The compound was still burning when Darius Romano stepped outside.
The night air hit him like ice after the suffocating heat of the fire inside, but it did nothing to calm the storm raging in his chest. Flames continued to roar behind him, sending thick smoke twisting into the dark sky. Police sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder with every passing second.
But Darius didn't care about the police.
He cared about only one thing.
Lily.
Adrian emerged from the compound moments later, coughing slightly from the smoke. Marco and Lucien followed behind him, their faces tense and grim.
"She's gone," Marco said quietly.
Darius's jaw tightened.
He already knew that.
The moment the lights went out inside the building, Alessandro DeLuca had vanished like a ghost—and Lily had disappeared with him.
Darius clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white.
"I want every camera feed in the city," he said coldly. "Traffic cameras, street cameras, private security systems—everything."
Adrian nodded immediately.
"I'll call our tech team."
Lucien stepped closer, his gray eyes sharp with concern.
"You know who we're dealing with now," Lucien said carefully. "Alessandro DeLuca doesn't make mistakes. If he took Lily, it's because he planned this for a long time."
Darius's eyes darkened.
"Then he made one mistake."
Lucien raised an eyebrow.
"He took something that belongs to me."
An Unknown Destination
Lily slowly opened her eyes.
The first thing she noticed was the movement.
The car was traveling fast, the engine humming smoothly as it sped down an empty highway. The windows were darkly tinted, and the interior lights were dim.
Her head throbbed slightly.
For a moment she couldn't remember what had happened.
Then it all rushed back.
The fire.
The gunshots.
Alessandro DeLuca.
Lily sat up suddenly.
Two large men in black suits sat across from her inside the armored vehicle. Both of them watched her carefully, but neither spoke.
"Where am I?" Lily demanded.
Neither man answered.
The front passenger door opened slightly as the man she feared most stepped inside.
Alessandro DeLuca.
He sat down across from her calmly, adjusting his black coat as if nothing unusual had happened tonight.
Lily's heart pounded.
"You kidnapped me," she said.
Alessandro tilted his head slightly.
"I prefer the word retrieved."
"I don't belong to you!" Lily snapped.
Alessandro studied her carefully.
"No," he said calmly. "But you do belong to your bloodline."
Lily shook her head in confusion.
"I don't understand what you're talking about."
Alessandro leaned back in his seat.
"You will."
The War Room
Back at Darius's headquarters, the entire building buzzed with activity.
Screens lit up the large strategy room, displaying live camera feeds from all over the city. Technicians worked quickly, searching through traffic recordings and security footage.
Adrian stood near the central table, speaking rapidly into his phone.
"Yes, every port in the city," he said. "Airports, docks, private helipads. If DeLuca tries to leave the city, I want to know immediately."
Marco paced across the room like a restless tiger.
Lucien leaned against the wall quietly, watching Darius.
Darius stood at the center of the room, staring at the large digital map of the city.
His mind was already moving ten steps ahead.
"Alessandro didn't come here without preparation," Lucien said.
Darius nodded slightly.
"He planned this for years."
Marco stopped pacing.
"So what's the plan?"
Darius turned slowly.
His expression was colder than any of them had ever seen.
"We start a war."
The Truth Begins
Inside the armored car, Lily struggled to remain calm.
She kept thinking about Darius.
Was he safe?
Was he looking for her?
Alessandro watched her silently for a moment.
"You're thinking about him."
Lily looked up sharply.
"I'm thinking about escaping."
Alessandro smiled faintly.
"You're stronger than I expected."
He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small photograph.
He handed it to her.
Lily hesitated before taking it.
Her breath caught in her throat.
The photo showed a man and a woman standing together.
The woman looked exactly like Lily.
The same eyes.
The same smile.
"That's my mother," Lily whispered.
Alessandro nodded.
"And the man beside her is your father."
Lily stared at the image.
"But… they died."
Alessandro's voice grew quieter.
"Your mother did."
Lily looked up sharply.
"What about my father?"
Alessandro's eyes hardened.
"He betrayed me."
The Mafia Awakens
Back at the headquarters, Darius placed both hands on the strategy table.
"Alessandro DeLuca leads the Black Serpent Syndicate," he said. "They control weapons trafficking across half of Europe."
Marco whistled quietly.
"So basically… we're declaring war on the biggest criminal network in the world."
Darius didn't hesitate.
"Yes."
Lucien crossed his arms.
"And Lily?"
Darius's eyes burned with determination.
"I'm bringing her home."
Adrian finally ended his phone call.
"We found something."
Everyone turned.
Adrian tapped one of the screens.
A traffic camera image appeared.
It showed a convoy of three black armored vehicles speeding across a bridge just outside the city.
The timestamp was only twenty minutes old.
Marco leaned closer.
"That's them."
Darius grabbed his coat.
"Get the cars ready."
Lucien smirked slightly.
"Looks like the hunt begins."
A Dangerous Revelation
Back inside the vehicle, Lily looked up at Alessandro.
"If my father betrayed you… why do you need me?"
Alessandro studied her quietly.
"Because he stole something priceless from me."
Lily frowned.
"What?"
Alessandro's voice turned cold.
"A code."
She blinked.
"A code?"
Alessandro nodded.
"An encrypted key that unlocks accounts worth billions."
Lily stared at him.
"I don't have anything like that!"
Alessandro leaned closer.
"Your father hid it."
"Where?"
Alessandro's eyes locked onto hers.
"Inside the only person he trusted."
Lily felt a chill run through her body.
"Me?"
Alessandro smiled slowly.
"You carry the key to an empire, Lily."
The Chase Begins
Three black SUVs roared out of Darius's underground garage.
Their engines thundered as they sped into the night.
Inside the lead vehicle, Darius sat silently in the passenger seat.
Adrian drove.
Marco and Lucien followed in the other cars.
The city lights blurred past as they accelerated onto the highway.
Adrian glanced at Darius.
"You know this could turn into a massacre."
Darius's voice was ice.
"It already has."
He looked out at the dark road ahead.
Somewhere out there, Lily was being taken farther away.
But not for long.
Darius Romano didn't lose the people he loved.
And tonight…
He was coming for her.
