The evening in the small apartment was calm.
Rain clouds hung over the city again, and the lights from nearby buildings flickered through the thin curtains.
Feng sat on the couch scrolling through his phone while Mengmeng quietly washed the dishes in the kitchen.
Everything looked peaceful.
Normal.
Then Mengmeng's hidden phone vibrated inside her bag.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
Her eyes shifted toward the bag instantly.
Something was wrong.
She dried her hands calmly and walked to the bedroom.
The moment the door closed, her expression changed.
The gentle wife disappeared.
In her place stood someone cold and alert.
She picked up the black phone.
A message flashed on the screen.
"Boss. Emergency. Rival group broke into the east base. We caught one of them."
Mengmeng's eyes darkened.
Someone was bold enough to break into her territory.
She typed a short reply.
"Hold him there."
"I'm coming."
A few minutes later, she walked back into the living room.
Her expression was soft again.
"Feng," she said.
He looked up.
"Yes?"
"I just got a call from work."
He raised an eyebrow.
"At this hour?"
She sighed slightly.
"Our company has a problem with a shipment. I might need to work overtime tonight."
Feng watched her quietly for a second.
Then nodded.
"Alright."
Mengmeng smiled gently.
"I won't be too late."
Half an hour later…
A black luxury car stopped near an abandoned warehouse at the edge of the city.
The moment Mengmeng stepped out, several men immediately straightened.
"Boss."
The atmosphere was tense.
Inside the warehouse, a man was tied to a chair in the center of the room.
His face was bruised.
Blood stained the floor beneath him.
Mengmeng walked forward slowly.
Her heels echoed through the silent warehouse.
"Who is he?" she asked calmly.
One of her men stepped forward.
"He's from the Black Fang group."
Her eyes sharpened slightly.
"They broke into our base tonight."
Mengmeng stopped in front of the tied man.
He looked up at her.
Fear filled his eyes the moment he realized who was standing there.
"You… you're the Dark Queen…"
Mengmeng tilted her head slightly.
"So you know me."
The man swallowed nervously.
"We were just scouting—"
"Wrong answer."
Her voice was calm.
But everyone in the room felt the cold behind it.
She slowly pulled a knife from the table nearby and placed it lightly against the man's shoulder.
"Did you really think you could enter my territory without consequences?"
The man started shaking.
"P-Please… I was just following orders…"
Mengmeng's eyes turned colder.
"Then go back and tell them something."
The warehouse went silent.
Her voice echoed through the room.
"This city already belongs to someone."
The knife suddenly slammed into the wooden chair beside him.
The loud sound made the man jump in fear.
"If they come again," she continued quietly,
"I won't let them leave alive."
Her men lowered their heads.
No one questioned her authority.
Because everyone in the underworld knew one truth—
The Dark Queen never made empty threats.
