Kiefer's POV
Something felt wrong.
I don't know why… but my chest felt heavy.
I called Jay.
No answer.
Again.
No answer.
My jaw tightened.
"Where is she…?" I muttered.
I grabbed my keys and rushed out.
Jay's POV
I sat on the floor, hugging my knees.
I didn't even know how long I had been crying.
My phone kept ringing…
But I couldn't pick it up.
I didn't want him to worry.
Suddenly—
Knock knock
"Jay… open the door."
My heart stopped.
Kiefer.
"Jay, I know you're inside," he said, his voice softer now.
I slowly stood up and opened the door.
The moment he saw me…
His expression changed.
"Who made you cry?" he asked, his voice dangerously calm.
I shook my head.
"N-no one…"
"Don't lie to me," he said, stepping closer.
I couldn't hold it anymore.
"She came…"
His eyes darkened.
"Who?"
"Your mom…"
Silence.
Cold. Heavy silence.
Kiefer's POV
I knew it.
I clenched my fists.
"What did she say?"
Jay looked down.
"She told me to leave you…"
My anger rose instantly.
"And?" I asked.
"I said no…" she whispered.
Something inside me softened.
I pulled her into my arms.
She froze for a second… then hugged me tightly.
"I'm not going anywhere," I said firmly.
"No one can separate us. Not even her."
Author's POV
That night…
Their bond didn't break.
It grew stronger.
But somewhere else…
A storm was forming.
Serena wasn't done yet.
And this time…
She wouldn't just threaten.
