Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Analysis and more analysis

"No more talking, collect your thoughts, discuss may follow thereafter," the president said.

"It's an A rank dungeon still. I hope they make it out alive, somehow," 'Ridlus thought.'

After 2 hours, the verdict was made.

"Discuss may follow after all 6 captains present drop their assessments," the president said.

"Wow, that was intense. A whole 2 hours. My emotions and heart strings were being tugged in just about every direction," Ridlus said.

"You are required to rank all the hunters on a scale of 1 to 5. Decimals are allowed so go crazy. But not too crazy, Gremmer," the president said.

They all let out a light laugh.

"Ok, pass the papers and let's see what our guilds captains think of the new division before the rest of us take stage."

The president glanced through the papers. His expressions varying as he did so. One time even looking shocked, it seemed some of the assessments were unexpected.

"Ok."

"Here goes."

"Starting with a biased pick. We have Ridlus."

"He thinks Rose performed the worst of the group."

"Nothing noteworthy was displayed."

"Lin, an almost close last."

"Miles did surprise him here and there but never to the point to standing out."

"He originally thought Zeta was going to perform the best but personally he thinks she got outshined by the boys in the later half."

"Porter came in out of nowhere with that final save."

"And Charles. Well Charles, where to even start. His coordination with Miles, then Porter and ending on Michael was brilliant. Short of nothing."

"Michael shined brightest at the end. Without him, Shom would have undoubtedly still been an issue."

"The scores Ridlus gave the division, in the order called were: 1, 1.2, 2, 3.5, 3.8, 4.1, 4.5."

The hall errupted with applaud.

"Well it seems most of those who didn't get to vote agree with Ridlus analysis," 'the president thought.'

"Onto Walker's. He thinks Rose was too sloppy, missing opportunities."

"Lin failed to coordinate with pretty much anyone."

"Miles did standout to him but having Porter take that 'move' wasn't smart as he ended up shining far brighter."

"Porter could have done much more had he maximized his mana usage."

"Zeta should not be underestimated. The only reason she's not higher up, is because of how her move was copied and improved, getting the better of her."

"Charles. His ability to sync up is quite masterful. He waste no time thinking or analyzing, his quick witted nature would be leadership worthy. Would be had this team not had Michael."

"Everything from his play against Shom, to his use of Charles. Brilliant work. He thinks a lot, yes, but he also shows the results, time and time again. That one we should expect great things from."

"The score goes. 0.5, and 0.8 for the girls."

"The others follow with 1.6, 3.4, 4, 4.5 and a clean 5 for Michael."

The president continues. He goes through the other captains analysis.

"Lastly. There Tylan's."

"Lin, Rose and Miles were absolutely inconsequential to the results here today. So I'll clear them out as zeros," the president said while reading off Tylan's analysis.

"Porter did shine a bit but he has so much room to grow. A two seems fair."

"Charles is where things get interesting, however he still lacks agency, that's not good enough. Yes we don't want dead time thinking, but come on. You can't rely only on instincts. We are hunters for crying out loud. Hunt deliberately. Three should just about do it."

"Michael made himself known, no his presence was felt throughout the raid. He was vital no doubt. His plays were deliberate and effective. He singlehandedly solved the equation that net this result. Room to grow? Yes there's a lot. Use them more. Not just those who you think are useful. Push them more."

"Zeta I believe performed the best. If Michael made the best plays, then Zeta set them up. Those two were clearly at odds throughout, but her moves resulted in his re-actions and enactions which produced what we're proud of today. She eventually fell to a passive roll near the end, but her final set up showed that even that far back she was still thinking of counters to Michael and the dungeon overall. A four to her as well."

The president had now concluded reading the reports, the hall was now open for others to jump in and add their inputs.

"Yuh," one of the managers said out loud.

"I kinda like that Michael boy. Hope he doesn't end up being a pain like his brother."

"Oh come on. Why would you say such a thing," one replied.

"I mean we're all thinking it. Imagine raising and propping this guy up and he just ends up being another mega douche."

"Ok ok that's enough."

"Back to the matter at hand please."

There came a knock at the door.

The vice president just walked in. He got debriefed and put up to speed.

"Ok ok. Got it," Dhruggen said.

After about thirty minutes of talks, debates and back and forths the president as usual called everything off.

"It seems we've, I mean a majority has decided this new division is here to stay. Well that's good."

"So now what about the other matter," Tylan gasped.

"The one who didn't make it to the raid. What about Rean. What do we do about him. How do we go about assessing someone we know little about."

"Ideas, anyone?"

We go back to the division members as they just clear the gate.

"Damnit, my gears acting up again," Miles said.

"Oh you're just giving excuses just cause you can," Charles responded.

"Hey, you guys don't you find it strange that Mr Ridlus didn't come out here with us today," Porter asked.

"You guys, shhhh," Zeta said, signalling them to keep quite. "Can't you guys see, Shom's been on a call for like forever."

Michael looked at ease. "It's probably nothing," he said.

"Ok Mr it's probably nothing," Charles said mimicking Michaels tone.

"I just got off the phone with Ridlus. It would have been disturbing news but it turn out to be great news. You guys were assessed, and they think you mostly did fine."

"No notes would be shared. You're just going to have to leave with that. The board expects great things from you guys by the next award ceremony."

Everyone was filled with cheer. Even Lin and Rose. They had absolutely no idea, so I guess ignorance in their case was truly bliss.

"Hey, captain," Porter called out. "You said they assessed us. Well then. What about Rean?"
