Chapter 1 - The Gate of Seven Worlds

Chapter One

The Mirror in the Attic

The house was older than silence.

It stood at the edge of Raventon town like a memory no one wanted to remember. The wood creaked when the wind passed, and the windows always looked as if they were watching.

Kael Ardin hated visiting it.

But after his grandfather disappeared, his parents had no choice but to move there.

"It's only temporary," his mother had said.

Temporary, Kael knew, meant forever.

On the third night in the house, when the storm clouds covered the moon, Kael heard a strange sound above his room.

Tap…

Tap…

Tap…

It came from the attic.

At first, he ignored it.

Old houses made noises. Everyone knew that.

But the tapping didn't stop.

Curiosity defeated fear.

Kael grabbed a flashlight and slowly climbed the narrow wooden stairs that led to the attic door. The handle was cold when he touched it.

He pushed it open.

Dust floated through the air like tiny ghosts.

The attic was filled with forgotten things: broken clocks, old books, trunks, and shelves stacked with strange objects his grandfather had collected from around the world.

But one object stood alone in the center of the room.

A tall mirror.

Its frame was carved with symbols Kael had never seen before. They looked like twisting vines and stars.

"What…?" Kael whispered.

The tapping sound came again.

But now he realized something strange.

It was not coming from the attic.

It was coming from the mirror.

Kael stepped closer.

The glass was not reflecting the attic.

Instead, it showed a forest.

A real forest.

Wind moved through tall silver trees. Blue light drifted through the air like glowing dust.

Kael's heart started racing.

"This isn't possible."

He reached out and touched the glass.

But the mirror was no longer solid.

His hand passed through it like water.

Suddenly a voice echoed softly from the other side.

"Finally… you found the gate."

Kael froze.

"Who's there?"

The forest inside the mirror grew brighter.

And then the voice spoke again.

"Come through, Kael Ardin."

"Your world was never meant to hold you."

"Aetherion is waiting."

Behind him, the attic door slammed shut.

And the mirror pulled him forward

Chapter Two: The Silver Forest and the Sky Guardian

Kael fell.

Not like someone falling from a roof or a tree.

It felt like falling through wind itself.

Cold air rushed around him as the attic, the mirror, and his world disappeared. Colors twisted around him like rivers of light.

Then suddenly—

Silence.

Kael landed softly on damp grass.

For a moment he didn't move.

His heart was beating so loudly he thought something in the forest might hear it.

Slowly he opened his eyes.

The forest from the mirror was real.

Tall silver trees stretched high into the sky, their leaves glowing faintly like moonlight trapped in metal. Strange blue lights floated between the branches like living stars.

Kael sat up.

"Okay… this is definitely not Raventon."

The air smelled different—fresh, ancient, almost magical.

Somewhere nearby, water flowed gently.

But something else was there too.

A presence.

The forest suddenly became very quiet.

Too quiet.

Even the glowing lights stopped drifting.

Kael stood slowly.

"Hello?"

No answer.

Then the ground trembled.

Once.

Twice.

A powerful gust of wind swept through the trees, bending branches and sending glowing leaves spinning through the air.

Something enormous moved above the forest.

Kael looked up.

At first he saw only clouds moving across the sky.

Then the clouds split apart.

And a massive shadow passed over the forest.

Two gigantic wings stretched across the sky like moving mountains.

Kael's mouth slowly opened.

"A… bird?"

But it was not a bird.

It descended from the clouds with terrifying grace.

The creature landed on a great stone cliff overlooking the forest.

Silver feathers covered its enormous wings.

Its body was that of a powerful lion, muscles rippling beneath golden fur.

But its head was that of a majestic eagle, its eyes glowing like molten sunlight.

A Griffin.

But not just any griffin.

This one was enormous—larger than an elephant.

Ancient runes glowed faintly along its wings.

The moment its claws touched the cliff, the entire forest seemed to bow in silence.

Kael felt something strange in his chest.

Not fear.

Something deeper.

Respect.

The creature opened its wings slowly, sending another wave of wind through the forest.

Then its glowing eyes turned directly toward Kael.

"You have arrived sooner than the stars predicted."

Kael jumped.

The voice wasn't loud.

But it echoed inside his mind.

"You… can talk?"

"I do not talk," the creature replied calmly.

"I command the wind of thought."

Kael stared at it.

"Okay… giant flying lion-eagle with mind powers. Sure. Why not."

The creature studied him carefully.

Then it spread its wings and leaped from the cliff.

The landing shook the ground as it touched down before him.

Up close, Kael realized something unbelievable.

The creature's presence felt like standing near a living mountain.

Power radiated from it.

Ancient.

Unbreakable.

"I am Aeralion, Guardian of the Seven Skies," the griffin said.

"First Protector of Aetherion."

The glowing runes on its wings pulsed brighter.

"For a thousand years I have watched the gates between worlds."

Its sharp golden eyes narrowed slightly.

"And now the traveler from Earth finally stands before me."

Kael swallowed.

"You know about Earth?"

"I know about everything the sky has seen."

The griffin stepped closer.

Its shadow covered Kael completely.

"Tell me, Kael Ardin…"

"How does a boy from a small forgotten world carry the mark of the Seven Thrones?"

Kael blinked.

"The what?"

Aeralion raised one enormous claw and pointed toward Kael's chest.

Kael looked down.

Through his shirt, a faint glowing symbol had appeared on his skin.

Seven small circles connected by lines.

Like a crown made of stars.

The griffin's voice became deeper.

"Impossible…"

"The prophecy spoke of this sign."

Kael looked back up nervously.

"Prophecy?"

Aeralion opened its wings slightly.

The forest lights began swirling again.

"The kingdoms of Aetherion stand on the edge of war."

"The Dark Emperor of the Void Mountains gathers his armies."

"And only one being can unite the Seven Thrones."

The griffin lowered its massive head until its glowing eyes were level with Kael's.

"That being… is the Gatewalker."

Kael pointed at himself.

"…Please don't say it's me."

The griffin did not smile.

"Kael Ardin…"

"You have just stepped into the center of a war that has waited one thousand years for your arrival."

Far away, beyond the forest…

A dark horn echoed across the mountains.

Aeralion's wings spread wide.

"The enemy already knows you are here."
