the sudden announcement, which could only be heard by him.
His eyes darted around in confusion, attempting to locate the source of the voice until he noticed a holographic blue screen, floating in front of him which read the words he just now heard.
"Enemy of Gods...that has a nice ring to it"
Hakai proclaimed while staring down at the headless body of Karui Namu.
Hakai then turned his attention to the symbolic sigil written in blood on the ground, a subtle frown on replacing his indifferent expression upon recalling his previous life events.
"This is only the beginning. I'll burn this entire universe to the ground with you fuckers in it."
Hakai proclaimed aloud to the deafening silence that consumed the area, feeling droplets of rain begin to fall from the darkened clouds, as if the heavens were beginning to weep at the lost of something precious.
