Chapter 28 - The Separation

Jay's POV

Kiefer had gone to London for a month… and suddenly, the world felt colder.

Everywhere I looked, I felt the weight of expectation pressing down on me. My parents had received a proposal from a rich family—the Yuris—and they were relentles.

.

"Jay, this is your chance. You will marry them. They are wealthy, influential, and they can give you everything you deserve," my father said firmly. His voice had no room for argument.

"I… I can't. I love Kiefer," I whispered, clutching my chest. My heart felt heavy, like it was being crushed under their demands.

"Then say to him. Tell Kiefer to marry you. Or… I will marry you off to the Yuris. You don't have a choice," my father's tone was cold and final.

I tried calling Kiefer. Every day. Morning, noon, and night. His phone… always switched off.

I would stare at it for hours, hands trembling, wishing… praying… that he would pick up. That he would say something. That he would come back early.

But the days passed. And now, the wedding day had arrived.

I was in my bridal room, dressed in the silk gown they had picked for me. My hands trembled as I touched the ring meant for Yuri. Tears blurred my vision. My heart pounded, refusing to accept this reality.

"I… I can't do this," I whispered, my voice breaking. "I love Kiefer… I can't marry anyone else."

The wedding hall outside was filled with guests, all unaware of my torment. My parents were calm, confident that I would obey.

I wanted to run. I wanted to scream. But I couldn't. My feet were frozen. My body was paralyzed.

Author's POV

The room was silent except for the sound of Jay's soft sobs.

Outside, the luxury cars, the flowers, the waiters, the guests—everything was perfectly arranged. Everything seemed set for a life she never wanted.

But fate… had other plans.
