WILLA POV
I didn't think Kain heard what I said, or he just decided to be deaf. He kept pushing.
"I've been watching you all evening, and I can confidently say that no one has written on your dance card."
"You've been stalking me," I said.
He shrugged, not looking a bit remorseful about the confession. I snorted, looking away from him to the girls. They were now staring at me with some kind of look I didn't want to decipher.
"What is going on?" Becca asked me. "Is there something going on between the two of you…"
"No," I interrupted her before she could finish. "Of course not."
I saw her relax briefly. She must have thought she was going to have to compete for his attention with me. My nose wrinkled at the thought.
Becca straightened, smiling warmly at Kain who didn't even spare her a glance. "You see, Elyse is engaged to be married to my brother."
"Engaged?" I and three girls whispered at the same time, staring at her in surprise.
